  • Publication number: 20070034454
Abstract: In an elevator installation, an apparatus and a method use a support end connection for fastening a support device to an elevator car, a counterweight and/or a building. The support device has at least one cable or cable strand enclosed by a cable casing and is held in a wedge pocket by a wedge. The cable casing is formed of thermoplastic material or an elastomer and the cable or the cable strand is glued to, fused together with or mechanically connected with the cable casing in the region of the support end connection. A friction force transmitted from the support end connection to the cable casing can then be directly passed on to the load-bearing core of the support device, to the cables or to the cable strands. The tolerable tension force in the support device is increased. The support device is preferably a multiple cable.

  • Patent number: 7172055
Abstract: A method and a device for maintenance of an elevator or escalator installation includes an interface for connection of a controller of the installation with a display and control unit for display of operating parameters or for input of control commands and data, and connection equipment for creating a data connection with a maintenance center. Data and parameters stored in the maintenance center can be transferred to the display and control unit by the data connection after an identification check. A fault log with a specification of operating faults and/or a specification of the replacement parts coming into question for rectification of the operating faults can be produced, which is transferred by the data connection from the display and control unit to the maintenance center, can be produced for example to cause ordering of missing replacement parts.

  • Publication number: 20070025314
Abstract: A method of controlling access to an area accessible by persons, particularly to a space closed by a door, utilizes a first mobile communications unit on which at least one access code is filed and a receiver unit for receiving the access code. In a first variant of the method, when an activation signal is transmitted by the communications unit within a predetermined range of the receiver unit, the receiver unit is activated and the access code is transmitted from the communications unit to the receiver unit. After a successful check of the access code by the receiver unit the access is freed. In a second variant, when the activation signal is transmitted by the receiver unit within a predetermined range of the communications unit, the receiver unit is activated. The access code is subsequently transmitted from the communications unit to the receiver unit and after a successful check of the access code by the receiver unit the access is freed.

  • Publication number: 20070025315
Abstract: A method of controlling access to an area accessible by persons, particularly to a space closed by a door, utilizes at least two communications units for transmitting and receiving an identification code and an access code. The identification code is transmitted at a predetermined first transmission power from a first communications unit to at least one second communications unit. The second communications unit checks the identification code and transmits an acknowledgement code at a second transmission power, which is lower than the first transmission power, from the second communications unit to the first communications unit if the check of the identification code was successful. The first communications unit transmits an access code to the second communications unit. After a successful check of the access code by the second communications unit the access is freed.

  • Publication number: 20070026801
Abstract: A method for exchange of data between a mobile communications unit carried by a user and at least one of a first communications unit, a second communications unit and a computer unit positioned at different locations in an environment such as a building. When the first communications unit and the mobile communications unit are spaced at a predetermined distance, a near-field radio connection is generated within this distance. After data exchange between the mobile communications unit and the first communications unit, the data are communicated by the first communications unit to the computer unit. When the second communications unit and the mobile communications unit are spaced from one another at the predetermined distance, a near-field radio connection is generated within this distance. A data exchange takes place between the mobile communications unit and the second communications unit by the near-field radio connection.

Abstract: A method of guiding a user in an environment particularly in a building, utilizes at least one first communications unit communicating data to a mobile second communications unit carried by the user. The first communications unit transmits a contact signal within a predetermined range for establishing contact with the second communications unit. If the second communications unit is located within the range and receives the contact signal, contact is established between the first communications and the second communications unit. In order to enable guidance of the user through the environment by means of the second communications unit, data are communicated from the first communications unit to the second communications unit.

  • Publication number: 20070007083
Abstract: A progressive safety device for an elevator includes a brake unit and an actuating unit. The brake unit has a first brake shoe with first spring assemblies and a triangular rotatable support with second and third brake shoes. The actuating unit has an electromagnetic actuator with a locking bolt, a guide bolt with a coaxial compression spring and an actuating arm. On actuation, the compression spring moves the actuating arm against a guide rail whereby grooves on the actuating arm create a frictional engagement with the guide rail turning the actuating arm about a swivel bearing and through a follower turning the support. With the turning motion and the engagement of one of the second and third brake shoes with the guide rail, the first brake shoe is guided against the guide rail and generates the necessary braking force on the guide rail.
