Patents Assigned to Ishikawa Gasket Co., Ltd.
  • Patent number: 5570892
Abstract: A metal gasket of the invention is used as a cylinder head gasket or a manifold gasket. The gasket is formed of a metal plate for constituting a metal gasket, at least one fluid hole, a plurality of bolt holes, and a bead formed in the metal plate to completely surround the fluid hole for sealing the same. The bead includes a waving portion at a portion where high pressure is applied when the engine is operated, and a non-waving portion. The waving portion has a covering area greater than that at the non-waving portion. Therefore, the waving portion can support pressure without creep relaxation.

  • Patent number: 5551702
Abstract: A metal laminate gasket of the invention is engaged with an engaging projection of an engine part for immovably locating the gasket on the engine part. The gasket is basically formed of first and second metal plates laminating together. The first plate includes at least one first hole and at least one engaging portion extending into the first hole. The second plate is situated above the first plate, and includes at least one second hole larger than the diameter of the engaging projection and at least one restricting portion. When the gasket is urged against the engine part, the engaging portion deforms and engages the engaging projection, while the restricting portion restricts bending strength of the engaging portion. The gasket is not accidentally disengaged from the engaging projection.

  • Patent number: 5544900
Abstract: A manifold gasket of the invention is used for sealing around manifold holes of a manifold, wherein at least three manifold holes are arranged side by side. The gasket is formed of a first metal plate extending around the manifold holes to constitute a manifold gasket, and two spacers attached to two longitudinal end portions of the plate. The first metal plate includes first holes corresponding to the respective manifold holes, and beads situated around the respective first holes for sealing therearound. Each spacer includes a second hole greater than an outer shape of the bead to allow the bead to be situated inside the second hole. The thickness of the spacer is less than the height of the bead. Thus, the manifold gasket can be securely fixed to an engine part through the spacers without creep relaxation of the beads, while the bead not surrounded by the spacer absorbs deformation of the manifold by heat.

  • Patent number: 5538263
Abstract: A metal laminate gasket of the invention is used for an internal combustion engine formed of a cylinder head and a cylinder block. The gasket is basically formed of two metal plates laminated together. The gasket has a rectangular shape, and includes a plurality of cylinder bores arranged in a longitudinal direction of the gasket, and a plurality of bolt holes arranged to surround the cylinder bores. The gasket has two lateral side portions, each being defined between a lateral edge and a line linking centers of bolt holes located adjacent to the lateral edge. Edge support shims are installed between the plates at the lateral side portions to substantially completely support tightening pressure of the bolts applied to the lateral side portions. Thus, deformation of the cylinder head is prevented, and substantially equal tightening pressure can be formed around the entire cylinder bores.

  • Patent number: 5536024
Abstract: A metal gasket of the invention is used for an internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinder bores therein. The gasket is formed of at least one metal plate. The metal plate includes a plurality of holes corresponding to the cylinder bores, and at least one intermediate portion between the holes adjacent to each other. A plurality of beads is formed around the respective holes. The width of the bead at the intermediate portion is narrower than that at the rest of the bead, and the height of the bead at the intermediate portion is higher than that at the rest of the bead. Thus, the bead at the intermediate portion provides a sufficient surface pressure to seal thereat.

Abstract: A metal laminate gasket of the invention is formed of first and second metal plates laminating together. The first plate includes at least one first hole for receiving therein an engaging projection of an engine part, and a plurality of first engaging portions and first non-engaging portions alternately arranged to each other to define the first hole. The first engaging portions have first curved inner edges for forming a first imaginary hole with a diameter smaller than a diameter of the engaging projection. The second plate includes at least one second hole corresponding to and located above the first hole, and a plurality of second engaging portions and second non-engaging portions alternately arranged to each other to define the second hole. The second engaging portions have second curved inner edges for forming a second imaginary hole with a diameter smaller than the diameter of the engaging projection.

  • Patent number: 5511796
Abstract: A metal laminate gasket of the invention is installed in an internal combustion engine having at least one hole to be sealed. The gasket is formed of a plurality of metal plates to form a metal laminate gasket, an auxiliary sealing device formed around a first hole of the gasket for sealing therearound, and an annular shim situated between the metal plates and located outside the auxiliary sealing device. The auxiliary sealing device is compressible, while the shim is non-compressible. When the gasket is tightened, surface pressure greater than that on the auxiliary sealing device is formed on the shim to thereby securely seal around the first hole without causing deformation of the hole of the engine due to high surface pressure around the hole.

  • Patent number: 5482298
Abstract: A metal laminate type cylinder head gasket is formed of at least two metal plates for constituting the gasket. The gasket includes a plurality of cylinder bores arranged in a longitudinal direction, a plurality of first holes situated in longitudinal end areas of the gasket, and at least one second hole situated in a longitudinal middle area of the gasket. The gasket also includes a plurality of first grommets situated in and around the first holes, and at least one second grommet situated in and around the second hole. The thickness of the second grommet is thinner than that of the first grommet. Thus, when the gasket is tightened, tightening pressure is concentrated in the longitudinal middle area to thereby reduce deformation of a cylinder head.
