Abstract: A method and system perform perimeter security and control of a vehicle. The system includes a radar system arranged in the vehicle, a maximum range of the radar system being less than 100 meters, and a communication unit to communicate with the radar system. The system also includes a control system of the vehicle to control the platform based on the radar system. The control system dynamically controls each door of the vehicle according to a location of the communication unit relative to the platform.

Abstract: Providing backup of virtual machines can be performed by a backup server. The backup server can maintain log-in credentials for a central management server and a virtual machine host. If communication is lost between the backup server and the central management server, the backup server can initialize a connection directly to the host and back up a target virtual machine.

Abstract: In biometric ticketing, physical token-less ticketing system using biometrics, a person may be identified using a digital representation of a biometric. Ticketing information may be ascertained based on the identification. The ticketing information may be provided, actions may be performed using the ticketing information, and so on. In some implementations, a checkpoint device receives biometric data from a person. A digital representation of the biometric data is used to obtain an identifier from an identification system. The digital representation of the biometric data may not be included in the identifier. The identifier is used by to obtain ticketing information from a ticketing system. The person may be allowed or denied entry into a ticketed area based on the ticketing information.

Abstract: Embodiments provide swallowable devices, preparations and methods for delivering viable cells (VC) into the GI tract including GI wall tissue or other tissue site. Particular embodiments provide a swallowable device such as a capsule for delivering VC into an intestinal wall or other site. The VC can be contained within a tissue-penetrating shell disposed in the capsule that protects the VC as they pass through the GI tract until they are inserted into GI tract tissue or other location. The shell desirably has shape, size and material consistency to be contained in a swallowable capsule, delivered from the capsule into solid tissue by the application of force on the shell and biodegrade within the solid tissue to release the VC into the tissue. Within the shell or other structure the VC can be maintained in a viability-sustaining gel that preserves the viability of the VC for selected time periods.

Abstract: Described are techniques for determining a quotation score that would be applicable across lines of insurance and/or carriers, and which involves the collection in real time of sensor information from plural groups of sensors deployed in a specific premises and associated with intrusion detection, access control, burglar, fire alarm systems and surveillance systems and/or other systems that monitor for physical/chemical/biological conditions. The techniques execute unsupervised learning models to continually analyze the collected sensor information to produce sequences of state transitions that are assign scores and from which a quotation score is produced.

In some embodiments, a system for mapping a space comprises a communication device configured to receive location data from a portable user device in a user space, a device location database configured to store location data, and a control circuit. The control circuit being configured to aggregate, over time, the location data in the user space from the portable user device and store the location data in the device location database, the location data comprising coordinates and timestamps associated with a plurality of locations, determine a plurality of dwell locations in the user space corresponding to locations where the portable user device rests based on the timestamps of the location data, and identify one or more objects in the user space based at least on the coordinates of the plurality of dwell locations.

Abstract: A method of presenting media content is disclosed. A plurality of assets is received at a mobile device comprising a display and an orientation sensor. The plurality of assets comprises a first video asset associated with a first aspect ratio, and a second video asset associated with a second aspect ratio, different from the first aspect ratio. A desired aspect ratio is determined based on an output of the orientation sensor. In accordance with a determination that the desired aspect ratio is closer to the first aspect ratio than to the second aspect ratio, the first video asset is selected. In accordance with a determination that the desired aspect ratio is closer to the second aspect ratio than to the first aspect ratio, the second video asset is selected. The selected video is presented at the desired aspect ratio via the display.

In some embodiments the player plays multiple sequential game hand by placing a wager, receiving game indicia from the finite set cumulatively excluding any game indicia previously dealt, playing the game hand to completion, collecting the game indicia from the player and excluding the dealt game indicia from further play, and displaying at least the excluded game indicia or any winning combinations precluded by the excluded game indicia. In some embodiments the game hands continue in sequence until a restoration event, which may include a manually triggered restoration or an automatic restoration event that restores the excluded game indicia. The bioabsorbable tissue support may be inserted standing alone, or in association with a permanent or temporary non-bioabsorbable tissue support, may define the shape of the punctured hole, and/or may release useful or ornamental chemicals into the punctured tissue. The chemical may include an antibacterial material, an antifungal material, an antimicrobial material, topical anesthetic, a temporary or permanent dye material, and/or an antiproliferative agent. The non-bioabsorbable tissue support may include a self-expanding material that enlarges the size of the puncture in time. The bioabsorbable tissue support may have the form of a tube and/or a mesh of variable peripheral shapes, be elongated, and/or have attachable and detachable end plates and pointed tips.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure relate to allocating digital channels into spectrum chunks in a wireless distribution system (WDS). In a WDS, a central unit is configured to communicate downlink and uplink communications signals with a plurality of remote units over a plurality of downlink and uplink communication links. In one aspect, discrete downlink channels in the downlink communications signals are grouped into downlink spectrum chunks at the central unit when the processing circuitry at the central unit is underutilized. In another aspect, discrete uplink channels in the uplink communications signals are grouped into uplink spectrum chunks at the remote units when the processing circuitries at the remote units are underutilized. By grouping discrete downlink channels into downlink spectrum chunks and/or grouping uplink discrete channels into uplink spectrum chunks, it is possible to optimize system resource utilization in the WDS, thus providing enhanced overall performance in the WDS.

Abstract: The disclosure provides for a system that includes a network controller configured to determine a network configuration of a network and cause the network to implement the network configuration. The network controller may be configured to determine that an overall link bandwidth for a particular geographic area is less than a set bandwidth amount based on link bandwidth information for possible links directly connected to the particular geographic area. Based on a difference between the overall link bandwidth and the set bandwidth amount, the network controller may be configured to determine additional links to connect to the particular geographic area in a given network configuration of the network. The network controller may then send instructions to the plurality of nodes of the network to cause the plurality of nodes to implement the given network configuration and transmit client data at the given point in time.

Rotary support systems include a mast configured to support an elevated device and a base that includes a rotary mechanism that rotatably couples the mast to the base. The rotary mechanism is configured to selectively rotate the mast. The mast has a cross-sectional profile that is non-circular. Rotary support systems additionally may include a controller configured to interface with an electric motor to rotate the mast with respect to the base. Controller implemented methods for operating a rotary support system include receiving an input command and, responsive to the receiving the input command, sending an output command to an electric motor to rotate the mast relative to the base.
