Abstract: A safety brake device has a setting device moving an abutment or a housing to limit movement of brake wedges engaging a guide rail which limits a braking force applied by the brake wedges. The setting device can continuously adjust the braking force limit in dependence on a magnitude of a mass to be braked.

Abstract: A method and a device for determining the rectilinearity of guide rails wherein a guide rail is oriented substantially parallel to a reference axis. At least one light beam is emitted along the reference axis by a light source and is detected by a light detector. When the light source or the light detector is displaced along the guide rail, warping and twisting of the guide rail can be detected as changes in the spacing between the guide rail and the reference axis.
Abstract: A method of controlling an elevator installation having a plurality of cars in a building with floors subdivided into several zones wherein travel orders are allocated to the cars. There is no allocation to an elevator car, which has just been allocated a travel order out of or into one of the zones, of any travel order out of or into another of the zones. In the case of a call after a new travel order the number of free elevator cars is compared with the number of still unallocated or still unserved zones and the allocation of the new call and is carried out in dependence on the comparison result.
Abstract: A panel for an elevator installation has a predetermined number of floor buttons for generating hall calls or car call commands wherein a single floor button or a floor button combination is provided for each floor. The panel can be converted by a converter button or a sensor so that all floors are also selectable by a decade keyboard formed by a portion of all the floor buttons. All floors are thus selectable comfortably and without restriction even by handicapped persons.
Abstract: A door suspension assembly includes a ferromagnetic flat plate horizontally extending from a support rail adapted to be attached to a door frame above a doorway or entrance portal. Two supporting blocks each have an opening in which a cylindrical bearing with an axial hole is located. The supporting blocks are attached to a door panel. Connectors extend downwardly from the flat plate and support a tube that extends through the holes in the bearings. A magnet array is supported by an upper plate attached to upper ends of the supporting blocks with a small magnetic gap between the magnet array and the flat plate such that the magnet array generates a magnetic force lifting the supporting blocks and the door panel. A primary of a linear motor is attached to the upper plate between the supporting blocks and cooperates with a secondary located in the interior of the tube to move the door panel relative to the flat plate.
Abstract: An elevator pit assembly for mounting and supporting car and counterweight rails, preferably in a tri-rail configuration, has first and second plates joinable in alternative right-angle configurations. The first plate accommodates a rail assembly having car and counterweight rails and a spaced lone counterweight rail, while the second plate accommodates a lone car rail. The plates may be bolted together through flanges.
Abstract: A system presents multimedia contents in elevator installations. At least one user profile with multimedia contents is provided for an associated elevator user. When the user is identified in proximity to the elevator system, the multimedia contents carried in his user profile are presented to him. The multimedia contents are made available to the elevator installation through a protective wall.
Abstract: A cable elevator includes a car which travels on first parallel guides and a counterweight which travels on second parallel guides, the guides being located in a respective first and second parallel planes. Drive machinery is arranged on an engine mount between the guides, the first guides extending upward past the mount, the second guides ending at the mount. Laterally spaced lower guide elements and laterally spaced upper guide elements are fixed to the car and engage the first guides. A support cable is fixed to the underside of the car so that the car can pass the drive machinery vertically.
Abstract: In an escalator, a handrail is supported medially and reversed by means of a reversing sheave, which rotates about an axle which has approximately the width of a balustrade. The axle is held by at least one supporting cheek. A handrail-drive, which is integrated in the balustrade base, drives the reversing sheave by means of a drive-wheel, the handrail, which is guided over a diverter roller, being carried along by friction from the reversing sheave.
Abstract: A monitoring system for monitoring doors such as a shaft or cabin door, of a lift installation includes a sensor element associated with the doors for monitoring the state or position of the door. An evaluation system is connected to the sensor element and evaluates the sensor signals. The evaluation system can perform continued evaluation in short time intervals in order to provide a continuous record of the state of the monitored doors and temporal changes in the signal characteristics of the sensor signals.
