Patents Assigned to Ishikawa Gasket Co., Ltd.
  • Patent number: 5375856
Abstract: A protecting member of the invention is used for a gasket situated between two engine parts. The protecting member includes a spring member situated between the two engine parts and located around bolt. When the bolt is tightened, the spring member abuts against the engine parts and is compressed to provide predetermined pressure to the bolt through the engine parts. Thus, when an outward force applied to the bolt increase, an amount of the outward force exceeding the predetermined pressure, i.e. the tightening pressure, is only applied to the bolt to absorb a part of the outward force. When an inward force applied to the bolt decreases, the predetermined pressure of the spring member acts against the inward force applied to the bolt. Thus, the pressure changes to the gasket is reduced to prevent creep relaxation of sealing means of the gasket.

  • Patent number: 5368316
Abstract: A metal laminate gasket of the invention is used for an internal combustion engine. The gasket is basically formed of first and second metal plates piled together, and includes a cylindrical portion integrally formed on the first metal plate with a first hole, and a second hole formed in the second plate. The cylindrical portion extends substantially perpendicularly to the first plate, and has an axial length along the inner periphery at least equal to the thickness of the gasket. The second hole has a diameter greater than an outer diameter of the cylindrical portion. When the gasket is assembled, after the cylindrical portion is inserted into the second hole, the cylindrical portion is enlarged to press fit against the inner periphery of the second hole. Thus, the first and second metal plates are firmly connected together without portions extending outwardly from outer surfaces of the gasket.

  • Patent number: 5348311
Abstract: A metal laminate gasket of the invention is basically formed of first and second metal plates laminating together, and a plurality of fixing devices for connecting the first and second metal plates. The fixing devices are formed inside the gasket at the portions where sealing ability of the gasket is not affected. Each fixing device is formed of a hole formed in the first plate and a bending strip formed in the second plate. The bending strip is located under the hole of the first plate and is formed by partly cutting the second plate. When the first and second plates are assembled, the bending strip extends through the hole of the first plate and is located above the first plate.

  • Patent number: 5344165
Abstract: The metal gasket of the invention is installed in an internal combustion engine. The engine includes at least one cylinder bore, a plurality of bolt holes and at least one fluid hole. The gasket is basically formed of a metal plate and includes holes corresponding to the holes of the engine. The gasket includes a bead for sealing around the fluid hole, to which different tightening pressure is proportionally applied when the gasket is tightened. The bead includes at least one first portion where high tightening pressure is applied, and at least one second portion where moderate tightening pressure is applied. The second portion has spring constant less than that of the first portion. When the gasket is tightened, the bead is compressed according to the tightening pressure applied thereto to thereby properly seal around the fluid hole.

  • Patent number: 5316322
Abstract: A metal plate for a gasket is provided with a plurality of beads around portions to be sealed. The beads intersect together to form an intersecting portion, which has an outer edge to surround the intersecting portion, a center portion in the center thereof, and a surrounding portion situated between the center portion and the outer edge. A cutting portion penetrating through the plate is formed at the center portion. When the metal plate is tightened, the cutting portion operates to disperse stress applied to the center portion of the intersecting portion. Therefore, equal surface pressure is formed on the intersecting portion as well as the beads.

  • Patent number: 5306024
Abstract: A metal gasket of the invention is designed to reduce heat transfer between two engine parts. The gasket is formed of at least two plates having holes to be sealed and bolt holes, a sealing device formed around the hole to be sealed, and a space forming device formed on at least one of the plates to separate the plates apart. Spacers are formed around the bolt holes so that bolts can be tightened up to a predetermined thickness. When the gasket is tightened, the sealing device is compressed to seal around the hole, but the two meal plates do not closely abut against each other by means of the space forming device. Accordingly, heat is partly radiated through the gasket, and heat transmission between the engine parts is reduced.

  • Patent number: 5306023
Abstract: A cylinder head gasket of the invention is formed of a main plate extending substantially throughout the entire area of the gasket, sealing devices formed around the cylinder bores, and at least one auxiliary plate laminated over the main plate. The auxiliary plate is situated at least in an intermediate area of the main plate surrounded between the two adjacent holes corresponding to the cylinder bores. The auxiliary plate includes two edge portions extending at least partly along the cylinder bores adjacent the intermediate area, a base portion between the two edge portions, and two turning portions laminated over the respective edge portions. When the gasket is tightened, the edge portions and the turning portions provide high surface pressure around the cylinder bores. Accordingly, leakage of gas at the intermediate area is prevented.

  • Patent number: 5272808
Abstract: A cylinder head gasket prepared by a method of the invention is installed between a cylinder head and a cylinder block. In the method, a plate is prepared at first to have at least one hole smaller than a hole of the engine to be sealed. The first plate is bent around the first hole so that the first plate is provided with a curved portion defining a hole corresponding to the hole of the engine, a flange extending away from the curved portion, and a space around the curved portion. The curved portion is compressed to eliminate the space to thereby form a solid portion by the flange and an annular portion. A second plate having a hole larger than the flange is prepared and is assembled with the first plate. The second plate is located at a side opposite to the flange of the first plate. The second plate does not laminate the flange of the first plate.

  • Patent number: 5269541
Abstract: A gasket of the invention is installed between two engine parts of an internal combustion engine. The gasket may be formed of one metal plate including at least one first hole, at least one sealing device formed around the first hole, and a plurality of bolt holes for attaching the gasket to the engine. The metal plate further includes at least one second hole situated adjacent to the first hole between the two bolt holes, and a bead around the second hole. The second hole is arranged such that a substantial portion of the second hole is located outside an imaginary line linking between centers of the two bolt holes adjacent to each other. The bead includes an inner section near the first hole having spring constant weaker than a remainder of the bead. Therefore, when the metal plate is tightened between the engine parts, the bead can be compressed equally to securely seal around the second hole. The metal plate may be combined with other metal plates to constitute a steel laminate gasket.
