Abstract: Lithium ion batteries and battery modules are disclosed. The lithium ion battery includes a housing where a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte are provided. Some of the areas of the housing are made from the fusible material. When the temperature in the housing exceeds a set threshold, the area, made from the fusible material, on the housing is communicated, where the electrolyte flows out to separate from the positive electrode and the negative electrode. Timely separation of the electrolyte in the single lithium ion battery is achieved when the temperature thereof rises abnormally, the electrolyte is effectively protected from being ignited or decomposed, the single lithium ion battery is protected from being ignited and exploded, and damages to the rest surrounding single lithium ion batteries caused by a chain reaction brought by the single lithium ion battery of which the temperature rises abnormally are avoided.

Abstract: A machine-learning-based monochromatic CT image reconstruction method is described for quantitative CT imaging. The neural network is configured to learn a nonlinear mapping function from a training data set to map a CT image, which is reconstructed from a single spectral current-integrating projection data set, to monochromatic projections at a pre-specified energy level, realizing monochromatic CT imaging and overcoming beam hardening. An apparatus, method and/or system are configured to determine, by a trained artificial neural network (ANN), a monochromatic projection data set based, at least in part, on a measured CT image. The measured CT image may be reconstructed based, at least in part, on measured projection data. The measured projection data may be polychromatic. The apparatus, method and/or system may be further configured to reconstruct a monochromatic CT image based, at least in part, on the monochromatic projection data set.

Abstract: Communication systems and methods in accordance with various embodiments of the invention utilize modulation on zeros. Carrier frequency offsets (CFO) can result in an unknown rotation of all zeros of a received signal's z-transform. Therefore, a binary MOCZ scheme (BMOCZ) can be utilized in which the modulated binary data is encoded using a cycling register code (e.g. CPC or ACPC), enabling receivers to determine cyclic shifts in the BMOCZ symbol resulting from a CFO. Receivers in accordance with several embodiments of the invention include decoders capable of decoding information bits from received discrete-time baseband signals by: estimating a timing offset for the received signal; determining a plurality of zeros of a z-transform of the received symbol; identifying zeros from the plurality of zeros that encode received bits by correcting fractional rotations resulting from the CFO; and decoding information bits based upon the received bits using a cycling register code.
