Abstract: A passenger transportation system, in particular an elevator system or an escalator, includes an emergency-call system that has a plurality of telephones, a monitoring system that has a plurality of monitoring units for monitoring the functioning of the passenger transportation system, and a central control unit. The monitoring units are suitable for exchanging data between themselves and with the central control unit, the monitoring units, the central control unit, and the telephones being connected to each other via one and the same data conductor.
Abstract: A control panel for an elevator has at least one pressure-sensitive action field in order to trigger an action by pressing. The control panel has a layered construction with a top plate, a base plate and a piezo element. An opening is provided in the top plate to define the action field. The piezo element is seated in the region of the opening between the top plate and the base plate so that by pressing in the region of the action field a force can be exerted on the piezo element and the piezo element delivers an electrical output signal to an electronic circuit. The electronic circuit provides an electrical acknowledgement signal in order to produce a change recognizable at the control panel as an acknowledgement.

Abstract: An elevator installation has a support device engaging a driven drive pulley for driving an elevator car. The support device loops around the drive pulley at least partly and has a safety section which is so arranged that the safety section interacts with the drive pulley when the elevator car or a counterweight after overrunning an upper position approaches an upper shaft end. The safety section is formed in such a manner that a slipping through results due to the interaction between the drive pulley and the support device.
Abstract: An escalator with steps having a tread surface and riser surface has riser brushes arranged at the riser surface. The riser brushes provide a barrier for the gap which is normally present between the tread surface of a first step and the riser surface of an adjacent step. The riser brushes may be mounted to a brush strip which is guided along the riser as the steps transfer between vertical and horizontal travel.
Abstract: An assembly arrangement for a lift construction supports the lift drive at the upper end of both a support column and lift cage and counterweight guide rails, allowing the lift drive load to be transferred to the floor of the lift by each of the supporting members. The support of the lift drive upon the rails may be accomplished through setting screws that allow the load applied to the rails to be adjusted.

Abstract: An elevator installation with an elevator case, an elevator shaft, and a drive unit. The elevator cage is installed in the elevator shaft to be movable and is controllable by the drive unit so that the elevator cage can be stopped in different positions in the elevator shaft. The elevator shaft is equipped with a detecting device which detects whether a person is standing in a critical zone in the elevator shaft or is about to go into this. The detecting device is connected with the drive unit so that the elevator installation can be transferred to a special mode of operation in case a person is standing in the critical zone or is about to go into this. The drive unit includes special control equipment which in the special mode of operation stops the elevator cage before it moves into the critical zone. In that case the detecting device and the special control equipment are designed to be operationally safe in order to prevent movement of the elevator cage into the critical zone.
Abstract: A crimping device has for each crimper an anvil including a conductor anvil provided with a force sensor on which the force that arises in the conductor anvil during the crimping operation acts. The conductor anvil rests on a sensor body which in turn rests on a supporting part of the crimping device. The force sensor measures the force that is required to manufacture the conductor crimp, the quality of the crimped fastening being assessable by reference to the force curve generated by the force sensor.
Abstract: A crimping device has a contact advancer provided with an exchangeable anvil part. A first pulley, a belt and an advancing motor drive a first carriage. A gripper for advancing the contact belt is guided in a direction crosswise to a direction of the first carriage. The distance between the gripper and the first carriage is determined by a second carriage and a roller of the gripper rolling in a fifth linear guide of the second carriage. The distance from the gripper is predetermined by the exchangeable anvil part and depends on the width of the contact belt. The gripper operates independent of the distance between the transport holes and independent of the width of the contact belt. The anvil part including the belt guide is an exchangeable part and only fits one type of crimp contact and is executed crimp-contact specifically.
Abstract: An escalator or moving walkway with a handrail and a handrail entryway has a finger contact protection cover, wherein the finger contact protection cover includes corrugated bristles. The corrugated bristles allow the gap between the handrail and the entryway to be minimized. The bristle construction also provides improved tactile feedback when a user's hand contacts the bristles, allowing the hand to be more quickly removed from the handrail and contact with the bristles, avoiding potential injury.
Abstract: A method and equipment for checking a support device such as used in an elevator installation. The method and equipment detects reductions in cross-section of the tensile supports in the support device by heating the tensile supports with electrical current flow and determining the temperature at surface of surrounding sheathing. An increase in the temperature from an original measurement is an indicator of damage to the tensile supports.
Abstract: A device moves a door seal for a displaceable door panel of an elevator car in an elevator installation with an elevator shaft having shaft doors. The movable door seal is arranged so that the door panel in a closed state is sealed off. The device includes an entrainer unit connected with the door panel and upon stopping of the elevator car at a floor executes a part movement. The device also includes a coupling mechanism mechanically connecting the entrainer unit with the door seal to bring the door seal out of a sealing position into an open position when the entrainer unit executes the part movement.
Abstract: An elevator car has a car roof which can be lowered into the passenger compartment by means of a drive device and in the lowered position serves as a platform for the maintenance personnel for the performance of maintenance and checking operations. The drive device actuates several Bowden pulls.

Abstract: A drive for an elevator installation which drives a car and a counterweight with a supporting and driving belt includes a drive shaft and at least one drive pulley driven in rotation by a motor. An air guide element is arranged in the region between the motor and the drive pulley and guides air from the region of the supporting and driving belt along the drive shaft and through the motor.
Abstract: A drive-capable support or traction member and a method for the production thereof. The support or traction member has at least one layer of strands of synthetic fiber material and an outer casing encasing the strands. A lubricant is selectively incorporated in the support or traction member so that the strands are lubricated for movement relative to one another with a coefficient of friction.
Abstract: A method of transporting a user by a transport, particularly by an elevator, utilizes a control unit, a first communications unit and a mobile second communications unit carried by the user. A destination call is lodged at the control unit by the second communications unit. The control unit determines at least one transport for serving the destination call. The transport is made known to the user on the second communications unit. Moreover, the control unit generates a destination signal and communicates this to the first communications unit. The transport transports the user to a destination corresponding with the destination call. The destination signal is transmitted by the first communications unit to the second communications unit and made known to the user on the second communications unit.
Abstract: A method and a system for emergency evacuation of building occupants and to a method for modernization of an existing building with the evacuation system. The system is used in a multi-story building having a plurality of floors and with at least one elevator positionable at selected landings of the floors. A first device is provided for measuring the number of persons in the building and a second device is provided for detecting an emergency condition in the building. At least one control unit is provided for determining or for estimating a number of building occupants in the building. The control unit defines at least one evacuation zone in the building during the emergency condition. Based on this information, the control unit defines at least one designated floor in the building during the emergency condition. Then the system evacuates the building occupants with the elevator car and/or a stairway from the evacuation zone to the designated floor.
