  • Patent number: 9523573
Abstract: Sinusoidal signals (S1, S2) having a phase difference of 120° are output from two magnetic sensors in accordance with rotation of an input shaft. A first rotation angle computation unit computes a rotation angle ?(n) on the basis of output signals S1(n), S1(n?1), S2(n), S2(n?1) from the magnetic sensors, which are sampled at two sampling timings. At this time, the first rotation angle computation unit computes the rotation angle ?(n) on the assumption that there are no variations of amplitudes of the output signals (S1, S2) from each one of the two sensors due to temperature changes between the two sampling timings.

  • Publication number: 20160362136
Abstract: In a steering assist device, a correction gain setting unit sets correction gain to one if it determines that that the sign of a lateral deviation change rate is different from that of a second derivative value of a lateral deviation. The correction gain setting unit sets the correction gain to a predetermined value that is larger than one, if it determines that that the sign of the lateral deviation change rate is the same as that of the second derivative value of the lateral deviation. A gain multiplication unit corrects a lane keep assist current value calculated by a lane keep assist current value calculation unit by multiplying the lane keep assist current value by the correction gain set by the correction gain setting unit.

  • Patent number: 9518844
Abstract: Angular widths of respective magnetic poles of a detection rotor are stored and divisions are set for respective magnetic pole pairs. Based on output signals from first and second magnetic sensors, a rotation angle computation unit computes first and second rotation angles that are rotation angles within the corresponding division. Based on the angular widths, the rotation angle computation unit identifies the magnetic pole sensed by the first magnetic sensor and computes a first absolute rotation angle using the first rotation angle. Based on the identified magnetic pole and the second rotation angle, the rotation angle computation unit computes a second absolute rotation angle. The rotation angle of the detection rotor is computed based on the first and second absolute angles.

  • Patent number: 9511796
Abstract: A power steering system includes an EPS and a HPS. At normal times, an assist force required by a steering system is computed based on a steering torque and a vehicle speed, and the required assist force is generated by the EPS and the HPS. The torsional stiffness of a torsion bar of the HPS is equal to or substantially equal to the torsional stiffness of a torsion bar of the EPS. Therefore, even if the EPS malfunctions, it is possible to gain the steering feel similar to that when the EPS is operating properly.

  • Patent number: 9511795
Abstract: The invention relates to a method to assist with turning a vehicle power assisted steering wheel, during which method a return setpoint (final return setpoint) quantifying a return force intended to be applied to said steering wheel in order to assist with returning said steering wheel to a predetermined central position is formulated, said method involving at least one step (a) of determining longitudinal acceleration during which step the instantaneous longitudinal acceleration of the vehicle is evaluated, followed by a step (b) of adapting the return setpoint during which step the steering wheel return setpoint is adjusted according to said instantaneous longitudinal acceleration so as to increase the intensity of the return force if said longitudinal acceleration increases, and thus notably compensate for the lessening of the natural centring effect that is caused by the lightening of the steering under acceleration conditions.
