Abstract: Provided is a DNA-level grain variety discrimination method of detecting the presence or absence of any other varieties of grains in object grains of a certain variety through multiplex PCR that uses the DNAs extracted from the grains or from their processed products as templates. The method is characterized in that the multiplex PCR uses pair primer groups that are for discriminative detection of negative bands not appearing in the band pattern of the object variety but selectively appearing only in the band patterns of the other mixed varieties. The method has made it possible to rapidly and simply detect the presence or absence of mixed varieties in high-quality grains such as “Koshihikari”, and to identify the mixed varieties.

  • Patent number: 7090650
Abstract: The continuous passive motion exercise system enables human's joints to recover speedily to original functioning after injuries or surgeries, and thus shortens the period of time needed for joint rehabilitation. The present invention provides a force or torque monitoring device attached onto a continuous passive motion exercise mechanism to measure the driving force of the repeated joint flexing and extending motion, so as to evaluate the change of the viscosity and the stiffness of the injured joints through different rehabilitation periods. This monitoring device also monitor degrees of joint muscle's active contraction and thus slows down or stops the repeated motions of exercise mechanisms to improve safety concerns.

  • Patent number: 7090477
Abstract: An electromagnetic coaxial driving injection apparatus, having a linear motor for driving injection and a rotation motor for metering. The linear motor and the rotation motor of both the injection and metering motors and an injection screw are set on a common axis. A connecting device connects moving parts of the motors with the injection screw. Stationary parts of the motors are fastened on a frame and forward-backward moving unit, not moving during injection and metering. Due to the arrangement of the moving parts and the injection screw on a single axis, moving parts are lessened, and transmission losses are minimized. Since the number of structural parts is low, only the moving parts of the motors move during injection while the stationary parts thereof remain at rest, thus greatly reducing inertia.

  • Patent number: 7091977
Abstract: Disclosed is an animation method of deformable objects using an oriented material point and generalized spring model. The animation method comprises the following steps of: modeling a structure of a deformable object into oriented material points and generalized springs; initializing forces and torques acting on the material points, calculating the forces acting on the material points owing to collision of the material points and gravity, calculating the spring forces and torques acting on the material points, obtaining new positions and postures of the material points; updating positions, velocities, postures and angular velocities of the material points based upon physics, and displaying and storing updated results. The oriented material point and generalized spring model of the invention contains the principle of the conventional mass-spring model, but can animate deformable objects or express their structures in more intuitive manner over the conventional mass-spring model.
