Abstract: A body positioning mattress and a method of positioning a patient or person 0 to 90 degrees or greater in an upright supine or prone position while maintaining neutral skeletal alignment (non-flexed position) wherein a vacuum process can be applied to the body positioning mattress to remove air thereby molding the mattress around the body of the patient or person to maintain position. Further, the mattress may be placed onto a manual or motorized bed frame to position and maintain a patient or person 0 to 90 degrees or greater in the supine or prone position.

Abstract: A hybrid electric vehicle having a powertrain including an engine and an electric machine, and controllers configured to derate powertrain output torque below a nominal maximum to a fault-torque limit, in response to a vehicle fault or issue. The vehicle and controllers are also configured to transiently increase powertrain torque output above the fault-torque limit in response to a torque demand that exceeds the limit, and which is needed to enable a predicted vehicle maneuver. The controller also establishes a predicted duration for the predicted interim vehicle maneuver and for override of the fault-torque limit and delivery of the additional torque from the torque-demand signal and other signals. The predicted duration includes a time span to maneuver through roadway obstacles and traffic, but does not exceed a limited operation time or a limited power output established by the controller from the vehicle issue or fault identified by the fault signal.

Abstract: Disclosed in some examples, are methods, systems, and machine-readable mediums which provide for a focus management framework that provides for greater knowledge and control of focus transitions. An event listener is attached to a root focusable element of the DOM. The event listener may receive all focus interactions with any child element. By listening for all focus events the framework may provide more powerful events that provide both the source element and destination element as event parameters. This framework allows many different applications, such as for example, allowing the application to customize the order focus is transitioned (from the browser's default order), to allow for a history of focus events, to enable a declarative language for defining behaviors for elements of the application that need to be involved with scenarios that depend on focus transition, aggregating messages sent to assistive technologies triggered by a focus transition, and the like.

Abstract: An on-line social network system is configured to generate a news feed for a member by processing updates originating from different sources using different first pass ranker models. The first pass ranker models generate respective sets of raw scores, which are calibrated based on a consistent scale of feed engagement metrics of interest, such as a click through rate. The calibrated scores are then used as training data to train a second pass ranker and/or as input into the second pass ranker at the time when the second pass ranker is to generate respective ranks for items in an inventory of updates identified as potentially of interest to a focus member and to select a subset of items from the inventory based on the generated respective ranks.

Abstract: Message-based keyword, phrase, and/or object processing and resource allocation may perform functionality related to the message data, such as keywords, phrases, and/or objects (e.g., images, video, etc.). Based on the keywords, phrases, and/or objects, emails may be modified, project plans may be updated, calendar events may be created, and/or various notifications may be sent to allocate and notify human resources accordingly.

Abstract: Systems, compositions, and methods for synergistic additives for use in the scavenging of sulfur-containing compounds encountered in oilfield operations are provided. In one embodiment, the methods comprise injecting a sulfide scavenging additive that does not comprise a significant amount of an aldehyde into at least a portion of a subterranean formation where one or more sulfur-containing species are present; and injecting a synergistic additive comprising at least one base into at least the portion of the subterranean formation.

Abstract: A building cleaning system for cleaning a side of a building can include an elongate brush structure that is rotated by an electric motor, a frame for supporting the brush structure that can be oriented to face toward the side of the building, and a plurality of air moving devices mounted to the frame for generating counterforce to force the frame toward the building. The air moving devices can including fans or blowers. The air moving devices can be being spaced apart from one another in an orientation that extends along the length of the frame. A lift arrangement can be provided for moving the frame along the side of the building.

Abstract: The invention relates generally to polymers and copolymers comprising N-vinylamide-type monomers, their preparation, and compositions, such as electrophoresis separation media, containing the same; to supports, such as capillaries, containing these polymers; and methods for separating a mixture of biomolecules, especially polynucleotides, using capillary electrophoresis. Separation media comprising such polymers yield advantageous performance in the analysis and separation of biomolecules by capillary electrophoresis.

Abstract: A method for recycling molten salt from electrorefining processes, the method having the steps of collecting actinide metal using a first plurality of cathodes from an electrolyte bath, collecting rare earths metal using a second plurality of cathodes from the electrolyte bath, inserting the collected actinide metal and uranium into the bath, and chlorinating the inserted actinide metal and uranium. Also provided is a system for recycling molten salt, the system having a vessel adapted to receive and heat electrolyte salt, a first plurality of cathodes adapted to be removably inserted into the vessel, a second plurality of cathodes adapted to be removably inserted into the vessel, an anode positioned within the vessel so as to be coaxially aligned with the vessel, and a vehicle for inserting uranium into the salt.

Abstract: Methods and systems described herein provide for protecting user information in an overlay service. Protecting user information may include redacting personally identifiable information (PII) from information that may be exposed to third parties. Additionally, protecting user information may include opening a second account on behalf of the user using a plurality of unique identifiers in lieu of information identifying the user. This protects users' identities and privacy as their assets are transferred between various institutions.

Abstract: Using a calibration sensor to calibrate an unstable sensor from a network of unstable sensors. Approaches for using a calibration sensor to calibrate the unstable sensor initially identify an unstable sensor in a geographic region to be calibrated by a calibration sensor using a model of environmental conditions for the geographic region, and then use the model to determine how to calibrate the unstable sensor using the calibration sensor.

