Abstract: Playback and distribution systems and methods for multimedia files are provided. The multimedia files are encoded with flags associated with the content data of the multimedia files. Through the use of the flags, playback of the content is enhanced without significantly increasing the file size of the multimedia file.

Abstract: According to the invention, there is provided seed and plants of the hybrid corn variety designated CH101273. The invention thus relates to the plants, seeds and tissue cultures of the variety CH101273, and to methods for producing a corn plant produced by crossing a corn plant of variety CH101273 with itself or with another corn plant, such as a plant of another variety. The invention further relates to genetic complements of plants of variety CH101273.

Abstract: Embodiments of this disclosure are directed to an execution profiling handler configured for intercepting an invocation of memory allocation library and observing memory allocation for an executable application process. The observed memory allocation can be used to update memory allocation meta-data for tracking purposes. The execution profiling handler can also intercept indirect branch calls to prevent heap allocation from converting to execution and intercept exploitation of heap memory to block execution.

Abstract: A system and method for allocating drivers to procure targets, such as automobiles. These targets are then transported to a desired drop-off destination. The entire system is automated, such that a requestor may hire drivers that are certified by the system and would satisfy requirements associated with the target, such as proper driver's license and location of the driver relative to the target. The system is powered by an internet based mobile application that is designed to match individual drivers to auto dealers, auction houses, driving transport companies and other businesses and individuals (“requestors”) seeking to move automobiles, goods, services, tasks, etc. from one location to another. The system has been designed to find, organize, and manage drivers and all aspects of the trip on a real time basis and reduce the cost of the existing system.

Abstract: A computing device includes a digital ink system that provides digital ink support to applications on the computing device. Digital ink inputs are received by the digital ink system, which provides ink stroke data for the digital ink inputs to the application for storage in a manner and format the application desires. The digital ink system also generates a digital ink container associated with the digital ink input, and communicates the digital ink container to a digital ink repository. The digital ink repository stores digital ink containers for multiple applications, and can be searched from a computing device to identify digital ink input to an application regardless of which application the digital ink was input to.

Abstract: An apparatus for securing a package includes a flexible tear-resistant bag and an anchor system for securing the bag to a substrate. The bag includes a receptacle defining a package receiving space and a closure mechanism connected to the receptacle for selectively closing the receptacle. The anchor assembly includes a housing, a fastener, and an anchor securable to the substrate. The housing may be positioned in the package receiving space with the fastener extending through the housing and the receptacle and matingly received in the anchor. A door of the housing may be secured in a closed position to limit access to the fastener. In some embodiments, the bag of the apparatus may also be provided with an alarm system so if an unauthorized entry is attempted by cutting the tear-resistant bag the alarm system will emit an alerting signal.

The apparatus also includes: N2 waveguides, where N2<=N1, each having an input port coupled to a corresponding one of the N1 output ports, and a waveguide output port; N3 frequency-selective elements where N3<=N2, each having an input port coupled to a corresponding one of the N2 waveguide output ports and an output surface from which optical emission occurs at an optical frequency-dependent angle; and an element receiving optical emission from the N3 output surfaces, detecting a corresponding intensity pattern.

Abstract: A high-pressure fuel injection system includes a nozzle housing and a nozzle needle that is axially displaceable in the nozzle housing and with which an outflow opening in a valve seat of the fuel injection nozzle can be closed and opened. At least one pulsation reducer is arranged between the nozzle needle and an inside of the nozzle housing. The pulsation reducer includes a plurality of breakwater elements that dampen pressure pulsations in the fuel flowing through the injection nozzle to the outflow opening.

Abstract: A lift system includes an overhead support, a counterweight, a base unit including a brake and secured to a floor, a fly line, and a load line. The fly line connects the counterweight, the overhead support, and the base unit via pulleys. The brake is configured to engage the fly line to limit movement of the counterweight and a load. A manual rope brake includes a housing having a base portion, an upper portion, and a hinge rotatably connecting the upper portion to the base portion. A cam lock is within the housing between pulleys. The cam lock engages a rope when the brake is engaged, and disengages from the rope when the brake is disengaged. A portable lift system includes a container configured to carry pulleys, a base unit, a fly line, and a load line when the lift system is in transport. Related methods are also disclosed.

Abstract: A computer user interface (UI) is capable of generating a sound when a predetermined event occurs. The sound generated when the predetermined event occurs may possess at least some characteristics of a predominant natural language used by a user and/or a location of a computer implementing the UI. This enables the user to quickly assimilate the sound generated when the predetermined event occurs. Because the user quickly assimilates the sound generated when the predetermined event occurs, the user is able to rapidly respond to the predetermined event, at times using the computer UI, which reduces undesirable memory use, processor use and/or battery drain associated with a computing device that implements the computer UI.

