  • Patent number: 10802278
Abstract: Technology is described for (3D) space carving of a user environment based on movement through the user environment of one or more users wearing a near-eye display (NED) system. One or more sensors of the NED system provide sensor data from which a distance and direction of movement can be determined. Spatial dimensions for a navigable path can be represented based on user height data and user width data of the one or more users who have traversed the path. Space carving data identifying carved out space can be stored in a 3D space carving model of the user environment. The navigable paths can also be related to position data in another kind of 3D mapping like a 3D surface reconstruction mesh model of the user environment generated from depth images.

  • Patent number: 10805640
Abstract: Techniques and tools for reducing latency in video encoding and decoding by constraining latency due to reordering of video frames, and by indicating the constraint on frame reordering latency with one or more syntax elements that accompany encoded data for the video frames. For example, a real-time communication tool with a video encoder sets a syntax element that indicates a constraint on frame reordering latency, which is consistent with inter-frame dependencies between multiple frames of a video sequence, then outputs the syntax element. A corresponding real-time communication tool with a video decoder receives the syntax element that indicates the constraint on frame reordering latency, determines the constraint on frame reordering latency based on the syntax element, and uses the constraint on frame reordering latency to determine when a reconstructed frame is ready for output (in terms of output order).

  • Patent number: 10803983
Abstract: A system and method for auto-regulating therapeutic administration to a patient for achieving artificial homeostasis. The system includes a plurality of modules designed to create an automated therapeutic administration system. An auto-regulation module maintains a target vital level within a patient by comparing measured levels with stored target levels; a delivery module delivers an amount of a therapeutic to a patient based on instructions from the auto-regulation module, and a sensor module measures patient levels and transmits the measurements to the auto-regulation unit. The auto-regulation module compares the measured levels with the stored target levels, and, based on the comparison, instructs the delivery module to alter the amount of therapeutic administered to the patient, in an effort to match the measured levels with the target levels, thereby creating a closed feedback loop designed to achieve an artificial homeostasis for a patient.

  • Patent number: 10799174
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a system and method of determining muscle efficiency and inefficiency in a patient or subject and being able to quantitatively determine measurements that communicate between practitioners the condition, the health, and the efficiency state of any muscle. The efficiency of a muscle is defined by the ability of the brain to bridge a proper communication to the muscle by sending normal action potentials; the bridge is often compromised during injury, improper training, or from poor habits of bodily movement. The standardization of these efficiencies allows for the isolation of particular areas of the muscles that are inefficient and efficient. Further, with varied application of specific electrical pulses, a bridge that mimics the natural action potential is provided and can enhance muscle efficiency in a way that achieves higher levels of success in bodily healing and physical training than in any prior art.

  • Patent number: 10800615
Abstract: A powder feeder includes a hopper holding powder particles and a rotating conductive wheel having a rim. The rim has a powder landing surface in a groove in the rim. As the wheel rotates, the powder landing surface is disposed below the hopper. A voltage supply electrically communicates with an electrode and the wheel. The electrode and powder landing surface have a space between them. An insulator is disposed between the electrode and the wheel. The voltage supply produces an AC electric potential between the electrode and the rim that creates an alternating electric field within the space. An outlet chamber is positioned below the wheel. The electric field created within the space causes powder particles falling onto the powder landing surface and rotating under the electrode to develop an electrical surface charge. An electrostatic force causes powder particles to oscillate between the pile and the insulator. After a period of oscillation the particles drop over the edges of the rim and into the chamber.
