    Abstract: A method for remotely bonding a companion device to an implanted medical device to achieve long-term encrypted and authenticated communication channel, that is resilient to companion device failure or compromise and hence mitigates the risk or need for unplanned, revision surgery and/or premature device explantation. Through use of a shared cryptographic key between the two systems, the companion device may request an encrypted challenge number from the implant. Completing the challenge via transmitting an encrypted validation number permits the implanted medical device to bond and perform a new long-term key exchange. The shared cryptographic key can be changed as well, in event of compromise or other adverse event, using a described device firmware update procedure.

    Abstract: Data compression techniques are described for saving memory space by using fewer bits to store information while achieving high fidelity. A data set may be partitioned into a plurality of regions. Locally varying numerical ranges of data values (e.g., the minimum and maximum extents) may be determined for the plurality of regions. The data in the individual regions may be encoded using a lower number of bits as interpolation values in reference to the local extents rather than being encoded using a higher number of bits as absolute values. Where there are multiple channels of data in the regions, the number of available bits for encoding the data may be dynamically allocated per region based on the relative degrees of variance in data among the multiple channels.

The pedal arm is at least partially received in the cavity and has a pedal pad on one end. The elongated member extends and couples to the pedal arm on one end and couples to a carrier on an opposite other end. The end plate is spaced apart from the carrier. The compressible member is positioned in the space between the carrier and the end plate. When the pedal pad is depressed, the elongated member moves the carrier in a direction towards the end plate which drives the carrier into the compressible member such that the compressible material compresses to generate a force feedback onto a foot positioned on the pedal pad.

    Abstract: A machine learning predictor model is trained to generate a prediction of the appearance of a tissue sample stained with a special stain such as an IHC stain from an input image that is either unstained or stained with H&E. Training data takes the form of thousands of pairs of precisely aligned images, one of which is an image of a tissue specimen stained with H&E or unstained, and the other of which is an image of the tissue specimen stained with the special stain. The model can be trained to predict special stain images for a multitude of different tissue types and special stain types, in use, an input image, e.g., an H&E image of a given tissue specimen at a particular magnification level is provided to the model and the model generates a prediction of the appearance of the tissue specimen as if it were stained with the special stain. The predicted image is provided to a user and displayed, e.g., on a pathology workstation.