Cinchable carrying bags are reconfigurable between and open, substantially flat configuration and the present disclosure relates to cinchable carrying bags, cases, or luggage. In particular, present disclosure relates to portable, soft-sided or textile bags configured for reducing the volume or footprint of a load of goods, such as soft goods, contained therein. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to reconfigurable bag templates configured for receiving a load of goods while in an open or substantially flat configuration, wrapping around the load of goods into a folded configuration, reducing the volume or footprint of the goods in a cinched configuration, and securing or containing the cinched goods in a closed configuration. The present disclosure relates to cinchable carrying bags, cases, or luggage.

Abstract: An apparatus for determining a fluid's kinematic viscosity from ultrasonic energy that has passed through the fluid of unknown viscosity along an acoustic path of known length. A computer of the apparatus determines a characteristic frequency of a received electrical signal associated with the ultrasonic energy and measures the fluid's velocity of sound. The kinematic viscosity of the fluid is determined by the computer on a continuous basis based on the characteristic frequency and the sound velocity. A method for determining a fluid's kinematic viscosity.

Abstract: There is set forth herein a superconducting lead assembly comprising: a positive superconducting wire; a negative superconducting wire, wherein the positive superconducting wire is configured to conduct inflow current to a cryogenic apparatus and wherein the negative superconducting wire is configured to conduct outflow current away from the cryogenic apparatus; and an electrically insulating separator, wherein the positive superconducting wire and the negative superconducting wire are arranged proximately one another and on opposite sides of the electrically insulating separator for cancellation of electromagnetic forces attributable to current flowing simultaneously in opposite directions within the positive superconducting wire and the negative superconducting wire, and wherein a length of the superconducting lead assembly is flexible. In one embodiment the positive superconducting wire and the negative superconducting wire can include high temperature superconducting (HTS) material.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for extending the trust relationship established with a network interface device that provides access to a service provider network that includes an IP-based overlay network. The trust relationship is extended to a consumer premises equipment (CPE) device operating on the overlay network. A network element of the service provider network may authenticate the CPE device when communicating via the overlay network. The service provider network may store an association between network configuration data of the network interface device and the CPE device provisioned via the network interface device and may provide the CPE device with an identity token that encodes this network configuration data. The CPE device may provide the identity token to a network element of the service provider network, and the service provider network may authenticate the identity of the CPE device using the identity token provided.

Abstract: A notification system automatically sends notifications to users based on the defined roles of the notifications. The notification system allows an application to define in a secure manner users to roles. The notification system also allows the users to register in a secure manner their devices with the notification system. The notification system allows the application to then send a notification to users with a target role. Upon receiving the notification, the notification system identifies the devices of the users with the target role and sends the notification to those devices.

Abstract: Techniques for implementing zone redundant computing services in distributed computing systems are described herein. In one embodiment, a computing device is configured to query a database in a first availability zone for a list of computing services corresponding to a user account and provided by servers in a second availability zone different than the first availability zone. The computing device can then selects one or more computing services provided by the servers in the second availability zone from the queried list of computing services and transmit an instruction to the servers in the second availability zone for performing the requested data operation.

Abstract: A system and method for auto-regulating therapeutic administration to a patient for achieving artificial homeostasis. The system includes a plurality of modules designed to create an automated therapeutic administration system. An auto-regulation module maintains a target vital level within a patient by comparing measured levels with stored target levels; a delivery module delivers an amount of a therapeutic to a patient based on instructions from the auto-regulation module, and a sensor module measures patient levels and transmits the measurements to the auto-regulation unit. The auto-regulation module compares the measured levels with the stored target levels, and, based on the comparison, instructs the delivery module to alter the amount of therapeutic administered to the patient, in an effort to match the measured levels with the target levels, thereby creating a closed feedback loop designed to achieve an artificial homeostasis for a patient.

The first transistor is configured to sample a first current of a control line. The second transistor is configured to apply a second current to the control line. The second transistor is also configured to match the second current to the first current. The first switch is connected in series between a control terminal of the first transistor and a control terminal of the second transistor. The second switch is connected in series between the second transistor and the control line. The third switch is connected in series between the first current source and the control line.

Abstract: A radio frequency (RF) switch includes a stressed phase-change material (PCM) and a heating element underlying an active segment of the stressed PCM and extending outward and transverse to the stressed PCM. In one approach, at least one transition layer is situated over the stressed PCM. An encapsulation layer is situated over the at least one transition layer and on first and second sides of the stressed PCM. A stressor layer is situated over the encapsulation layer and the said stressed PCM. Alternatively or additionally, contacts of the RF switch extend into passive segments of a PCM, wherein adhesion layers adhere the passive segments of the PCM to the contacts.
