Abstract: A trash can with a separable base and sidewall. The base and the sidewall have cooperating engaging structures, such as slots in the sidewall and tabs on an inner face of a perimeter wall of the base. The base has a projecting ledge on an outer face of the perimeter wall. The sidewall and base are separated from one another by depressing the projecting ledge, thereby causing the base to resiliently deform and move at least one of the cooperating engaging structures of the base out of engagement with its counterpart on or in the sidewall.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a promoter induced by fungal rust. More specifically, the promoter is induced by the pathogen Phakopsora pachyrhizi, i.e. the Asian Soybean Rust. The disclosure further provides for recombinant genes comprising the promoter and methods of producing a transgenic plant that involves introducing or providing the recombinant gene to plant cells to create transgenic plant cells, and regenerating transgenic plants from the transgenic cells.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to providing an artificial reality environment with augments and surfaces. An “augment” is a virtual container in 3D space that can include presentation data, context, and logic. An artificial reality system can use augments as the fundamental building block for displaying 2D and 3D models in the artificial reality environment. For example, augments can represent people, places, and things in an artificial reality environment and can respond to a context such as a current display mode, time of day, a type of surface the augment is on, a relationship to other augments, etc. Augments can be on a “surface” that has a layout and properties that cause augments on that surface to display in different ways. Augments and other objects (real or virtual) can also interact, where these interactions can be controlled by rules for the objects evaluated based on information from the shell.

Abstract: A system that determines a nominal path based on interpolated lane edge data can include a processor and a memory. The memory includes instructions such that the processor is configured to receive a sensor data representing a perceived lane edge; receive map data including a lane edge; interpolate the sensor data and interpolate the map data; fuse the interpolated sensor data and the interpolated map data; and generate predicted lane edge lane edge centers based on the fused interpolated sensor data.

Abstract: A body structure for a vehicle includes a roof side rail assembly, a vehicle pillar, a pillar reinforcement bracket and an intermediate reinforcement bracket. The roof side rail assembly includes an attachment plate and a rail secured to the attachment plate and configured to extend along a length of the vehicle. The vehicle pillar extends downward from the attachment plate. The pillar reinforcement bracket is secured to the rail and at least partially disposed within the vehicle pillar. The pillar reinforcement bracket includes a lower portion. The intermediate reinforcement bracket is disposed within and secured to the vehicle pillar. The intermediate reinforcement bracket also includes a connecting wall that is secured to the lower portion of the pillar reinforcement bracket. The connecting wall extends parallel to a surface of the attachment plate where the rail is secured to the attachment plate.

Abstract: A controller for a harvester. The controller is configured to receive crop flow information representative of how crop is flowing through the harvester and generate display information for providing a visual display to an operator of the harvester. The visual display includes an animation of crop flowing through the harvester. The controller is further configured to set one or more properties of the animation of the crop flowing through the harvester based on the received crop flow information.

Abstract: A system and method for repairing a coke oven having an oven chamber formed from ceramic bricks. A representative system includes a insulated enclosure insertable into the oven chamber and includes removable insulated panels that define an interior area for workers to work in. The insulated enclosure is movable between an expanded configuration and a compact configuration and moving the enclosure to the expanded configuration will decrease the distance between the insulated enclosure and the walls of the oven chamber. Removing the panels exposes the ceramic bricks and allows workers within the interior area to access and the bricks and repair the oven chamber while the oven chamber is still hot. A loading apparatus lifts and inserts the insulated enclosure into the oven chamber. The insulated enclosure can be coupled to additional insulated enclosures to form an elongated interior area.

Abstract: Implementations described herein relate to methods, systems, and computer-readable media for remote production collaboration tools. The remote production collaboration tools can include one or more client devices, a server providing a single connection point, and an animation server configured to produce an animated production. The one or more client devices may provide motion capture data, audio data, control data, and/or associated timestamps. The animation server is configured to process the motion capture data, audio data, control data, and/or the associated timestamps and create the animated production. The animated production may be transmitted as a video stream.

