Patent number: 10802278Abstract: Technology is described for (3D) space carving of a user environment based on movement through the user environment of one or more users wearing a near-eye display (NED) system. One or more sensors of the NED system provide sensor data from which a distance and direction of movement can be determined. Spatial dimensions for a navigable path can be represented based on user height data and user width data of the one or more users who have traversed the path. Space carving data identifying carved out space can be stored in a 3D space carving model of the user environment. The navigable paths can also be related to position data in another kind of 3D mapping like a 3D surface reconstruction mesh model of the user environment generated from depth images.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 2019Date of Patent: October 13, 2020Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing LLCInventors: Anthony J. Patent number: 10801182Abstract: In one aspect, the present subject matter is directed to a system and method for controlling the operation of a work vehicle based on the multi-mode identification of operator inputs. Specifically, the movement of an input device of the work vehicle may be monitored relative to two or more movement ranges defined within or across the range of positions defining the input device's overall travel range. When it is detected that the operator has made a pattern of input device movements relative to one of the movement ranges, a new operating mode may be selected or activated that adjusts the transfer function used to control the movement of a component of the work vehicle based on the position of the input device.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2018Date of Patent: October 13, 2020Assignee: CNH Industrial America LLCInventors: Raul Espinosa, Duqiang Wu, Aditya Singh, Navneet Gulati

Patent number: 10801787Abstract: The various technologies presented herein relate to fabrication and operation of a heat exchanger that is configured to extract heat from an underlying substrate. Heat can be extracted by way of an air gap formed between an impeller and a baseplate. By utilizing a pump to create an initial air gap that is further maintained by rotation of the impeller relative to the baseplate, a spring can be utilized that can apply a force of greater magnitude to the impeller than is used in a conventional approach, thus enabling the weight of the impeller to be negligible with respect to a width of the air gap, thereby conferring the desirable feature of orientation independence with respect to gravity with no performance degradation.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 2019Date of Patent: October 13, 2020Assignee: National Technology & Engineering Solutions of Sandia, LLCInventor: Wayne Lawrence Staats, Jr.

Patent number: 10801433Abstract: Methods for determining an irregular fuel request (IFR) for vehicle engines coupled to driveshafts via clutched transmissions are provided and include: determining an idle condition of the engine, generating one or more fuel requests during the idle condition, and determining an IFR based on a clutch control parameter and a fuel request generated during the idle condition. The idle condition of the engine is determined based on a vehicle speed and an engine speed if the vehicle speed and engine speed are below respective thresholds. An IFR is determined if a fuel request falls outside a range, and/or if the clutch control parameter is such that the clutch does not substantially impart load to the engine. The idle fuel request range is determined based on a combustion mode of the engine and/or a gear state of the transmission. The method further includes implementing a control action after determining an IFR.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 2018Date of Patent: October 13, 2020Assignee: GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS LLCInventors: Nicholas Girardi, Neil Anderson
