Abstract: A cable brake has an electromagnet for selectively releasing a mass to fall down guide rods under the effect of gravity and impact a trigger lever to release a crossbar from a pawl, whereupon pressure springs move a brake plate against a cable strand to halt the cable strand. The pressure springs extend between a first pressure plate at the brake plate and a spaced second pressure plate that can be displaced along a path by a cooperating screw and nut to pre-stress the pressure springs. The pressure springs are relaxed in one end position of the path whereby the crossbar connected to the first pressure plate by a release bar is engaged by the pawl in a starting position.

Abstract: An elevator installation has a vertical elevator hoistway and a plurality of elevator cars individually movable therein. An elevator control system readies at least two of the elevator cars in the hoistway in an area of two mutually adjacent entrance areas. Thus, simultaneous loading/unloading of the elevator cars via the entrance areas is possible. The two elevator cars then travel to destination floors, the first elevator car traveling a distance which is at least as great as that traveled by the second elevator car.
Abstract: A transportation device with steps or pallets arranged in the form of an endless transporter. The transportation device has two or more advance guide rails which are arranged in an advance area of the transportation device, and two return guide rails which are arranged in a return area of the transportation device. Each step or pallet has sliding elements fastened to it have an advance sliding surface and a return sliding surface. In the advance area each step or pallet is oriented with the advance sliding surfaces of the two respective sliding elements on the advance guide rails and slides along the advance guide rails.
Abstract: A lift has a lift cage movable in a lift shaft and is connected with a counterweight by means of at least one support means. The lift cage or counterweight moves by means of at least one drive means separate from the support means. One end of the drive means engages the upper end of the counterweight, is guided by way of a drive pulley and by way of a deflecting roller, and engages at its other end with the lower end of the counterweight. A drive unit drives the drive pulley. The drive means consists of a drive part and a tension part of different characteristics, wherein the drive and tension parts are connected by means of a drive means connection.
Abstract: A drive unit has at least one motor, a motor stand, a bearing block, a drive pulley and a counter-roller attachment. The drive pulley is mounted at the motor stand and at the bearing block by a shaft. A respective brake is arranged at the bearing block at each side. Webs connect the motor stand with the bearing block. The motor stand, the bearing block and the webs form a stable structure without an engine frame carrying the motor stand and the bearing block being necessary. A counter-roller attachment consisting of side plates and a counter-roller is arranged directly at the motor stand and the bearing block.
Abstract: A door with a sliding door leaf has guides that are arranged in the region of an edge of the door leaf. The guides include a belt so aligned that it extends by the belt length thereof longitudinally of the guide surface for the door leaf in the direction of sliding of the door leaf. When the door leaf is sliding, the belt runs with the door leaf in such a manner that a portion of the belt bears against the guide surface when the door leaf is open, closed and sliding and thereby guides the door leaf.
Abstract: A door controller and a method for inputting or adjusting one or more reference positions into the door controller have the controller connected to a door drive for moving a door and utilize a pulse encoder for monitoring a position of the door and a non-volatile memory for storing the reference position. In a learning mode a control force signal to the drive is reduced. Then the door is moved to the reference position and finally the reference position as recorded by the pulse encoder is registered in the memory of the controller.
Abstract: An improved lift system door control or safety circuit utilizes locking devices for the lift shaft doors and lock sensors to monitor the status of the locking devices. The lock sensors are coupled to a lift drive unit control through a data bus, which need not be especially designed as a safety data bus. The lock sensors are repeatedly interrogated at short term intervals. The status of the doors is interrogated on a longer time interval, and such data is also passed to the drive unit control by the data bus. The interrogations are used to determine the operating condition of the locking sensors as well as whether communications or transmission errors are present.
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for thermally protecting an electromagnetic actuator used to suppress vibrations in an elevator installation. The apparatus includes a temperature evaluation unit that determines an actual temperature of the actuator on the basis of a signal proportional to a current supplied to the actuator. A limiter restricts the current supplied to the actuator if the actual temperature of the actuator as determined by the temperature evaluation unit is greater than a predetermined temperature.
Abstract: A method, a system and a computer program product for computer-assisted furnishing of materials in elevator construction, wherein materials are provided with a readable or writable data transmitter, these materials are furnished, data of the data transmitter are written or read with computer assistance and these data are checked with computer assistance.
Abstract: The invention concerns a controlling and/or monitoring device, comprising a plurality of peripherals (Pa, Pb, Pc, Pn), a central control unit (4) and a communication network (5) connecting the central unit (4) to the various peripherals (Pa, Pb, Pc, Pn). The central control unit (4) comprises one or two transmission controllers (41, 42) connected to the various peripherals through a transmission channel (50), each transmission controller (41, 42) comparing context codes (Ka, Kb, Kc, Kn) received from the peripherals with stored reference codes (Ra, Rb, Rc, Rn) to set a security circuit (6) in a security configuration or in a fault configuration, depending on whether or not the compared codes show identical one-to-one correspondence.
Abstract: A drive, a method of operating the drive and an elevator operated by the drive for the movement of persons or goods by at least one car utilize a linear motor. The drive includes at least one linear motor with a secondary part positioned between a first primary part and a second primary part. The drive also includes at least one compensation device that acts by a compensating normal force against an attractive normal force between each of the primary parts and the secondary part.
Abstract: An elevator has deflecting rollers integrated in the car floor. The supporting and driving means is guided in the car floor through a floor channel. A cover serving as protection covers the supporting and driving means running in and running out at the deflecting roller. The hood-shaped cover can be snapped onto the axle of the deflecting roller.

Abstract: In relation with this mechanism for stopping an elevator car is, for the monitoring of the speed of the elevator car, an overspeed governor provided which works based on the swing lever principle, whereby the movement of the elevator car will be transferred by means of a governor rope to the overspeed governor. The governor rope extends itself over the entire shaft height and will be returned at the lower shaft end by means of a deflection sheave and stretched by means of counterweight as well as guided at the upper shaft end over a pulley of the overspeed governor. The ends of the governor rope are fastened on a release mechanics arranged on the elevator car and such release mechanics operates in an emergency a safety gear arranged on the elevator car. With the overspeed of the elevator car a rope brake is released upwards.
Abstract: A belt end connection for fastening a support belt end in an elevator installation and a method for protecting and checking a belt end connection in an elevator installation includes a twisting prevention device that prevents twisting of the belt end connection about the longitudinal axis thereof. A wedge retains the support belt end in a wedge pocket and is secured by a loss prevention device against slipping out of the wedge pocket. The twisting prevention device and/or the loss prevention enable efficient protection of the support belt and/or of the belt end connection against damage and make possible efficient checking and control of the belt end connection.
