Abstract: A composite polyester hot-melt adhesive, a preparation method thereof and a preparation method of an anti-scouring geotextile are provided. The preparation method of the composite polyester hot-melt adhesive includes the following steps: performing an esterification reaction on a dibasic acid and a dihydric alcohol under a protection of nitrogen and an action of a titanium/cobalt composite catalyst, adding a stabilizer for a polycondensation reaction to obtain a polyester hot-melt adhesive, then adding polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres for mixing and stirring to obtain the composite polyester hot-melt adhesive. The anti-scouring geotextile is obtained by bonding a polyethylene terephthalate woven fabric with a polypropylene geotextile by the composite polyester hot-melt adhesive.

Abstract: Resolution of a pathological condition is promoted via the application, e.g., via injection, of a potassium osmolyte such as hyperosmolar potassium gluconate, potassium aspartate, another potassium-based salt, or combinations thereof to the condition site. The application of the potassium osmolyte increases the extracellular concentration of potassium ions, reducing the membrane potential of the cells at the condition site and including immune cell quiescence. As a result, the inflammatory response in the patient to the pathological condition is reduced or eliminated. Reducing the inflammatory response is useful in treatment of myriad conditions including arthritis, auto-immune conditions, inflammatory disorders, neurodegenerative disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, tissue breakdown, etc.
Abstract: A composition, and method for a targeted drug delivery is disclosed in treating central nervous system injury, including blast hearing loss, traumatic brain injury (TBI) and the like, by administering a subject with nanoparticle-based minocycline formulations. The formulation contains nanoparticles encapsulating minocycline for neuroprotective effect in TBI. Albumin nanoparticle-based minocycline formulations provide enhanced delivery to brain, and reduced toxicity at minimal dosage for treating a subject suffering from central nervous system injury including blast induced traumatic brain injury (bTBI). Nanoparticle administered at minimal dose in rat blast TBI model crossed blood-brain barrier (BBB) and enhanced therapeutic concentration compared to free minocycline. Provided is an effective and safe minocycline delivery in TBI with minimal or no toxicity for neuroprotective therapy.

Abstract: One example described herein involves a system receiving task data and distribution criteria for a state space model from a client device. The task data can indicate a type of sequential Monte Carlo (SMC) task to be implemented. The distribution criteria can include an initial distribution, a transition distribution, and a measurement distribution for the state space model. The system can generate a set of program functions based on the task data and the distribution criteria. The system can then execute an SMC module to generate a distribution and a corresponding summary, where the SMC module is configured to call the set of program functions during execution of an SMC process and apply the results returned from the set of program functions in one or more subsequent steps of the SMC process. The system can then transmit an electronic communication to the client device indicating the distribution and its corresponding summary.

Abstract: A fumed silica monolithic integrating cavity device. The device is configured to facilitate optical measurements taken from a sample positioned within a cavity of the device. The cavity is defined by a fumed silica monolith with the added feature of a fused quartz lining on the surface of the monolith. This provides an intermediate surface that allows for cleaning and reuse of the highly effective diffuse light scattering fumed silica monolith. Furthermore, the lining may be placed under pressure or vacuum to structurally enhance mechanical integrity of the underlying monolith. Thus, continued or reliably repeated use of the device may be appreciated as well as use in more industrial environments that are prone to vibration.
