  • Patent number: 7897181
Abstract: The present invention relates to an agent for photodynamic therapy (PDT) containing porous silicon (PSi) and a method of quantitative measurement of reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced therefrom. Particularly, it is expected that the present invention will contribute to the development of cancer treatment without side effects by suggesting PSi, a safe and reliable new cancer drug that can destroy cancer cells through generating sufficient heat with little ROS produced if the PSi is used as nanobomb for a new PDT that kills cancer cells with heat or explosion. In addition, it is expected that the present invention will provide a reliable and reproducible method for quantitative measurement of a very small amount of ROS produced therefrom through an XRD analysis.

  • Publication number: 20100249444
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of preparing a cross-condensed compound of an amino-acid derivative and (aminoalkyl) trialkoxysilane using microwave, including: irradiating and heating an amino-acid derivative and (aminoalkyl) trialkoxysilane in a microwave reactor to obtain a reaction product (step 1); and refining the reaction product obtained in the step 1 by removing an unreacted solid material from the reaction product and then leaving the reaction product at room temperature under vacuum to remove excess (aminoalkyl) trialkoxysilane therefrom (step 2). According to the method, since a cross-condensation reaction is performed using microwave, unlike a conventional condensation reaction, economic efficiency is increased due to no catalyst, short reaction time and no solvent. Further, the yield and selectivity of products is increased, and the condensation reaction can be environment-friendly performed because a solvent which can badly influence the environment may not be used.

  • Publication number: 20100232001
Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for delayed optical logic gates based on slow light and enhanced nondegenerate four-wave mixing processes, where a single or multiple delayed optical routers are utilized for dark resonance interactions in which two-color lasers interact with a three-level nonlinear optical medium comprised of two ground states and one excited state through the nondegenerate four-wave mixing processes. The delayed optical logic mechanism is based on combination of single or multiple dark resonance-induced two-photon coherence conversion via slow light phenomenon. The two-photon coherence induced on the ground states is optically detected via nondegenerate four-wave mixing processes. The nondegenerate four-wave mixing generation is enhanced owing to dark resonance or electromagnetically induced transparency.

  • Publication number: 20100232792
Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for delayed optical router based on slow light and nondegenerate four-wave mixing processes are presented, in which three laser pulses interact with a three-level nonlinear optical medium composing two closely spaced ground states and an excited state. The delayed optical routing mechanism is based on a slow light phenomenon, in which a group velocity of an incoming input signal pulse is slowed down due to quantum coherence induced refractive index change. The two-photon coherence induced on the ground states via electromagnetically induced transparency is optically recovered via nondegenerate four-wave mixing processes. The nondegenerate four-wave mixing generation is enhanced owing to absorption cancellation. In this case, the individual pulse switching/routing time is limited by the coherence decay time that is much faster than population decay time, where the population decay-time is a limiting factor of conventional switching devices.

  • Publication number: 20100214434
Abstract: A method and an apparatus are provided for adjusting white balance of a digital image. An input image is converted into a YCbCr color space. White pixels of the converted input image are detected by determining whether each pixel of the converted input image is included in a preset region of the YCbCr color space. A gain of each channel is calculated from averages of R, G and B values of the detected white pixels. White balance adjustment is performed by applying the calculated gain of each channel to each pixel of the input image.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a time slot allocation apparatus and method for preventing collisions between time slots in a TDMA-based RFID network. The time slot allocation apparatus allocates time slots, obtained by dividing a same frequency band into unit time slots, to RFID readers for reading identification codes of RFID tags (10) in the TDMA-based RFID network. A time slot allocation device (33a) allocates time slots required for communication with the RFID tags to a plurality of RFID readers (20) provided in the RFID network. A collision prevention device (33b) performs control such that the time slot allocation device allocates time slots to the plurality of RFID readers while distributing different and non-successive time slots to adjacent RFID readers, thus preventing collisions from occurring between time slots allocated to the RFID readers.
