Abstract: The present invention provides methods for making pnictide compositions, particularly photoactive and/or semiconductive pnictides. In many embodiments, these compositions are in the form of thin films grown on a wide range of suitable substrates to be incorporated into a wide range of microelectronic devices, including photovoltaic devices, photodetectors, light emitting diodes, betavoltaic devices, thermoelectric devices, transistors, other optoelectronic devices, and the like. As an overview, the present invention prepares these compositions from suitable source compounds in which a vapor flux is derived from a source compound in a first processing zone, the vapor flux is treated in a second processing zone distinct from the first processing zone, and then the treated vapor flux, optionally in combination with one or more other ingredients, is used to grow pnictide films on a suitable substrate.

Abstract: Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a remarkable tool for probing the brain. However, it is still unclear why specific regions in the cortex are excitable by TMS while others are not. This invention provides methods and tools for the design of efficient magnetic stimulators. Such stimulators can excite neuronal networks that were not sensitive to stimulation until now. Stimulation can be carried out both in-vitro and in-vivo. Novel systems and techniques of this invention will enable both treatment and diagnostics by stimulating regions of the brain or neuronal assemblies that were previously unaffected by TMS.

Abstract: A method for predicting drowsiness is disclosed. By obtaining average heart beat rate values of a driver, and according to the characteristics of the heart beat rate values over a period of time, the method is utilized to determine whether the human being is going to sleep. The method comprises the following steps: detecting a heart beat rate of a driver; calculating a curve of the heart beat rate average during a time interval of X minutes; determining an accumulated length of duration during which the calculated linear regression slope values are smaller than the predetermined slope value Z; determining whether the accumulated length of duration is greater than a time threshold T to generate a drowsiness detecting result; and determining whether to raise an alarm based on the drowsiness detecting result.

Abstract: Provided is an image extraction method of optical phase extraction system. The image extraction method may include checking whether a phase error due to an environmental disturbance of optical fiber occurs by monitoring an output signal obtained by interfering reflection optical signals reflected through two paths. When a phase error occurs, an error is compensated using a phase compensation control method of closed loop type through one of the two paths and an image is extracted by capturing an image of object in a state that the image of object is shifted by the set phase value when a phase error is compensated. According to the inventive concept, a phase error occurring in an optical fiber type interferometer due to an environmental disturbance is minimized or compensated. Also, since an interference image accurately shifted by the phase value set among arbitrary various phase values is obtained through a camera, reliability of three-dimensional phase information being extracted is guaranteed.

Abstract: A goniometer has three potentiometers with axes of rotation that intersect at a point for measuring angular range of motion of an anatomy, such as of the spine or jointed appendages. The intersecting axes facilitate calculation of angle based on potentiometer output and allow the rotations on each of the three axes to be measured independently and simultaneously without mechanical or electrical cross talk. The angular measurements may be recorded on a computer for analysis and playback and may be continuously captured over a range of motion. The captured data may be compared to samples from the same person or others to aid in assessment of function.

Abstract: A method for establishing paraphrasing data for a machine translation system includes selecting a paraphrasing target sentence through application of an object language model to a translated sentence that is obtained by machine-translating a source language sentence, extracting paraphrasing candidates that can be paraphrased with the paraphrasing target sentence from a source language corpus DB, performing machine translation with respect to the paraphrasing candidates, selecting a final paraphrasing candidate by applying the object language model to the result of the machine translation with respect to the paraphrasing candidates, and confirming the paraphrasing target sentence and the final paraphrasing candidate as paraphrasing lexical patterns using a bilingual corpus and storing the paraphrasing lexical patterns in a paraphrasing DB. According to the present invention, the consistent paraphrasing data can be established since the paraphrasing data is automatically established.
