Abstract: Disclosed is a method of manufacturing a solid oxide fuel cell including a multi-layered electrolyte layer using a calendering process. The method for manufacturing a solid oxide fuel cell is a continuous process, thus providing high productivity and maximizing facility investment and processing costs. In addition, the solid oxide fuel cell manufactured by the method includes an anode that is free of interfacial defects and has a uniform packing structure, thereby advantageously greatly improving the production yield and power density. In addition, the solid oxide fuel cell has excellent interfacial bonding strength between respective layers included therein, and includes a multi-layered electrolyte layer in which the secondary phase at the interface is suppressed and which has increased density, thereby advantageously providing excellent output characteristics and long-term stability even at an intermediate operating temperature.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for producing a Heusler-based phase thermoelectric material using an amorphous phase precursor. More specifically disclosed is a method for producing a powder or bulk thermoelectric material having a microstructure including a Heusler-based phase with a thermoelectric effect by crystallization of an amorphous phase precursor prepared by a non-equilibrium processes. Also disclosed is a device using a Heusler-based phase thermoelectric material produced by the method. The method largely avoids the efficiency problems of conventional methods, including low productivity in scaling up caused by long annealing time, high annealing temperature, and contamination during nanopowder production, achieving improved process efficiency. In addition, the method enables efficient production of a thermoelectric material having a nano-sized microstructure that is difficult to produce by a conventional method.

Abstract: An IV system can include a first flow regulator configured to restrict flow through a tube and a second flow regulator configured to restrict flow through the tube downstream of the first flow regulator. The first flow regulator can compress the tube a fixed amount to set an initial flow rate through the tube, while the second flow regulator includes a user-adjustable mechanical compression device that compresses the tube to a variable degree to fine-tune the flow rate through to a more precise flow rate that is lower than the initial flow rate. The flow regulators can utilize a purely mechanical means such that electricity is not required. Such systems can provide a simple, low-cost, and low-power way to provide precise flow control to patients, especially neonatal patient, in any environment. Systems can also include flow rate monitoring, alerting, and shutoff components.

Abstract: Disclosed is a new 3D bioprinting method of soft polymeric material such as a hydrogel or elastomer and/or cells for scaffolds or devices with structures. The method utilizes in one aspect extrusion based printing of polymer solutions, hydrogels and cells referred as direct ink writing (DIW) or BioPlotting that is modified to offer break-through advantages. The method may utilize sequential printing of a photocurable polymer solution or matrix material, and a functional hydrogel and/or cells. Printing within or inside of a viscous non-cured layer is accomplished by printing cells directly into the functional hydrogel. The viscous layer does not need to be shear thinning and thus allows use of a wide variety of bioinks never before allowed because of shear thinning and recovery requirement of commonly utilized extrusion based embedded bioprinting approach. Complex printing patterns never before allowed for bioinks are now possible utilizing this new printing method.

Abstract: An inference device makes an inference in accordance with first-order predicate logic by using: a true or false of a proposition that determines a state of a target by using a predicate that represents the state of the target; and an inference rule where a predicate representing a state of a target in an antecedent differs from a predicate representing a state of a target in a consequent. The predicate representing the state of the target in the antecedent and the predicate representing the state of the target in the consequent represent a proposition that determines a state of a target in a different time step.
