    Abstract: At least one electrical brain signal is received from a patient and is demultiplexed into an efferent motor intention signal and at least one afferent sensory signal (such as an afferent touch sense signal and/or an afferent proprioception signal). A functional electrical stimulation (FES) device is controlled to apply FES to control a paralyzed portion of the patient that is paralyzed due to a spinal cord injury of the patient. The controlling of the FES device is based on at least the efferent motor intention signal. A demultiplexed afferent touch sense signal may be used to control a haptic device. The afferent sensory signal(s) may be used to adjust the FES control.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for synthesizing indium phosphide by liquid phosphorus injection method, which belongs to the field of semiconductor technology. The method comprises: converting gaseous phosphorus into liquid phosphorus through a condenser, injecting the liquid phosphorus into an indium melt while preventing phosphorus vaporization by randomly delivering a low temperature inert gas, and causing an instantaneous reaction between the liquid phosphorus and the liquid indium melt, so that an indium phosphide melt can be synthesized at a relatively low temperature, with advantages of high efficiency, high purity, precise proportioning, large capacity, aiding in the growth of a phosphorus-rich indium phosphide polycrystal and facilitating the growth of an indium phosphide monocrystal. The method includes the steps of indium cleaning, phosphorus charging, furnace loading, communication of condenser, synthesis, preparation of crystals, etc.

    Abstract: It has been established that optimizing cell seeding onto tissue engineering vascular grafts (TEVG) is associated with reduced inflammatory responses and reduced post-operative stenosis of TEVG. Cell seeding increased TEVG patency in a dose dependent manner, and TEVG patency improved when more cells were seeded, however duration of incubation time showed minimal effect on TEVG patency. Methods of engineering patient specific TEVG including optimal numbers of cells to maintain graft patency and reduce post-operative stenosis are provided. Closed, single-use customizable systems for seeding TEVG are also provided. Preferably the systems are custom-designed based on morphology of the patient specific graft, to enhance the efficacy of cell seeding.

A system includes center indicator devices that are disposed along a perimeter on a steering wheel. A controller determines a position on the steering wheel that corresponds to a center position, and selects one of the plurality of center indicator devices at the determined center position on the steering wheel. The selected center indicator device produces feedback to the driver to indicate the center position on the steering wheel. Feedback from the center indicator allows drivers to be better aware of the steering wheel's position and to make safe and/or accurate maneuvers until the steering wheel is properly recoupled.

    Abstract: A composite polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) preservative film, a preparation method and an application thereof are provided. The film includes PVA of 9-12 parts, modified silicon dioxide nanoparticles of 2-5 parts, antimicrobial of 0.3-2 parts and deionized water of 100 parts. Fruits and vegetables sensitive to sunlight have lower requirements for illumination while preserving. With PVA as matrix and silicon dioxide (SiO2) nanoparticles as modified materials, composite PVA is obtained by controlling a particle size of SiO2 and modifying its surface. The composite PVA preservative film takes advantages of different refractive indexes between PVA and SiO2 and controlling the particle size of SiO2, thereby having a low luminous transmittance. The preservative film has an effect of light-proof on fruits and vegetables suitable for light-proof storage, and improves its gas transmission and water resistance because of adding SiO2, thereby facilitating packaging preservation of the fruits and vegetables.

The system for converting carbon dioxide includes a carbon monoxide generator for generating carbon monoxide through a reverse water gas shift reaction and a hydrocarbon generator for producing a hydrocarbon through a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reaction, whereby the carbon monoxide generator is packed both with a catalyst for the reverse water gas shift reaction and with a catalyst for the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reaction, thus increasing the CO yield in the carbon monoxide generator even at a low temperature compared to when the catalyst for the reverse water gas shift reaction is used alone, ultimately increasing the hydrocarbon yield in the hydrocarbon generator. Moreover, the energy of the exothermic Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reaction can be used as the energy required for the endothermic reverse water gas shift reaction, thereby increasing energy efficiency and processing yield and thus reducing operation and maintenance costs.