Abstract: Some variations provide an atom vapor-density control system, the system comprising: a first electrode; a second electrode that is electrically isolated from the first electrode; an ion-conducting layer interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode, wherein the ion-conducting layer is in ionic communication with the second electrode; at least one atom reservoir in contact with the second electrode or with an additional electrode, wherein the atom reservoir is electrochemically configured to controllably supply or receive atoms; a heater in thermal communication with a heated region comprising the first electrode; and one or more thermal isolation structures configured to minimize heat loss out of the heated region into a cold region. Several exemplary system configurations are presented in the drawings. The disclosed atom vapor-density control systems are capable of controlling the vapor pressure of metal atoms (such as alkali atoms) at low electrical power input.

The system-on-chip comprises a central processing unit (CPU) and a non-transitory memory comprising a micro-kernel of a fifth generation (5G) core network that when executed by the CPU, causes the micro-kernel to begin executing instructions of the micro-kernel in a trusted security zone (TSZ) execution mode, create virtualized network functions (VNFs) of a core network in the TSZ execution mode, wherein the virtualized network functions are associated with a 5G core network, instantiate a 5G communication network using the antenna and the 5G core network in response to creating the VNFs of the core network, receive requests from subscribers of the 5G communication network, and connect the subscribers to the 5G communication network in response to receiving the requests from subscribers of the 5G communication network.

Abstract: Methods and systems for managing data in a distributed system are disclosed. The distributed system may include devices used by users (e.g., clients) and devices in which data is stored for future accessibility (e.g., storage providers). A data storage system may manage the data for the clients. To manage the data efficiently, the data storage system may perform an integrated process of both verifying that segments of files believed to be stored are actually stored and segments of files that no longer need to be stored are removed. The process may not be performed in real-time as files that no longer need to be stored are identified (e.g., as deletion requests are received). Rather, the integrated process may employ a garbage collection process where deletion conditions for segments are checked intermittently over time, and files are verified.

Abstract: Video relay services, communication systems, non-transitory machine-readable storage media, and methods are disclosed herein. A video relay service may include at least one server configured to receive a video stream including sign language content from a video communication device during a real-time communication session. The server may also be configured to automatically translate the sign language content into a verbal language translation during the real-time communication session without assistance of a human sign language interpreter. Further, the server may be configured to transmit the verbal language translation during the real-time communication session.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to multi-stage falling particle receivers and methods of falling particle heating. As the particles fall through the receiver, the particles are periodically collected and released by flow retarding devices. The periodic catch-and-release of the particles falling through the receiver reduces particle flow dispersion, increases particle opacity and solar absorption, and reduces erosion and damage to surfaces caused by direct particle impingement.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer readable storage medium directed to implementing a room scale virtual reality system which enables players to walk through a large virtual playing area in a physically limited size room. Physical tracking of a virtual reality headset is used so that the position and orientation of the virtual reality headset is identified to translate the physical player's motion into the virtual world which is displayed on the virtual reality headset. Relocation objects are placed in the virtual world so they correspond to physical location against physical walls. Relocation objects in the virtual world rotate and/or relocate the player in the virtual world which would typically cause the player in the physical world to turn around and thus walk away from the physical wall. Placement of relocation objects throughout the virtual world enable a large virtual world to be implemented using a small finite sized physical room.

Abstract: A data structure representing the state of courier assignments is described. For each courier assignment, the data structure contains: information identifying a destination location for the courier assignment; information identifying a drop-off protocol specified for the courier assignment, the drop-off protocol specifying a sequence of steps; and, for each of at least some of the steps of the identified drop-off protocol, a representation of compliance evidence collected with respect to the step of the courier assignment. The contents of the data structure are usable to present collected compliance evidence for steps of the drop-off protocol specified for courier assignments among the plurality of courier assignments, either contemporaneously or at later times.

Abstract: A method and a system for adjusting a base idle speed of an engine are described. In one example, the method reduces engine speed according to output of a sensor that senses mechanical vibrations. Once a vibration level exceeds a threshold, engine speed reduction ceases and the base engine idle speed is adjusted according to a present engine speed.
