Abstract: Provided is a piezoelectric material excellent in piezoelectricity. The piezoelectric material includes a perovskite-type complex oxide represented by the following General Formula (1). A(ZnxTi(1-x))yM(1-y)O3??(1) wherein A represents at least one kind of element containing at least a Bi element and selected from a trivalent metal element; M represents at least one kind of element of Fe, Al, Sc, Mn, Y, Ga, and Yb; x represents a numerical value satisfying 0.4?x?0.6; and y represents a numerical value satisfying 0.1?y?0.9.

Abstract: At least two types of dielectric materials such as oxide nanosheets having a layered perovskite structure that differ from each other are laminated, and the nanosheets are bonded to each other via an ionic material, thereby producing a superlattice structure-having ferroelectric thin film. Having the layered structure, the film can exhibit ferroelectricity as a whole, though not using a ferroelectric material therein. Accordingly, there is provided a ferroelectric film based on a novel principle, which is favorable for ferroelectric memories and others and which is free from a size effect even though extremely thinned.

Abstract: A method for synthesizing nanodiamonds includes high energy ball milling of graphite powder for a period of at least 52 hours at a rotation speed of about 400 rotations per minute to produce nanodiamonds. The ball milling can occur in an inert atmosphere at ambient pressure and room temperature. The nanodiamonds can have a spherical morphology and a particle size distribution ranging from about 1 nanometer to about 10 nanometers.

Abstract: A floating eagle type wave power generating device includes an eagle-head-shaped wave absorption floating body, a ship-shaped underwater appendage and a door-shaped support arm. Abstract: Some embodiments herein provide compositions and methods for expressing secreted and cell-surface-bound polypeptides in a single cell. In some embodiments, secreted and cell-surface polypeptide are produced from a single polynucleotide. The polynucleotide can comprise a sequence (or sequence encoding a polypeptide) that mediates separation of a membrane anchor from the polypeptide. In some embodiments, a desired ratio of secreted to surface-bound polypeptide is obtained by selecting a sequence that mediates a desired level of separation of the membrane anchor from the polypeptide.
Abstract: Disclosed is an electrolyte solution for a magnesium rechargeable battery with a high ionic conductivity and a wide electrochemical window compared to the conventional electrolyte solution. The electrolyte solution is prepared by dissolving magnesium metal into the ethereal solution using combinations of metal chloride catalysts. The electrolyte solution can be applied to fabricate magnesium rechargeable batteries and magnesium hybrid batteries with a markedly increased reversible capacity, rate capability, and cycle life compared to those batteries employing the conventional electrolyte solution. Also disclosed is a method for preparing the electrolyte.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved method for purifying a sulfonated aromatic monomer. The method is an economical method capable of providing a highly pure sulfonated aromatic monomer, in which a salt precipitation step and a recrystallization step are simplified while maintaining the reaction conditions used in a conventional method for synthesizing the sulfonated aromatic monomer, and a purification process is carried out using an easily available and stable chemical substance. The sulfonated aromatic monomer obtained by the purification method will be useful for the preparation of a polymer for a polymer electrolyte membrane and will be advantageous to synthesize polymer with high molecular weight.

Abstract: A nuclear reactor provided with a core including a new fuel part which contains uranium and a burning part in which fuel burns, wherein the burning part moves in a direction toward the new fuel part from the beginning to end of the operation cycle. The nuclear reactor is provided with a reactivity applying mechanism to apply the reactivity which can change the power of the core when the temperature of the coolant which flows through the inside of the core changes and performs control to change the temperature of the coolant which flows through the inside of the core in accordance with the change of power which is demanded for the core. The reactivity applying mechanism includes a gap adjusting plate which supports fuel members. This plate is configured to expand when the core coolant temperature rises. The expansion increases distance between the fuel members.
