Abstract: An illustrative method for transferring data to a device includes identifying the data that is to be transferred to the device, modulating the data with a signal, providing the signal to a contact microphone that is in physical contact with an individual, and transmitting the signal through a body of the individual to the device using the contact microphone. An illustrative method for authenticating the individual includes transmitting a signal through a body of the individual in response to the individual physically contacting an authentication device, receiving a modified signal including the signal as modified by the body of the individual, removing the signal from the modified signal to identify a unique body signature of the individual, comparing the unique body signature to a database to determine if the database includes the unique body signature, and selectively authenticating the individual based upon whether the database includes the unique body signature.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes viewing visual interface documents through a visual interface browser. A visual interface browser is caused to be displayed on a user device. A visual interface document representing a technical interface specification is retrieved from a repository in response to user selection of a technical interface icon through the visual interface browser. Sub-document technical data associated with the visual interface document is retrieved from the repository. The visual interface document including sub-document technical data is caused to be displayed on the user device. Notes associated with the visual interface document and associated with an authenticated user of the user device are caused to be displayed on the user device.
Abstract: A system, method, and media edge proxy, MEP, for providing media data such as Internet Protocol Television, IPTV, or Internet radio channels to a media client. The MEP obtains the media data from a media server utilizing a temporary unicast connection and provides the media data obtained from the server to the media client for an initial time period. Upon determining that the initial time period has expired, the MEP obtains the media data via multicast from a multicast router, provides the media data obtained from the router to the media client, and releases the temporary unicast connection. The invention reduces channel switching delay and thus improves quality-of-experience for the end-user. The invention also avoids excessive IGMP JOIN/LEAVE signaling when a user switches quickly through channels.

Abstract: Methods for treating polycystic ovary syndrome with therapeutic renal neuromodulation and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. The polycystic ovary syndrome can be associated, for example, with a condition including at least one of oligo/amenorrhea, infertility, hirsutism, obesity, metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, and increased cardiovascular risk profile. One aspect of the present technology is directed to methods that at least partially inhibit sympathetic neural activity in nerves proximate a renal artery of a kidney of a patient. Central sympathetic drive in the patient can thereby be reduced in a manner that treats the patient for the polycystic ovary syndrome. Renal sympathetic nerve activity can be modulated along the afferent and/or efferent pathway. The modulation can be achieved, for example, using an intravascularly positioned catheter carrying a therapeutic assembly, e.g.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for determining precoding weights between a base station and one user equipment in a communication network. The base station is provided with an antenna structure having multiple antennas, and the antenna structure provides coverage in a coverage area. The precoding weights are stored in a codebook available to the base station and the user equipment. The method comprises: selecting to use a part of the coverage area; determining, at the base station, a subset of precoding weights stored in the codebook generating at least one precoding beam within the selected part of the coverage area; and informing the one user equipment of the determined subset of pre-coding weights generating the at least one precoding beam within the selected part of the coverage area.

Abstract: A transponder system that is adapted to be positioned in an aircraft includes a transponder that is adapted to transmit information pertaining to the aircraft in which the transponder is positioned includes at least one receiver that is adapted to receive information including information pertaining to another aircraft. The receiver(s) is adapted to receive different types of data on multiple different frequencies. A display, which may be integral with the system housing or remotely mounted, is adapted to display (i) information received by said receiver and/or (ii) information to guide user input selection of information transmitted by said transponder. The housing houses the transponder, the receiver and, in one embodiment, the display. The existing transponder in the aircraft can be removed thereby leaving an opening in the aircraft and the transponder installed in the opening.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for graph-based distributed parameter coordination in a communication network. In general, discrete local parameters to be coordinated among communication nodes in the communication network and their respective performance metrics, or costs, are modeled using a factor graph. Based on the factor graph, a variant of the sum-product algorithm, namely the min-sum algorithm, is applied in order for the communication nodes, through iterative message passing with their neighboring communication nodes, to decide upon optimal values for the local parameters for the communication nodes that collectively optimize a global performance metric across the communication network. In one embodiment, the communication network is a wireless communication network. In one specific embodiment, the wireless communication network is a cellular communication network.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes a reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer. The reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer includes a first optical equalizer to precompensate a received optical signal for optical filtering effects to produce a first compensated optical signal. A first interleaver, coupled to the first optical equalizer, separates the first compensated optical signal into an odd optical signal and an even optical signal. A plurality of wavelength selective switches processes the odd optical signal and the even optical signal. A second interleaver, combines the odd optical signal and the even optical signal to produce a combined optical signal. A second optical equalizer, coupled to the second interleaver, postcompensates the combined optical signal for optical filtering effects to produce an output optical signal.
