Abstract: A hood latch release system includes, among other things, a release member within a compartment covered by a hood, a hood latch assembly, and a release assembly having an electrically powered actuator and a mechanical actuator. The electrically powered actuator and the mechanical actuator are each configured to move one or more latches of the hood latch assembly from the latched position to the unlatched position. The system further includes a selector assembly. When a coupling member of the selector assembly is in a decoupling position, actuating the release member causes the electrically powered actuator to unlatch the primary latch, the secondary latch, or both. When the coupling member of the selector assembly is in a coupling position, actuating the release member causes the mechanical actuator to unlatch the primary latch, the secondary latch, or both.

Abstract: A system and method for the analysis of log data is presented. The system uses SuperMinHash based locality sensitive hash signatures to describe the similarity between log lines. Signatures are created for incoming log lines and stored in signature indexes. Later similarity queries use those indexes to improve the query performance. The SuperMinHash algorithm uses a two staged approach to determine signature values, one stage uses a first random number to calculate the index of the signature value that is to update. The two staged approach improves the accuracy of the produced similarity estimation data for small sized signatures. The two staged approach may further be used to produce random numbers that are related, e.g. each created random number may be larger than its predecessors. This relation is used to optimize the algorithm by determining and terminating when further created random numbers have no influence on the created signature.

Abstract: The technology relates to enhancing the operation of autonomous vehicles. Extendible sensors are deployed based on detected or predicted conditions around a vehicle while operating in a self-driving mode. When not needed, the sensors are fully retracted into the vehicle to reduce drag and increase fuel economy. When the onboard system determines that there is a need for a deployable sensor, such as to enhance the field of view of the perception system, the sensor is extended in a predetermined manner. The deployment may depend on one or more operating conditions and/or particular driving scenarios. These and other sensors of the vehicle may be protected with a rugged housing, for instance to protect against damage from the elements. And in other situations, deployable foils may extend from the vehicle's chassis to increase drag and enhance braking. This may be helpful for large trucks in steep descent situations.
Abstract: This invention relates to portable heating systems that utilize a portable fuel source. Portable heating systems of the invention generally include a regulator that is configured to vaporize fuel released from a cartridge and to transfer the vaporized fuel to a burner for ignition.

Abstract: Implementations are described herein for training and applying machine learning models to digital images capturing plants, and to other data indicative of attributes of individual plants captured in the digital images, to recognize individual plants in distinction from other individual plants. In various implementations, a digital image that captures a first plant of a plurality of plants may be applied, along with additional data indicative of an additional attribute of the first plant observed when the digital image was taken, as input across a machine learning model to generate output. Based on the output, an association may be stored in memory, e.g., of a database, between the digital image that captures the first plant and one or more previously-captured digital images of the first plant.
