  • Patent number: 11943532
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques that provide a “best” picture taken within a few seconds of the moment when a capture command is received (e.g., when the “shutter” button is pressed). In some situations, several still images are automatically (that is, without the user's input) captured. These images are compared to find a “best” image that is presented to the photographer for consideration. Video is also captured automatically and analyzed to see if there is an action scene or other motion content around the time of the capture command. If the analysis reveals anything interesting, then the video clip is presented to the photographer. The video clip may be cropped to match the still-capture scene and to remove transitory parts. Higher-precision horizon detection may be provided based on motion analysis and on pixel-data analysis.

  • Patent number: 11938649
Abstract: In various embodiments, a scanner optimizer system may generate a virtual model of a predicted flitch based on a 3D model of a log/cant and a cut solution for the log/cant. The scanner optimizer system may compare a virtual model of an actual flitch to virtual models of predicted flitches by comparing data points at a fixed elevation relative to one or both faces of the models. Based on the comparisons, the scanner optimizer system may identify the source log from which the actual flitch was cut. In addition, the scanner optimizer system may identify the saw used to cut the actual flitch, and/or other relevant information, and use the additional information to monitor and adjust the saws and other equipment. Embodiments of corresponding apparatuses and methods are also described.

  • Patent number: 11941912
Abstract: Technologies for grouping images, and ranking the images and the groupings, based on entities shown in the images. Images may be grouped based on faces shown in the images. Different images with faces that indicate the same entity (e.g., Adam) may be automatically grouped together. Different images with faces that indicate the same multiple entities (e.g., the people in my family) may also be automatically grouped together. Such automatic grouping may be based on facial recognition technologies. Further, images and groups of images may be automatically ranked based on the faces shown and entities represented. Such rankings may also be influenced by adjacent data that indicates family and friends and the like, and that can be used to identify such entities in the images.

  • Patent number: 11943171
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for dynamically assigning physical resource blocks (PRBs) based on available bandwidth. At least a first amount of bandwidth that is carrier controlled is determined. A standardized bandwidth that is greater than the first amount of bandwidth is determined. A bandwidth differential is determined as the difference between he standardized bandwidth and the first amount of bandwidth. Then, PRBs are assigned corresponding to the first amount of bandwidth while zero PRBs are assigned to the bandwidth differential.

  • Patent number: 11938748
Abstract: A security device includes an image projection system that includes an array of focusing elements (101) and an array of image icon elements (103) disposed relative to each other such that a synthetic image is projected by the image projection system. This synthetic image, along with at least one other image functions as a targeting image. As targeting images (310?, 310?), these images are spatially coordinated such that a reward image (350), which is otherwise at least partially hidden, becomes revealed upon the targeting images having a predetermined transformation. This targeting effect functions as a game that attracts the attention of an end-user of high-valued articles of manufacture to which the security device is attached. The security device allows a viewer to actively interact with the security device by trying to turn on the reward image.

  • Patent number: 11941751
Abstract: Techniques for aligning images generated by two cameras are disclosed. This alignment is performed by computing a relative 3D orientation between the two cameras. A first gravity vector for a first camera and a second gravity vector for a second camera are determined. A first camera image is obtained from the first camera, and a second camera image is obtained from the second camera. A first alignment process is performed to partially align the first camera's orientation with the second camera's orientation. This process is performed by aligning the gravity vectors, thereby resulting in two degrees of freedom of the relative 3D orientation being eliminated. Visual correspondences between the two images are identified. A second alignment process is performed to fully align the orientations. This process is performed by using the identified visual correspondences to identify and eliminate a third degree of freedom of the relative 3D orientation.
