  • Patent number: 8069452
Abstract: Methods and agent for correlating event notifications are provided wherein the agent comprises an interface receiving an event notification, a Peer Agent Notification Category List (PANCL) storing peer agent notification categories of event notifications that other agents are interested in receiving from the agent, and a notifications processing engine that determines if the event notification matches the peer agent notification categories of the PANCL. Upon positive determination the first event notification is sent at least to a second agent associated with the matched peer agent notification category of the PANCL. In another aspect, the agent comprises a manager notifications log storing identities of event notifications sent from the agent to the manager and a notifications processing engine that determines if a received peer agent event notification matches any event notifications of the log.

  • Patent number: 8066953
Abstract: Apparatus and method for hydrolyzing biological material for safe disposal thereof without the necessity of incineration or use of disinfectants are described. An alkaline solution having a concentration and an amount effective for hydrolyzing the biological material is brought into contact therewith by means of rotating paddles which both pound the biological material into small pieces and thoroughly mix the alkaline solution with the material under pressure and at elevated temperature. Following the hydrolysis of the biological material, a chosen portion of the water is removed from the alkaline solution and from the liquefied biological material, such that the resulting product solidifies when cooled. The present safe disposal of the biological material does not require incineration thereof, the addition of disinfectants thereto, or the discharge of liquid effluent containing processed biological material into the sewage system.

  • Patent number: 8068532
Abstract: Coded digital data symbols sent through a transmission channel of a communications network are received in a receiver. Estimates (y) represented by a first number (a+b) of bits are calculated, and modified estimates (y?) represented by a second number (c) of bits provided therefrom, the second number being lower than the first number. An amplitude value is calculated for each estimate (y), and an averaged amplitude value calculated for a number of amplitude values. A scaling factor (s) is calculated form the averaged amplitude value, and scaled estimates generated in dependence of die scaling factor. The scaling factor is used for a number of scaled estimates corresponding to the number of amplitude values for which the averaged amplitude value was calculated. Thus a better scaling factor is provided for most channel cases, which can still be calculated with the limited computational resources of a terminal for such networks.

  • Patent number: 8068557
Abstract: An IQ-modulator pre-distorter includes an iteratively updated digital filter (gQ0, gQ1) for filtering one of the branches of an IQ-signal to compensate for IQ-modulator generated amplitude errors. An iteratively updated digital filter (cQI0, cQI1), cross-connected from one of the branches to the other branch, filters one of the components of an IQ-signal to compensate for IQ-modulator generated inter-modulation between the branches. Iteratively updated compensators (dcI, dcQ) counteract IQ-modulator generated offset errors.

  • Patent number: 8068535
Abstract: In receiving equipment such as a mobile terminal (1) for decoding received signals coded according to a CDMA method are decoded in an intermediate processor (9). In the decoding, coefficients or elements of a vector w are calculated in a unit or module (13) by an iterative method as a solution to a system of linear equations represented by the matrix equation Rw=h, where R is a matrix of known elements and h is a known vector. For terminating the iteration, a value of the signal to interference plus noise ratio SINR for the received signals is calculated in each iteration step and then this calculated value or a quantity derived therefrom is used as a stopping criterion or generally in a stopping algorithm.

  • Patent number: 8065879
Abstract: A process for the integration of a cryogenic air separation plant and an oxy-combustion power plant is presented. This process includes producing a pressurized nitrogen stream and a pressurized oxygen stream, burning a fuel stream thereby generating a steam stream from a boiler feed water stream, wherein the stream is used for work expansion within the oxy-combustion power plant. This process also includes heating the pressurized nitrogen stream and the pressurized oxygen stream with a compressed air stream, thereby forming a heated pressurized nitrogen stream and a heated pressurized oxygen stream. This process also includes heating the heated pressurized nitrogen stream to form a hot pressurized nitrogen stream, work expanding the hot pressurized nitrogen stream to a lower pressure thereby forming a hot exhaust nitrogen stream and recovering energy, and heating the boiler feed water stream by indirect heat exchange with the hot exhaust nitrogen stream.

  • Patent number: 8069249
Abstract: A method and a device in a communication apparatus for maintaining an established connection between said apparatus and a network node. The connection is established by a mobility management unit for providing a mobility management procedure. An acceptance message is issued by the node in response to a request relating to a first mobility management procedure. If any request relating to a second mobility management procedure issued by an upper layer is received by the mobility management unit after the request relating to the first procedure is transmitted and before the acceptance message is received, a maintaining request to maintain the connection is transmitted to the node in response to the acceptance message.

  • Patent number: 8068555
Abstract: In a transmitter or transceiver, signals can be precoded by multiplying symbol vectors with various matrices. For example, symbol vectors can be multiplied with a first column subset of unitary matrix which spreads symbols in the symbol vectors across virtual transmit antennas, a second diagonal matrix which changes a phase of the virtual transmit antennas, and a third precoding matrix which distributes the transmission across the transmit antennas.

  • Publication number: 20110289257
Abstract: A request for reading data from a memory location of a main memory is received, the memory location being identified by a physical memory address. In response to the request, a cache memory is accessed based on the physical memory address to determine whether the cache memory contains the data being requested. The data associated with the request is returned from the cache memory without accessing the memory location if there is a cache hit. The data associated is returned from the main memory if there is a cache miss. In response to the cache miss, it is determined whether there have been a number of accesses within a predetermined period of time. A cache entry is allocated from the cache memory to cache the data if there have been a predetermined number of accesses within the predetermined period of time.
