Abstract: A method for making a low cost, lightweight carbon aggregate from coal at, above, or below atmospheric pressure, and a lightweight concrete composition utilizing the lightweight carbon aggregate is described.

Abstract: A device may receive a request for a product. Based on the request, the device may determine a geographic location and delivery time for delivery of the product, and the device may identify product locations that are capable of providing the product and located near the geographic location. The device may determine, for each of the product locations and based on the product and at least one product location characteristic, a fulfillment time indicating when the product will be prepared for delivery. In addition, the device may identify at least one potential courier capable of transporting the product. Based on the fulfillment time, the delivery time, the geographic location for delivery, and at least one courier characteristic associated with the potential courier, the device may select a particular product location and a particular courier and perform an action based on the particular product location or the particular courier.

Abstract: Some implementations of the disclosure are directed to a satellite and cellular terminal, comprising: an indoor unit; and an outdoor unit comprising a satellite antenna and an outdoor Radio configured to communicatively couple to the indoor unit, the outdoor Radio comprising: an outdoor cellular antenna configured to communicate over a cellular communications network by transmitting signals generated using at least a cellular modem; and a feed horn configured to communicatively couple to the satellite antenna, wherein the satellite antenna is configured to communicate over a satellite communications network by transmitting signals over an inroute and receiving signals over an outroute.

Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting transmission of covert payloads of data are provided. A datagram is received at a host within a network. A determination is made that processing the datagram creates an error condition. A determination is made that that the datagram contains a payload intended for covert transmission where at least one suspicious condition is present. The suspicious conditions include an encrypted payload, a destination not matching any known address for hosts within the network, a time to live value matching the number of gateways traversed by the datagram within the network, and a particular type of error condition.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for managing data in a cloud computing environment. In accordance with some embodiments, data updates are received to a multi-tier memory structure across a cloud network and stored as working data in an upper rewritable non-volatile memory tier of the memory structure. The working data are periodically logged to a lower non-volatile memory tier in the memory structure while a current version of the working data remain in the upper memory tier. The upper and lower memory tiers each are formed of rewritable memory cells having different constructions and storage attributes.

Abstract: A pluggable optical module may include a substrate. The pluggable optical module may include a compressible sliding thermal interface disposed on the substrate to contact a riding heatsink. The compressible sliding thermal interface material may be compressed to fill interstices between a first surface of the substrate and a second surface of the riding heatsink. The compressible sliding thermal interface may protrude from the first surface of the substrate such that insertion of the pluggable optical module into a cage compresses the compressible sliding thermal interface to achieve a threshold thermal boundary resistance.

Abstract: A multi-module battery pack includes a battery tray defining multiple battery tray compartments, battery modules each disposed within a corresponding one of the compartments, and a thermal barrier arranged in a predefined heat transfer path through the tray between an adjacent pair of the battery modules. The thermal barrier has a thickness of at least about 1 mm and a thermal conductivity of less than about 4 W/m-K, such that the thermal barrier blocks the heat transfer path to mitigate a thermal runaway event of one of the adjacent pair of battery modules. An electric powertrain system includes a rotary electric machine having phase leads and an output member, a driven load coupled to the output member, and the multi-module battery pack. A method includes providing the tray, identifying the heat transfer path, and arranging the thermal barrier in the heat transfer path.

Abstract: An adhesive-reinforced rotor for a rotary electric machine includes rotor lamination layers (“rotor lams”) having axial inner surfaces collectively defining rotor openings through the rotor lams. The rotor also includes reinforcement blocks disposed within a respective one of the rotor openings. A polymer primer/adhesive layer of the rotor having a bond line thickness of less than 1 mm is disposed between the one or more reinforcement blocks and the axial inner surfaces of the rotor lams. The reinforcement blocks and the primer/adhesive layer each have a tensile strength of at least 50 MPa. A modulus of elasticity of the reinforcement blocks is at least three times greater than that of the materials of the polymer primer/adhesive layer. A method of constructing an adhesive-reinforced rotor is also described herein.

Abstract: A profile provider: (i) associates a primary online device (OD1) with a set-top box (STB); (ii) a location of OD1 at some point in time is estimated to be “near” the STB, thereby establishing a STB proxy location; (iii) one or more secondary online devices (OD2s) are observed to be located “near” the STB proxy location and are associated with the STB; and (iv) a television advertisement is selected to be directed to the STB, which selection is based at least in part on profile information linked to one of the associated OD2s. The method can be particularly advantageous in situations wherein: the STB is not connected to any computer network; the STB is not ever connected to the same local area network as OD1 or OD2; or television service (used by the STB) and online access (used by OD1 and OD2s) are provided by different service providers.

Abstract: A multilayer identification patch comprises a reflective layer and a design layer on top of the reflective layer. The design layer comprises an opaque body and at least one identification symbol void (ISV) to allow light to reflect from a portion of the reflective layer via the ISV. The opaque body of the design layer comprises multiple layers of cured photopolymer ink. The multiple layers of cured photopolymer ink comprise an opaque layer of colored photopolymer ink. In one embodiment, the multiple layers of cured photopolymer ink in the opaque body of the design layer further comprise a layer of clear photopolymer ink under the opaque layer of colored photopolymer ink. Abstract: The disclosed embodiments include systems and methods for executing a point of sale deposit. In one embodiment, a system may include one or more memory devices storing software instructions, and one or more processors configured to execute the software instructions to receive transaction information related to a point of sale deposit from a client device, and generate a pending deposit transaction based on the transaction information. The one or more processors may be further configured to execute the software instructions to receive a first transaction token from the client device, receive a second transaction token from a third-party device, match the first transaction token to the second transaction token, and complete the pending deposit transaction based on the match.