Abstract: Sensing equipment for monitoring the space in front of escalators for the control of the drive has sensors arranged in handrail inlet caps of the escalator balustrades. Each sensor consists of a transmitter and a receiver and operates with high-frequency waves. The sensors monitor the access to the escalator in a specific region in front of the entry to the escalator, for example the region of the entrance plate. On entry into the monitoring region of a sensor the high-frequency waves emitted by the transmitter are reflected by the person or object and picked up by the associated receiver and the escalator drive is switched on.
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for monitoring an elevator door include a sensor for detecting three-dimensional image information. Processing equipment evaluates the image information of detected images to recognize a deviation between two images and trigger a situation-adapted reaction. The sensor includes a light source mounted in the region of the elevator door so that the elevator door is disposed at least partly in the illuminated region of the light source. In addition, the sensor includes a sensor group mounted so that it receives light reflected from the door.
Abstract: An escalator has a step-band with steps for the transport of persons. The step-band is bounded on its sides by a balustrade held by a balustrade base. A handrail-drive drives the handrails, and has friction-wheels driving the handrails on the outside of the handrails. Rollers press upon the insides of the handrails, pressing the handrail against the friction-wheel. At least one further friction-wheel arranged on a step chain-wheel drives the friction-wheel through frictional or mechanical engagement.
Abstract: A handrail-drive for an escalator or moving walk drives the handrail through frictional contact with an outside surface of the handrail. Press-on rollers engaging the inside of the handrail may be employed to press the handrail against a drive-wheel of the drive. The force of the rollers may be adjustable. The drive-wheel may include a gas-filled tire on a rim and can be driven by a motor, a step-chain wheel, or a step-chain drive.
Abstract: A cable slackness monitoring device has a pull cord to detect movement of support pins associated with the cables. In the case of a slack cable the support pin moves downwardly relative to a carrier frame. Fixedly clamped between a nut and a locknut is a trigger element which engages the pull cord in the case of movement of the support pin. The pull cord is fixed at one end to a fixing point of a bracket, and is, and is connected at the other end to a displaceable slide. The deflection of the taut pull cord caused by the movement of the support pin moves the slide, actuating a limit value detection.
Abstract: A crimp press apparatus with first and second crimping stations includes at each station a device platform with device stations and a crimp press. A cable is advanced by a tape drive whereby the leading cable end is supplied to the first crimping station. After the leading cable end is provided with a crimping contact, the tape drive continues to advance the cable until the desired length of a cable section is reached. A separation and a stripping station separates the cable section from the cable and removes the insulation at the cable ends. The lagging cable end of the cable section is supplied to the second crimping station for assembly with a crimping contact. With the device stations located on a rotatable disk, a change of a type of contact to another type of contact is possible with minimum downtime of the crimp press apparatus.
Abstract: A device for active vibration damping dampens the structural resonance of an elevator car frame with a car body through measurement of the deformation of the frame. Under elastic deformation, a safety plank and a crosshead of the frame move parallel and relative to each other and two acceleration sensors aligned vertically (in the “z” direction) capture the movement. From the difference between the sensor signals, the “y” rotation of the safety plank and the crosshead is determined. The rotation and the signals from acceleration sensors on the frame are used to determine the shear movement of the frame.
Abstract: Elevator cars move in two vertical hoistways each having at least one crossing-point to a third vertical parking hoistway arranged between the two hoistways to allow transfer of the elevator cars between adjacent ones of the hoistways. A control system and a drive move empty elevator cars through the crossing-points for parking and for responding to calls for service.
Abstract: For reduction in externally excited oscillations there is provided at an escalator or a moving walkway an oscillation damper which is connected with the escalator or the moving walkway within a self-supporting region, preferably at the point of greatest oscillation displacement. The oscillation damper is preferably a speed-proportional plate damper comprising plates which move relative to one another in viscous oil.
Abstract: A device for attaching a code strip to a supporting structure of an elevator is in the form of a fitting tool capable of being guided along the supporting structure to play out an extended length of code strip material. The fitting tool has a guide shoe and a strip station mounted to the guide shoe for attaching the code strip to the supporting structure as the fitting tool is slid along the supporting structure, such as a guide rail, by a mechanic.
