Abstract: A Virtual Network Function (VNF) is provided for deployment in a Network Function Virtualization Infrastructure (NFVI). First, an input is obtained that includes a description of available software components, configuration requirements specifying service types to be provided by the VNF, and infrastructure information specifying resources provided by the NFVI. The infrastructure information includes characteristics of virtual machines (VMs). For each service type, a VNF component (VNFC) configuration is generated. The generated VNFC configuration optimizes usage of the resources and satisfies requested service availability. A VNF configuration is formed that includes a collection of VNFC configurations created for the service types. The VNF configuration is delivered to a Network Function Virtualization (NFV) system for the deployment of VNFC instances on the VMs thereby providing the VNF.

Abstract: A method of testing a communication network. The method comprises providing network communication service to communication service subscribers by a first set of computing resources that are part of a communication network, replicating communication data packets, directing the replicated communication data packets to the first set of computing resources and to a second set of computing resources that are part of the communication network but which do not provide network communication service to communication service subscribers, introducing a random error into the second set of computing resources, capturing by a testing application executing on a server computer the outputs from the second set of computing resources after processing the replicated communication data packets in the context of the random error, analyzing the captured outputs by the testing application, determining that the captured outputs indicate a failure by the testing application, and taking action by the testing application.

Abstract: Power allocation in printing devices is disclosed. Independent load requests are received from printing device heater systems. A first load request is received from a first heater system and a second load request is received from a second heater system. Power grants are allocated based on a general power arbitration of a power source in response to the independent load requests. The power grants include a first power grant based on the first load request and a second power grant based on the second load request. The power grants are adjusted based on a contextual printing condition. The power grants are adjusted to apportion a measure of the second power grant to the first power grant rather than provide the measure of the second power grant to the second heater system if a print substance density is outside a selected print substance density threshold.

Abstract: An information handling system includes a transceiver and a processor. The processor detects a first RF signal of the RF signals received by the transceiver from a first access point (AP), and determines whether an energy level for the first RF signal is above a energy level threshold. If so, the processor determines whether basic service set (BSS) color of the first RF signal is the same as BSS color of a second RF signal from a second AP. If not, the RF signal is coming from a different network. The processor calculates distance to the second AP, determines and configures receive sensitivity energy level threshold based on the calculated distance. If the energy level of the first RF signal is less than the receive sensitivity energy level threshold, the processor continues to receive RF signals from the second AP, and continue to reject RF signals from the interfering network.
Abstract: An information handling system may include at least one processor, a memory coupled to the at least one processor, and an information handling resource including a firmware. The information handling system may be configured to: boot into an operating system stored on the memory; after booting into the operating system, receive, from at least one remote server, information regarding a vulnerability associated with the firmware; based on a security policy, determine a resolution for mitigation of the vulnerability; and store information regarding the resolution in a storage location accessible to a preboot environment of the information handling system, wherein the preboot environment is configured to apply the resolution upon a subsequent boot of the information handling system.

Abstract: Systems and methods for sensing emotion in voice signals and dynamically changing suggestions in a call center are disclosed. According to one embodiment, a computer-implemented method comprises receiving a call from a customer at a call center. A sample of the call is recorded and the Mel-Frequency Cepstral coefficient is extracted from the sample. A machine learning model predicts an emotion of the customer and generates a confidence score for the emotion. A script of a call center agent is modified based on the emotion and the confidence score.
Abstract: Power monitor information in an information handling system may be adjusted based on a battery voltage to account for a battery discharge state. The power monitor information may be scaled higher when the battery voltage is low to encourage the system to throttle and decrease power consumption. This adjustment increases the likelihood that the battery remains within safe operating limits.

Abstract: Devices, computer-readable media and methods are disclosed for determining reachability for a wavelength connection in a telecommunication network. For example, a processor deployed in a telecommunication network may calculate a fiber loss on a link in the telecommunication network using optical power measurements and determine that a destination node of a wavelength connection is not reachable via a path that includes the link based upon the fiber loss of the link that is calculated. In one example, the determining is based upon a number of links in the path, an effective fiber loss for each link in the path, a penalty for nodes in the path, and an acceptable loss value. The processor may further perform a remedial action in response to determining that the destination node of the wavelength connection is not reachable via the path.
