Abstract: Method and apparatus for sharpening a cutting edge of a cutting tool, such as a kitchen knife. In some embodiments, an abrasive assembly has a frame, a handle, and a cartridge that supports a plurality of abrasive members each having an associated abrasive surface. A rod affixes the abrasive assembly to a base assembly to facilitate movement of the abrasive assembly along the cutting edge of the tool responsive to engagement, by a user, of the user handle. Each abrasive member is configured to be moved, by the user, with respect to the handle to present each abrasive surface in turn. In some cases, the cartridge is rotatable about a cartridge axis that may be parallel or non-parallel to a central axis of the rod.

Abstract: Systems and computer-implemented methods for a bet exchange. The bet exchange receives bet orders from users and matches bet-for orders with bet-against orders to generate instances of standardized bet contracts. The bet-for orders are bets on a bet event occurring, and bet-against orders are bets on a bet event not occurring. The bet events have a standardized payout amount, which is used to determine a value to transfer to the trader that made the bet-for order when the bet event occurs, or to the trader that made the bet-against order when the bet event does not occur.

Abstract: A Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter that reduces the complexity of the hardware required for a filter with a high decimation factor while achieving similar performance of prior art poly-phase filters of greater complexity. The FIR filter includes a small number of multiply-and-accumulate (MAC) units connected in parallel to each other between an input stream and an output stream. The MAC units are provided with coefficients from a memory. In an example implementation, the memory is addressed by a counter and the output of the memory selected by a multiplexer for suppling the coefficients.

Abstract: Techniques are described for orchestrating a cohort deployment in a computing network comprising a plurality of computing nodes implementing a virtualized computing network managed by an orchestrator. The cohort deployment is managed by a deployment broker configured to coordinate the cohort deployment. The cohort deployment includes multiple deployments, where the cohort deployment comprises a parent deployment and a spawned deployment that includes a dependency on the parent deployment.

Abstract: Systems and methods create new viewership estimates to drive linear ad schedule optimizations. The systems use machine learning techniques to predict granular-level television viewership metrics for any consumer segment measurable at a national level. The systems provide capabilities beyond merely estimating and forecasting television viewership for age- and gender-based demographic segments. The systems accurately estimate viewership for any consumer segment, including behavioral, demographic, and other segmentation techniques and provide reliable viewership predictions. The systems model viewership by training an ensemble of machine learning models using historical consumer segments data and TV viewership data.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and media for synchronizing video streams are provided. In some embodiments, the method comprises: identifying a target video stream and a reference video stream, wherein the target video stream and the reference video stream are two different broadcasts of a program; generating, for the target video stream, a sequence of fingerprints; determining a time shift at which the sequence of fingerprints appears within the reference video stream; determining whether the target video stream is synchronized with the reference video stream by determining whether the time shift exceeds a predetermined threshold; and, in response to determining that the target video stream is not synchronized with the reference video stream, causing an electronic programming guide that includes an indication of the target video stream to be modified based on the time shift.

Abstract: A shield system for an unmanned arial vehicle (AUV) is provided. The shield system includes inner shield members rigidly mounted to at least the rotor arms of the AUV and outer shield members shock mounted to the inner shield members. The shield system defines opening for sensors, payload or mechanical portions of the UAV.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for using feature descriptors to track objects depicted in images. One of the methods includes receiving hue, saturation, value data for an image and data that indicates an object detected in the image, generating a feature descriptor that includes hue data and saturation data, determining, for each of two or more tracked objects that each have a historical feature descriptor that includes historical hue data and historical saturation data, a distance between (i) the respective historical feature descriptor and (ii) the feature descriptor, associating the feature descriptor for the object with a tracked object from the two or more tracked objects, and tracking the tracked object in one or more images from a video sequence using the feature descriptor and the historical feature descriptor.

The coil heater is located in the inner tube. The coil heater is formed of an iron-free, nickel-chromium alloy and has substantially uniformly spaced windings. The wick is surrounded by the coil heater such that the wick delivers liquid material to the coil heater and the coil heater heats the liquid material to a temperature sufficient to vaporize the liquid material and form an aerosol in the inner tube.

Abstract: In a general aspect, calibration is performed in a quantum computing system. In some cases, domains of a quantum computing system are identified, where the domains include respective domain control subsystems and respective subsets of quantum circuit devices in a quantum processor of the quantum computing system. Sets of measurements are obtained from one of the domains and stored in memory. Device characteristics of the quantum circuit devices of the domain are obtained based on the set of measurements, and the device characteristics are stored in a memory of the control system. Quantum logic control parameters for the subset of quantum circuit devices of the domain are obtained based on the set of measurements and stored in memory.

The pump may be attached to the wheel rim outside of the pneumatic tire and configured to rotate with the wheel rim. The pump may be coupled to the internal heat exchanger through an opening in the wheel rim. The wheel assembly may further include a coolant disposed in the internal heat exchanger and configured to absorb heat from the pneumatic tire. The wheel assembly may also include an external heat exchanger configured to remove heat from the coolant.

Abstract: A method of acclimatizing dates includes placing a plurality of dates into a vacuum chamber, heating the dates to a first temperature, and increasing a vacuum pressure of the vacuum chamber with the dates in the vacuum chamber. The first temperature is below a boiling point of water at an initial pressure within the vacuum chamber and the increase in vacuum pressure modifies the boiling point to below the first temperature. The method includes adjusting a relative humidity of the vacuum chamber towards a target relative humidity until the plurality of dates reach an equilibrium relative humidity, the target relative humidity corresponding to a target moisture content of the dates on an isotherm of the dates at the first temperature. The method includes cooling the dates to a second temperature to stop transpiration of water within the plurality of dates and decreasing the vacuum pressure of the vacuum chamber.

Abstract: A scan aggregator and filter for an autonomous vehicle includes a plurality of radar sensors, where each radar sensor performs a plurality of individual scans of a surrounding environment to obtain data in the form of a radar point cloud including a plurality of detection points. The scan aggregator and filter also includes an automated driving controller in electronic communication with the plurality of radar sensors. The automated driving controller is instructed to filter each of the individual scans to define a spatial region of interest and to remove the detection points of the radar point cloud that represent moving objects based on a first outlier-robust model estimation algorithm. The automated driving controller aggregates a predefined number of individual scans together based on a motion compensated aggregation technique to create an aggregated data scan and applies a plurality of density-based clustering algorithms to filter the aggregated data scan.

Abstract: A trenchless collector system is configured to intercept and direct surface and/or subsurface fluids to a designated reception location to control groundwater elevations. A target collection and drainage area is identified and a gravity drainage pipe is accessed or trenchlessly installed at the target collection and drainage area. The gravity drainage pipe can be accessed at one or more drawdown points. One end of a collection pipe can be connected to the gravity drainage pipe. Surface and subsurface water is hydrostatically drawn into the collection pipe from the target collection and drainage area through venting at the one end of the collection pipe connected to the gravity drainage pipe. The surface and subsurface water can be passively drained from the collection pipe into the gravity drainage pipe and onto the designated reception location.