Abstract: A depth camera assembly (DCA) for depth sensing of a local area includes a structured light generator, an imaging device, and a controller. The structured light generator illuminates the local area with a structured light pattern. The structured light generator includes a programmable diffractive optical element (PDOE) that generates diffracted scanning beams using optical beams. The PDOE functions as a dynamic diffraction grating that dynamically adjusts diffraction of the optical beams to generate the diffracted scanning beams of different patterns. The diffracted scanning beams are projected as the structured light pattern into the local area, wherein the structured light pattern is dynamically adjustable based on the PDOE. The imaging device captures image(s) of at least a portion of the structured light pattern reflected from object(s) in the local area. The controller determines depth information for the object(s) based on the captured image(s).

Abstract: Standard I/O library functions for accessing files stored on mass storage devices are modified to enable access to files stored in firmware volumes. An application can be compiled against the modified standard I/O library functions to generate a pre-boot application. When the pre-boot application is executed within a pre-boot execution environment, it can utilize standard I/O library functions to access files stored in a firmware volume. In response to receiving a request to open a file from a pre-boot application, the called I/O function searches a file cross-reference table to locate the filename for the file. If the filename is in the file cross-reference table, the GUID associated with the filename is retrieved from the file cross-reference table and used to obtain a file handle to the file. The file handle can then be returned to the pre-boot application and used to perform other types of operations on the file.

Abstract: A rotor assembly for an electric machine includes a core having at least one post and a cap wherein electrical windings are wound about the rotor assembly to define a pole. The rotation of the rotor and rotor pole relative to a stator generates a current supplied from the electric machine to a power consuming device.

Abstract: Techniques for physical machine management in distributed computing systems are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method includes accessing data representing an operating status indicating whether individual physical machines are operating satisfactorily in accordance with one or more target operating conditions. The method can then include based on the accessed data, identifying a list of the physical machines that are not operating satisfactorily in accordance with at least one of the target operating conditions but have not failed yet and determining whether the individually physical machines in the list are hosting one or more virtual machines. If one of the physical machines in the list is not hosting one or more virtual machines, overwriting at least one of an operating system, a user application, or a device driver on the one of the physical machines with a new copy.

Abstract: A massager providing massaging frequencies in the range of 75 to 250 hertz, and preferably 100 to 200 Hertz is provided. The massager includes a motor for generating rotational motion, an applicator head having multiple treatment surfaces, and a shaft attached to the motor and applicator head for translating the rotational motion to the applicator head. The massager also includes a restraining mechanism attached to the applicator head. The restraining mechanism is configured to prevent the applicator head from rotating, thereby generating a circular motion in each of the treatment surface. The circular motion has diameters in a range of 0.1 mm to 5 mm and a preferred frequency of 100-200 completed circular movements per second.

Abstract: A latch mechanism for releasably securing a hinged gate to one or more latches. The latch mechanism includes a handle that is pivotally connected to a gate wall. The handle includes at least one retention arm that lockingly engages a latch when the hinged gate is in a latched position. According to certain embodiments, the handle includes a retention arm at both ends of the handle, with the handle extending generally along the length of the gate wall. Further, the handle may be pivotally displaced about the retention arm(s) so that the handle is displaced from the first position to a second position. As the handle is pivotally displaced to the second position, a release mechanism of the handle may engage and pivotally displace the adjacent latch so that the retention arm may be released from the locking engagement with the latch.

Abstract: An interactive display for a kiosk for mounting on an existing retail structure in order to display one or more objects comprises an LED module frame having an edge having a coating and a grid, the grid including a plurality of mountings adapted to support LED modules, and one or more LED modules comprising an array of LEDs, the modules being removably supported on the mountings, and one or more removable filler panels adapted to occupy any of the plurality of mountings that do support an LED module, wherein the one or more filler panels are coated in a similar manner to the edge of the frame. Also, an assembly for inclusion in a kiosk comprises a frame, LED modules and filler panels supported on a continuous plane, and a translucent panel supported in front of the continuous plane.

Abstract: An examination device for use with a mobile device comprises a housing removably coupled to the mobile device. The housing may be coupled to the mobile device by a rear surface, opposing side surfaces, a top surface, and a retention lip that extends over the front of the mobile device. A retention structure may be mechanically coupled to the housing and may also define a rectangular slot. A tongue depressor may be retained by the retention structure and may also extend away from the rectangular slot. A cutaway may be defined by a wall of the housing. The cutaway may be positioned on the housing to expose a camera of the mobile device facing towards the end of the tongue depressor. The examination device is configured to manipulate an oral feature of a mouth while the camera of the mobile device captures an image of the mouth.

Abstract: A system includes a climate control module and a thermal device control module. The climate control module, based on at least one of a user input and a first input from a temperature sensor that measures a temperature of a seat of a vehicle, generates one of (i) a heating command signal indicating an instruction to heat the seat and (ii) a cooling command signal indicating an instruction to cool the seat. The thermal device control module, in response to one of the heating command signal and the cooling command signal, controls at least one of a blower and at least one TED to one of heat and cool the seat based on a second input from at least one sensor that measures at least one of a pressure applied to the seat, a force applied to the seat, and a strain within the seat.
