  • Publication number: 20130344894
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for distinguishing between LOCATION_REPORT messages to avoid ambiguities. Therefore, a value of an information element of request type is returned by a radio network controller, depending on an intended receiver of the location information. A control node receiving the information element value analyses said value and determines the receiver depending on the result of said analysis.

Abstract: A radio resource management method is provided. Data for transmission is stored. The stored data is associated with user equipment (UE). A channel quality is estimated. A first modulation and coding scheme (MCS) is determined based at least in part on the estimated channel quality. A first number of scheduling blocks (SBs) required to transmit the stored data is determined based at least in part on the first MCS. The first number of SBs are a minimum of an initial number of SBs and available amount of SBs. A link quality is calculated based at least in part on a channel condition associated with the first number of SBs. A second MCS is determined based at least in part on the calculated link quality and a link quality requirement.

  • Publication number: 20130343347
Abstract: A method in a legacy access node for selecting a suitable RAN, of a plurality of RANs for a LTE UE, capable of both PS and CS sessions in a global communication network. The method comprises connecting the UE to a legacy RAN via a radio interface module and then establishing a PS session with the connected UE. The bandwidth that the UE currently is consuming is monitored and compared with a predefined bandwidth threshold. If the consumed bandwidth exceeds the predefined bandwidth threshold an attempt will be made to trigger transferring of the UE from the current legacy RAN to the LTE RAN. A corresponding method is disclosed in a eNodeB where the attempt to trigger transferring of the UE from the LTE RAN to the legacy RAN is made if the consumed bandwidth falls below the predefined threshold. Related legacy access nodes and eNodeBs perform the methods.

  • Publication number: 20130343219
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a network node of a wireless network, and to a related method for determining a margin of an interference level. The network node controls at least one white space device, and the interference level is associated with a critical position and a channel available for secondary usage by the at least one white space device. The method comprises the following steps: (a) initializing (410) the margin; (b) determining (420) a transmit power level for the at least one white space device when transmitting on the channel available for secondary usage, based on the interference level with the margin added; (c) calculating (430) a probability that an aggregated interference from the at least one white space device at the critical position exceeds the interference level, based on the determined transmit power level and a channel model uncertainty; and (d) modifying (440) the margin of the interference level if the calculated probability falls outside of a probability interval.

  • Publication number: 20130343483
Abstract: Embodiments include a method for predistorting an input signal at a predistorter to compensate for distortion introduced by a non-linear electronic device operating on the input signal to produce an output signal. The method entails generating first and second signal samples for each of a plurality of sampling time instances. The first and second signal samples represent the input and output signals, and are spaced at unit-delay intervals. The method further entails calculating, from the first and second signal samples, parameters for an ANN-based model. The ANN-based model includes a tapped delay line configured to dynamically model memory effects of the distortion introduced by the device, or of the response of the predistorter, with a multi-unit delay interval between at least one pair of adjacent delays. The method also includes predistorting the input signal according to the ANN-based model, to produce a predistorted input signal for input to the device.

Abstract: A radio base station and a method therein are provided for scheduling a radio resource to a user equipment. The radio base station estimates a first channel quality and determines a pathloss between the user equipment and the serving radio base station and a gain based on the pathloss. The radio base station also obtains a gain of the user equipment towards of neighbouring radio base stations, and determines a fraction of the determined pathloss, based on the gain and the obtained gains. The radio base station further determines a second channel quality of the channel based on the estimated first channel quality, the determined fraction and the determined pathloss to be compensated for; and schedules a radio resource for the user equipment based on the determined second channel quality.

  • Publication number: 20130343279
Abstract: The invention includes methods of using IMS Centralised Services, ICS, in the selection of a service domain relating to a call involving a User Equipment, UE, being served by a CS access network. In one aspect a method includes receiving a request from a routing node, such as a Mobile Switching Centre, MSC, or a Gateway Mobile Switching Centre, GMSC, for a service domain selection at a Service Control Point, SCPin the UE's IMS network (801). The SCP has a Service Domain Selection, SDS, function, which retrieves data relating to the UE from a Domain Selection function (802). Based on the retrieved data, the SDS selects either the IMS service domain or the CS service domain as the service domain for routing the call (803), and sends an indication of the selected service domain to the routing node (805). Other aspects include methods for domain selection at the originating and terminating sides of the call, and network entities configured to carry out the methods.
