Abstract: The process according to the invention for treating water in a treatment plant comprising a reaction chamber in which a biodegradable material present in the water is biodegraded at least partly by microorganisms, in the course of which, at least temporarily, water is transferred out of the reaction chamber into a separating chamber and the biodegradable material and the microorganisms are separated at least partly from the water therein, a return stream comprising biodegradable material and at least some of the microorganisms flowing out of the separating chamber into the reaction chamber via a recycle line, is characterized in that at least some of the following substances: a) the biodegradable material and b) the microorganisms are treated with ozone (O3), an amount of 15 to 150 milligrams of ozone per kilogram of dry substance of the biodegradable material and of the microorganisms being added per hour in the reaction chamber.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for analyzing electric cables in a network, for the detection and location of defects in networks comprising at least one junction from which there depart N secondary cable stretches. The method includes interposing in the network, in series at the input of each the secondary stretches (T2, T3) starting from the junction (A), a respective bidirectional passive filter (FR2,FR3) able to cut off a frequency band associated with this stretch. The filters all allow through the useful frequencies for the normal operation of the network. A pulsed test is applied to the input of the network signal modulated by N different carrier frequencies each situated in one of the N frequency bands of the filters. The temporal position of test signal spikes reflected for each of the N frequencies is detected, and deducing therefrom the position of possible defects on a stretch of cable of the network.

Abstract: A source controller provides a block of n×a information bits as n separate rows each with a information bits. A row encoder has an input coupled to an output of the source controller and includes a plurality of accumulators arranged to process m of the information bits in one clock cycle to generate row forward error correction FEC bits. At least one column encoder has an input coupled to an output of the source controller and is arranged to generate column FEC bits in parallel with the row encoder. A multiplexer is coupled to outputs of the row and column encoders and is adapted to serially output an nth row of information bits followed by the nth row FEC bits for each of the n rows, followed by additional rows of FEC bits generated by the column encoder. The terms n, m, and a are integers greater than one. Where more than one column encoder is used, there are preferably m column encoders in parallel and each operating at one bit per clock cycle.

Abstract: A multi-needle chain-stitch quilting machine and method of operation thereof are provided that imparts relative motion between the needles and the material that is controlled so as to pull needle thread tails from the needle side of the quilted material. The feature of controlling thread tails may be optional to provide selection of either a high speed mode of operation without thread tail control or a quality mode of operation with reduction or removal of needle thread tails from the face of the quilted material. Thread trimmers may be included at each needle location on the looper side of the material to cut both needle and looper threads.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for power management of a network element. In one embodiment of the invention, a networking card configuration request is received for a type of networking card irrespective of a networking card of that type being inserted into the network element. The network element does not enable networking cards unless they are successfully configured and inserted. The amount of power that the networking card consumes is determined without reading a power consumption value from that card. If it is determined that allowing that type of networking card to be configured would exceed the power capacity of the network element, the configuration request is denied and the networking card, if or when inserted remains disabled and is not powered up. However, if allowing that type of networking card to be configured would not exceed the power capacity, the configuration request is accepted, the amount of power that type of networking card consumes is allocated, and the card will be enabled when inserted.

Abstract: At present, the existing mechanisms for authorizing a user of a service network operator to access a service provided by a third party service provider are valid for most of the existing services based on a request and an answer, but for transactional services, those where a service delivery implies several transactions, the existing techniques present serious limitations for the operators to fully control the progression of services. To overcome this limitation, the invention provides means and methods to control the progression of a service, service which requires a plurality of transactions, at a first domain where the service has been authorized while the user is using said service provided by a second domain, as well as a verification mechanism for verifying the use of the service between the service network operator and the service provider.

The first handle controls the selection of the adjustment device's angular position and a safety limit clutch. The rotation of said first handle forces the traction of a first tensional element that moves a limit switch that runs transversely to said support and is shaped as steps that selectively interact with a limit switch linked to the abovementioned base support. The device includes a torsion bar that elastically limits the movement of the base support. The torsion bar cooperates with means that regulate its tension. As such, the device provides quick and easy adjustment of the backrest extension into various positions.
