  • Patent number: 8673596
Abstract: A process for production of fermentable sugars from biomass using multi-enzyme multi-step system is provided herein. The process disclosed in the present invention provides high yielded sugars in less time period. The multi-enzyme system disclosed in the present invention converts celluloses, hemicelluloses and/or mixture thereof to fermentable sugar with higher efficiency and better economics than the process known in the prior art. Cellulose and hemicelluloses fractions derived from natural sources such as any lignocellulosic biomass are saccharified in a shortened time with higher conversion rates of intermediates with modified enzymatic compositions/groups of the Multi-enzyme system to enhance the rate thus providing an economical cellulose and hemicellulose saccharification process.

  • Patent number: 8675780
Abstract: A method of determining a transmitted vector (x) in a MIMO receiver includes the steps of receiving a received vector (y) representative of the transmitted vector (x), generating a first random number and forming, in a first iteration, a first symbol of a first candidate vector, the candidate vector representing a potential solution vector. The step of forming is based on a first approach if the first random number is greater than a first predetermined value (q), but is based on a second approach if the random number is less than or equal to the first predetermined value (q). The first approach randomly selects the first symbol from a uniform distribution of symbols in the transmission alphabet. The second approach selects the first symbol based on Gibbs sampling. The method represents a randomized Markov Chain Monte Carlo (RMCMC) sampling technique.

  • Patent number: 8675999
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include apparatuses, systems and methods for multi-patch based super-resolution from a single video frame. Such embodiments include a scale-invariant self-similarity (SiSS) based super-resolution method. Instead of searching HR examples in a database or in LR image, the present embodiments may select the patches according to the SiSS characteristics of the patch itself, so that the computational complexity of the method may be reduced because there is not any search involved. To solve the problem of lack of relevant examples in natural images, the present embodiments may employ multi-shaped and multi-sized patches in HR image reconstruction. Additionally, embodiments may include steps for a hybrid weighing method for suppressing artifacts. Advantageously, certain embodiments of the method may be 10˜1,000 times faster than the example based SR approaches using patch searching and can achieve comparable HR image quality.

Abstract: Sets, kits or stocks of anti-myopia contact or spectacle lenses, along with methods for their use, that do not require a clinician to measure peripheral refractive error in the eyes of myopic patients. Extensive surveys have shown that lenses having peripheral powers or defocus set in accordance with central corrective power will cover almost all normal myopes not worse than ?6 D central refractive error. In one example, a kit or set of lenses (50, FIG. 15) can have multiple parts or sub-sets (52, 54) each comprising a compartmented container (56a, 56b) with lenses (58a, 58b) arranged according to increments of central corrective power (59a, 59b). The lenses (58a) of the first part (52) have four steps (60a, 61a, 62a, 64a) of peripheral power or defocus to pro vide therapeutic effect and, while the lenses (58b) of the second part (54) also have four steps (60b, 61b, 62b, 64b), the level of therapeutic effect is higher.
