  • Patent number: 7401683
Abstract: The present invention automatically detects the onset of instability of an elevator active ride control system and activates a system shutdown if it occurs. As an elevator car is guided along rails by guide elements, a plurality of sensors mounted on the car measure vibration transverse to a direction of travel. The signals from the sensors are input to a controller which in turn produces a controller output signal. This signal is used to energize an actuator positioned between the car and the guide elements and thereby dampen the vibrations acting on the car. As instability sets in, a controller signal increases. The controller signal is monitored by a comparator such that the actuator is deactivated if the controller signal becomes greater than a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 7398869
Abstract: A wheel for driving a flexible handrail of an escalator or moving walk. The wheel can be turned about an axis of rotation and has a readily elastically deformable layer. The readily elastically deformable layer is formed by a body that is stable in form when free of stress. Arranged adjacent to an inner circumferential surface of the readily elastically deformable layer is an inner layer that is stiffer than the readily elastically deformable layer. Adjacent to an outer circumferential surface of the readily elastically deformable layer is an outer layer that is intended to rest against the handrail under static friction. • Patent number: 7389940
Abstract: A method and a device for attaching an elevator guide rail to a substrate via a floating mount. The floating mount includes at least one of a base support, a side support, and a backside support. Each of the supports has a moveable part, a stop and a flexible element floatingly supporting the moveable part. • Patent number: 7387191
Abstract: A method of controlling an elevator installation having an elevator car transporting passengers between floors of a building inputs destinations of the passengers into a destination call control and books destination calls and determines an instantaneous load disposed in the elevator car with a load measuring device at a fixable point in time. In order to make uniform the waiting times of the passengers in the case of incorrect operation of the destination call control and to ensure, for all passengers, an optimized transport time with maximum transport capacity the method additionally compares the instantaneous load with a full load parameter and in the case of exceeding of the full load parameter activating a bypass function those floors for which destination calls are booked and which are passed during a half circuit of the fully loaded elevator car.

  • Patent number: 7370732
Abstract: A method for automatic checking of the availability of an elevator installation having at least one elevator ascertains at least one first estimated value for a use frequency of the elevator for a first time period and/or a second estimated value for the use frequency for a second time period that begins later than the first time period. A measurement value for the use frequency for the first time period is determined and the measurement value compared with at least one of the estimated values. If the measurement value is smaller by a predetermined amount, at least one predetermined command for carrying out at least one test of the elevator installation is given, wherein in the case of availability of the elevator installation the test leads to a desired reaction. Subsequently, at least one reaction of the elevator installation is registered and compared with the desired reaction.

  • Patent number: 7353916
Abstract: A method and system for supervising the safety of an elevator having a car driven by a drive within a hoistway wherein a travel parameter (XABS,X?Acc,X?IGB) of the car is sensed and continually compared with a similarly sensed travel parameter (X?IG) of the drive. If the comparison shows a large deviation between the two parameters, an emergency stop is initiated. Otherwise one of the travel parameters (XABS,X?Acc X?IGB; X?IG) is output as a verified signal (X;X?). The verified signal is then compared with predetermined permitted values. If it lies outside the permitted range then an emergency stop is initiated.

  • Patent number: 7353914
Abstract: A safety system for an elevator installation for the transport of persons/goods in a building and a method for operating an elevator installation with a safety system. Several cages are moved one above the other in a shaft. Each cage is moved by a drive. At least one drive control controls the drives by way of drive control signals. Cage position detecting sensors detect positions of each cage and transmit cage position data to at least one safety control. Access to the shaft takes place by way of opened shaft doors. A lock locks the shaft doors. Lock setting detecting sensors detect settings of the locks of the shaft doors and transmit lock setting data by way of the data bus to the safety control. The safety control ascertains, from the cage position data and the lock setting data, shaft region data with details with respect to shaft regions in which each cage is safely movable.

  • Patent number: 7350625
Abstract: A shaft monitoring system for an elevator installation includes a contactless sensor enabling recognition from the elevator car whether a shaft door lock and a shaft door leaf are in a correct locked setting. A securing device mechanically secures the shaft door lock in order to prevent opening of the shaft door and is mechanically and/or electromagnetically actuatable from the elevator car. The contactless sensor includes an active sensor part arranged at the car door and a passive sensor part arranged at the shaft door lock to be monitored. The active sensor part interacts with the passive sensor part as soon as the elevator car stops behind the shaft door and the shaft door leaf and the shaft door lock are disposed in the correct locked setting. The active sensor part also can transiently interact with the passive sensor part when the elevator car moves past the shaft door.