Abstract: Systems and methods for autonomous banking resources are disclosed. Embodiments include a mobile banking resource including an unmanned motorized vehicle, a controller configured to control the movement of the motorized vehicle, an authentication device configured to verify the identity of a user, a server configured to communicate with the controller and the authentication device, and a user interface module configured to interface with the user conducting a transaction. The user interface module may include a user input device configured to receive user input, and a communication interface module configured to communicate with a server and the user input device. The controller may be configured to operate the motorized vehicle to move the motorized vehicle to a location based on a predicted behavior of the user.

Abstract: In a method for securing a web browser, display instructions for displaying web content are received from a content server by a web browser operating on a client computing device. The web browser creates a document object using the display instructions and determines from the document object whether one or more of the display instructions meet font profiling criteria selected to identify attempts to profile font display characteristics of the web browser. Responsive to a determination that font profiling criteria are met, the web browser alters a character display of the document object and implements the document object for displaying the web content on the client computing device.

Abstract: An adhesive article that remains securely bonded to a substrate until a stimuli is applied. The article may be embodied as an adhesive tape, a bandage, or as other articles. The stimuli may be a change in temperature or application of a reduction that causes a structure within the article to break, creak, or otherwise disrupt to expose the adhesive to a solvent, such as via a difference in Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE) or by exposing the article to a glass transition temperature.

Abstract: A clipboard apparatus for holding lottery tickets and collecting shavings from the lottery tickets. The clipboard apparatus has a base having a flat top surface and a bottom surface, the base has a proximal end and a distal end. A clip is coupled to the top surface of proximal end of the base, wherein the clip can secure one or more lottery tickets held on the base. A receptacle is at the top surface of distal end of the base, the receptacle has an open top, the open top of the receptacle faces towards the clip, wherein the receptacle can receive and hold the shavings scratched from the lottery ticket.

Abstract: A system for a connector for charging an electric aircraft, wherein the system comprises a charging port located on an electric aircraft, wherein the charging port is configured to mate with a charger connector, receive at least an electrical current from current conductor, and detect a detection datum using at least a sensor. The system also includes a controller communicatively connected to the charging port, wherein the controller is configured to receive the detection datum from the at least a sensor and stop flow of the electrical current as a function of the detection datum.

Abstract: A manually articulated stylet assembly for placing an endotracheal tube. The stylet assembly has a steering shaft that carries a flexible distal tip at one end and is attached to a handle at the other end. The distal tip is manipulated via sheathed cables controlled by a remote actuator in the handle. A biasing member inside the remote actuator maintains continuous tension on the cables to improve control. A video camera is carried in a recessed lens pocket in the steering shaft but spaced from the distal tip. The camera FOV captures movement of the distal tip with foreshortened perspective. A collar seat in the handle receives the collar connector of a standard endotracheal tube, providing quick disconnect when removing the stylet assembly upon placement.

Abstract: Example aspects of a thermal monitoring system are disclosed. The thermal monitoring system can comprise a cryogenic storage container comprising an external wall and an internal wall, wherein a cold cryogenic liquid is housed within the internal wall, and wherein a vacuum is formed between the external wall and the internal wall; a thermal imaging camera configured to measure temperatures within a region of interest, wherein the cryogenic storage container is oriented within the region of interest and the thermal imaging camera measures an external temperature of the outer wall of the cryogenic storage container, the thermal imaging camera further comprising camera software configured to generate a thermographic video of the external temperature; a display device displaying the thermographic video; and an alarm unit configured to activate an alert when the external temperature of the cryogenic storage container drops below a pre-selected trigger temperature.

Abstract: A computing device running a tool for visually exploring datasets receives a request for a dataset comprising a plurality of subspaces of a multi-dimensional data structure and in response to receiving a user selection of a data point associated with the dataset, presents a visualization of the calculations associated with the selected data point. The tool allows the user to select one of the calculations, thus causing presentation of a visualization of the selected calculation. A semantic graphical feature is incorporated into the visualization of the selected calculation depending upon a type of the calculation.

Abstract: A three-dimensional, biocompatible scaffold precursor composition for room-temperature printing a bio-compatible polymer/hydroxyapatite composite scaffold includes a room-temperature slurry, comprising a mixture of a sold phase that includes a mixture of tetracalcium phosphate (TTCP; Ca4(PO4)2O) and dicalcium phosphate anhydrous (DCPA; CaHPO4), and a liquid phase that includes a polymer in a solvent. The solvent may be Ethanol (EtOH) or Tetrahydrofuran (THF), and the polymer may be polyvinyl butyral (PVB), polycaprolactone (PCL), or poly lactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA). The slurry is printed at room temperature in aqueous phosphate (NaH2PO4) bath, which works as hardening accelerator, forming the polymer/hydroxyapatite composite scaffold.
