Abstract: A shimming system for magnetic resonance imaging is provided, which includes: a multi-channel local shim coil unit configured to be installed on an inspection table of a magnetic resonance imaging system, where the multi-channel local shim coil unit includes a local multi-channel shim coil and a radio frequency receiving coil for receiving magnetic resonance signals, and the radio frequency receiving coil is placed inside the local multi-channel shim coil and separated by a distance from the local multi-channel shim coil; a computer control system configured to install and set software controlled by a DC power and calculate field maps and calculate optimization processes; a DC power system communicatively connected to the computer control system to control a value of current of each channel; and a housing having a semi-cylindrical configuration, where the local multi-channel shim coil is only distributed on a semi-cylindrical surface of the semi-cylindrical configuration of the housing.

Abstract: A change in geoid height is measured easily. A geoid measurement method of the present invention executes an inertial measurement data acquiring step, a comparison data acquiring step, a state variable estimating step, and a geoid calculating step. In the inertial measurement data acquiring step, data related to velocity, position, and attitude angle is acquired as inertially-derived data based on the output of an inertial measurement part having a three-axis gyro and a three-axis accelerometer attached to a moving body. In the comparison data acquiring step, data related to velocity is acquired as comparison data from a source other than the inertial measurement part. In the state variable estimating step, state variables including a plumb line deviation are estimated by using the inertially-derived data and the comparison data to apply a Kalman filter in which the plumb line deviation is included in the state variables.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of fabricating a conductive fabric by vapor phase polymerization, a multi-pressure sensor for a fiber type, and a multi-pressure measuring method employing the multi-pressure sensor. The method of fabricating a conductive fabric by vapor phase polymerization provides a conductive fabric having a resistance value which changes depending on pressure applied by a user. The multi-pressure measuring method employing the multi-pressure sensor has high resistance to moisture and repeated loading, is manufactured with lower costs than existing pressure sensors, is capable of measuring both dynamic and static pressures using a principle of a piezo-resistive sensor, has a simple circuit configuration, and is strong against a high-frequency disturbance.

Abstract: Systems, apparatus, and methods for improving health literacy of patient materials. The method includes receiving, from a communication source, a medical communication for a patient containing at least one of medical diagnostic information or medical treatment information. The method includes generating a health literacy assessment of the medical communication using at least one of a plurality of appearance metrics, a plurality of readability metrics, a plurality of document literacy metrics, or a plurality of quantitative literacy metrics. The method includes providing the health literacy assessment to the communication source to facilitate an improved conveyance of the at least one of the medical diagnostic information or the medical treatment information to increase comprehension by patients of all educational levels.
Abstract: Reflecting light beams off of microscale three-dimensional (3D) freeform surfaces can yield highly efficient coupling into and out of optical waveguides, optical fibers, and photonic chips. The structure of the 3D freeform reflective surface determines the shape of the reflected beam. This allows freeform reflectors to control the mode profile, rotation angle, and divergence angle of light beams. Control of beam shape enables mode matching between source output mode and target input mode, which results in low-loss optical coupling. An inventive freeform reflective surface can direct light beams in plane or out of plane via specular reflection or total internal reflection. A photonic integrated circuit with this type of freeform optical coupler can operate with a bandwidth range of at least 400 nm, potentially encompassing all visible or telecommunications wavelengths, and can be volume manufactured in photonic chips.
Abstract: A faulted condition determination method is designed to detect a chromium content and a nickel content in a predetermined boundary region proximate to a boundary between a high-strength ferrite steel and a weld material in a welded joint in which the high-strength ferrite steel and another steel are welded together using the weld material containing nickel and to thereby determine the faulted condition of the predetermined boundary region based on the chromium content and the nickel content. Accordingly, it is possible to appropriately determine the faulted condition of welding of a replacement part in which a high-strength ferrite steel and another steel are welded together using a nickel-based weld material.

Abstract: The present invention includes systems and method for generating Virtual IDs (VIDs) and corresponding Virtual ID Chains (VICs) to anonymize and represent transactions between users, data sources, Virtual ID Management Platforms (VMP), and Third-Party Service Providers (TSPs). VIDs of embodiments are virtualized identifiers that may be used to anonymously and uniquely identify transaction participants. VIDs may be generated in a distributed manner as a party receiving transaction-related information generates a VID corresponding to the sending party. VICs of embodiments are virtualized arrays of VIDs that represent the sequence of interactions between parties to a transaction. VICs are preferably stored in association with transaction logs descriptive of the transaction represented by each VIC to facilitate subsequent processing. A VIC may be iteratively resolved to obtain one or more non-virtualized identifier corresponding to transaction participants represented by the VIC.
