Abstract: A petroleum refining method for upgrading petroleum products improves the efficiency and reduces the costs of upgrading oils, such as lipids, bitumen, crude oil, fracking oils, synthetic oils, and other feeds, to produce useful fuels and chemical precursor streams. Usage of a specific type of zeolite (ZSM-5) catalyst, supercritical water to control coke formation, and a specific response to phase behavior and other catalytic effects optimize the process. A prescribed set of reactor conditions employing supercritical water increases activity of the catalyst in industrial reactions.

Abstract: A method for cleanly extracting metallic silver includes: mixing an acidic solution containing Ce4+ and NO3? with a silver-containing material for leaching; after the leaching is completed, carrying out a solid-liquid separation to obtain a leaching solution containing Ce3+ and Ag+; and electrolyzing the leaching solution, wherein an oxidation reaction of Ce3+ occurs at an anode to realize a regeneration of Ce4+ and an electrolytic reduction occurs at a cathode to reduce Ag+ to obtain the metallic silver. Ce4+ is used as a leaching agent and an intermediate oxidant to implement a cyclic operation of solution leaching and electrolytic regeneration on the silver-containing material. Almost no NOx and waste liquid are caused by the extraction process, and the invention is clean and environmentally friendly.

Abstract: One or more embodiments of the present disclosure include systems and methods that use neural architecture fusion to learn how to combine multiple separate pre-trained networks by fusing their architectures into a single network for better computational efficiency and higher accuracy. For example, a computer implemented method of the disclosure includes obtaining multiple trained networks. Each of the trained networks may be associated with a respective task and has a respective architecture. The method further includes generating a directed acyclic graph that represents at least a partial union of the architectures of the trained networks. The method additionally includes defining a joint objective for the directed acyclic graph that combines a performance term and a distillation term. The method also includes optimizing the joint objective over the directed acyclic graph.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of registering a new optical network unit (ONU) to be performed by an optical line terminal (OLT). Abstract: A method for reducing power consumption of a terminal that communicates with a base station in a mobile communication system using a multi-carrier structure composed of a primary component carrier and at least one secondary component carrier comprises: receiving a discontinuous reception (DRX) parameter group for multi carriers from the base station; and setting the multi carriers to the same parameter value, by using the received parameter group. The method for reducing power consumption of the terminal further comprises: performing a downlink control channel receive operation on each carrier according to a DRX cycle. As the base station in the mobile communication system using the multi-carrier structure simplifies the DRX process for reducing power consumption of a terminal by reducing signaling load for the multi-carrier control of the terminal, it becomes possible to reduce power consumption of the terminal.

Abstract: A MIMO symbol detection and search method, a decoding circuit and a receiving antenna system are provided. The signal detection and search method includes the following steps. A symbol search tree is obtained, and a plurality of candidate symbols at each layer of the symbol search tree are sorted. The candidate symbols are traversed in sequence at each layer of the symbol search tree. At each layer of the symbol search tree, if a cumulative partial Euclidean distance is greater than or equal to a threshold, un-scanned candidate symbols are excluded. If the cumulative partial Euclidean distance is less than the threshold, the threshold is updated by the cumulative partial Euclidean distance. When all of the candidate symbols have been calculated, an estimated symbol combination is outputted, and the scan of the symbol search tree is terminated.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to the surprising and unexpected finding that the well-known cancer protein, Myeloid Cell Leukemia-1 (MCL-1), binds to and modulates the enzymatic activity of Very Long Chain Acyl CoA Dehydrogenase (VLCAD), thereby regulating fatty acid ?-oxidation. This finding is employed in compositions and methods of treating cancer, metabolic diseases, or other conditions characterized by excessive fatty acid ?-oxidation by blocking or reducing the energy production of cells (e.g., cancer) through inhibiting the MCL-1/VLCAD interaction and/or directly inhibiting VLCAD enzymatic activity. In addition, the disclosure features methods for identifying such agents that inhibit the interaction between MCL-1 and VLCAD or that inhibit VLCAD enzymatic activity.
