  • Patent number: 11296271
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to materials, devices, and methods for resonant ambient thermal energy harvesting. Thermal energy can be harvested using thermoelectric resonators that capture and store ambient thermal fluctuations and convert the fluctuations to energy. The thermal resonators can include heat engines disposed between masses of varying sizes or diodes. The masses or diodes can be made of high and ultra-high effusivity materials to transfer thermal energy through the resonator and optimize power output. The masses or diodes of the resonator can be tuned to the dominant frequency of the temperature waveform to maximize the amount of energy being converted. The resonators can be added to existing structures to supply or generate power, and, in some embodiments, the structures themselves can be a mass of the thermal resonator. Methods for constructing and/or using such devices are also provided, as are methods for formulating ultra-high effusivity materials.

  • Patent number: 11294256
Abstract: A method and a system for controlling an optical frequency comb, where the working power of the pump source is dynamically adjusted and controlled, which not only greatly shortens a control time of a stable mode-locking and realizes a fast mode-locking control, but also quickly stabilizes the power control of stable working condition, thereby reducing unnecessary power consumption caused by power reciprocating oscillation tracking controls and better achieving the energy-saving effect of the power adjustment control process. The temperature of the working environment of the pump source is dynamically adjusted and controlled, so that the environment temperature can quickly reach the reference environment temperature required for mode-locking, which not only creates a good temperature condition for the mode-locking of the optical comb system, but also improves the efficiency of environment temperature stability control in the stable working conditions.

  • Patent number: 11296787
Abstract: A monostatic, beaconless fiber transceiver for free-space optical links infers fine tracking information using receiver optoelectronics and an injected pointing dither (nutation). A MEMS steering mirror fine-points the beams and injects the nutation. While this may disturb fiber coupling and transmit beam pointing, link loss becomes negligible for sufficient SNR. The SNR for links without point-ahead correction is about 35 dB to keep dither loss below 0.1 dB and RMS spatial tracking noise below a tenth of the beam divergence. Since the pointing and tracking bandwidth is much smaller than the receiver communication bandwidth, this SNR is achievable with appropriate filtering. For point-ahead correction, a single-mode fiber transceiver can reach up to about 1 beamwidth of correction, while a few-mode fiber transceiver can reach up to about 1.75 beamwidths due to improved coupling sensitivity at higher point-ahead offsets.
