Abstract: A method of making multilayer foam sheet from recycled polyester sources, which may be used for packaging applications. The method comprises a co-extrusion system comprising at least two single screw extruders. A low I.V. polyester feedstock comprising up to 100% of the polyester flakes from recycled sources with an intrinsic viscosity (I.V.) of lower than 0.8 dL/g as measured by ASTM D4603-18 is directly being fed into the extruders. Supercritical physical blowing agent is introduced into the melted polyester feedstock in at least one of the extruders wherein the processing temperature is in the range of 15% lower than the melting temperature and 15% higher than the melting temperature. Then, coextruding the feedstock from the extruders of the co-extrusion system through a flat sheet die to make a multilayer foam sheet, wherein at least one layer is a foam layer comprising low I.V. polyester.

Abstract: A rotary tank assembly is provided for a liner. The liner is structured to apply a compound to a plurality of container closures. The rotary tank assembly includes a compound tank, a fill tube structured to fill the tank with a volume of said compound to a desired level, a sensor assembly adapted to measure the level of said compound within the compound tank, and a rotary union assembly structured to pivotally couple the fill tube and the sensor assembly to the compound tank. The sensor assembly only requires one single probe.

Abstract: A microfabricated electrochemical gas sensor is disclosed. The sensor includes electrodes produced from conductor layers, a capping layer, microcavities through the conductor layers and the capping layer, a cavity connecting the microcavities, and an electrolyte filling in the space created by the cavity and the microcavities in the substrate. The microcavities allow gases to pass through but retain the electrolyte through surface tension.

Abstract: A master profile may be created defining a plurality of values for a plurality of storage system parameters. The master profile may be stored and applied to a plurality of storage systems. In some embodiments, one or more values defined in the master profile may be changed and the resulting plurality of parameter values stored in a new master profile. Current values of storage system parameters may be monitored, for example, determined according to a predefined schedule or in response to user input, and the current values may be compared against the values defined in the master profiles. The results of these comparisons may be recorded as part of compliance information that indicates the extent of compliance of the parameter values of a storage system with the master profile parameter values. The compliance information may be included as part of a compliance report, notification or some other communication.

Abstract: Tissue stem cells are responsible for the maintenance and regeneration of mammalian organs, tissues, and cells, including those of humans. Convenient methods for specific and accurate counting of human and animal stem cells are needed for a wide array of applications, including but not limited to cell research, medicine, stem cell medicine, gene therapy, pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical drug development, cell and tissue biomanufacturing and bioengineering, and environmental toxicology. The invention is mathematical algorithms that can be used to compute the tissue stem cell-specific fraction of any cell preparation, including human, from the input of the cell population doubling time of a cell preparation during culture.

Abstract: Methods and devices provide for enhanced robustness via graceful packet error detection and packet retransmission. One illustrative sensing method includes: generating a voltage pulse on a signal conductor coupled to a sensor array including one or more active sensors, the voltage pulse representing a broadcast read command (BRC) that defines a frame of one or more time-division-multiple-access (TDMA) slots, one slot for each active sensor to send a data packet; performing current sensing on the signal conductor to receive the data packet from each of the one or more active sensors; determining whether each said data packet is received error free; and requesting retransmission of each said data packet not received error free.

Abstract: A terminal including a main body part retained by a connector main body and a contact part connected to the upper end of the main body part and the free end of which can be connected to a counterpart terminal of a counterpart connector. The contact part including a connector base connected to the upper end of the main body part, a spring arm connected to the tip of the connector base and bent in a substantially s-shape, and a contact flexure part formed near the free end of the spring arm. The connector main body including a pair of side wall parts that extend in the longitudinal direction thereof and that retain the main body part. The connector base including an outward expanding part that bulges outward from the upper end of the main body part toward the connector main body and straddling the side wall parts without making contact with the side wall parts.

Abstract: Disclosed are a system and methods enabling updating of a card number of a payment card and thereby reissuing the payment card utilizing a reissue application associated with the payment card. The reissue application, when executed communicates with a service provider that manages the payment card. The payment card includes processing circuity and a rewriteable visual display. Using cryptographic techniques, the reissue application and payment card are authenticated to the service provider. Upon verification, an updated card number is obtained and provided via near-field communication to the payment card. In response to the update payment card number received from the reissue application, the rewriteable visual display on the payment card is updated with the updated card number. Other information may also be presented on the rewriteable visual display of the payment card based on user preferences.

Abstract: Systems and methods including one or more processors and one or more non-transitory storage devices storing computing instructions configured to run on the one or more processors and perform acts of: generating a feature vector for a user based, at least in part, on historical data pertaining to the user's previous transactions; generating, using a quantity prediction model of a machine learning architecture, a respective item quantity prediction for each of one or more items included in a predicted basket based, at least in part, on the feature vector for the user; and populating a respective quantity selection option for each of the one or more items included in the predicted basket based on the respective item quantity prediction generated for each of the one or more items. Abstract: A shift system and methodology for use in relation to the automatic transmission of a vehicle is provided. The system includes a paddle shifter arrangement adapted to be operated by a driver to manually and selectively shift the gears of the transmission. The paddle shifter system includes steering wheel-mounted or hand-held paddles to allow the operator to make upshift or downshift requests. The paddles comprise a mechanical switch, a transmitter, and a conventional power source. A computing module capable of interfacing with the vehicle via the Unified Diagnostic Services protocol is provided. A number of components are installed on the module to support device functionality. These components include operating components, flash storage, display driver and communication circuitry. The system includes a wireless communication system that allows the user to link the paddles and the computing module. A display indicates the current vehicle gear and gear requested by the driver.

Abstract: Methods and systems for real-time detection and reporting of trains is described. A system includes two train detection units (TDUs) for each railroad track intersecting a municipality boundary. Each TDU including a proximity sensor to sense a presence of an object on the railroad track, a camera to capture an image of a detected object when the object is within a detection zone, a radar to measure speed when the detected object is classified as a train, and a processor to classify the detected object, generate a timestamp corresponding to when the train entered and exited the detection zone, and determine a train length from the speed and time delta between entrance timestamp and exit timestamp. A train detection controller to receive at least the train length and a TDU identification from one of the two TDUs, and determine estimated time of arrivals for the train at different municipality locations.

Abstract: A firearm barrel and internals saver keeps debris, foreign objects, and free air out of a firearm. The trigger cover may be clipped on to the trigger guard of a firearm. An elastic connective member has a barrel cover at the opposite end, which fits over and covers the opening of the barrel of the firearm. Both the firearm barrel cover and internals saver are quickly removable for use in the field.

Abstract: Methods and systems for remote monitoring of a portable generator. A method for monitoring portable generators includes removably attaching a telemetry module to a portable generator, the telemetry module including a processor, a service provider cable modem, and sensors for obtaining telemetry data from the portable generator, sending, to a service provider system via the service provider cable modem and over a service provider coaxial cable system, portable generator telemetry data when the portable generator is active, receiving, by the service provider cable modem from the service provider system, control commands based on actionable data generated from the portable generator telemetry data, and executing, by the processor, the control commands on the portable generator.

Abstract: A data processing system that receives user input specifying datasets on which operations are performed with user interfaces that enable manipulation of hierarchical groups of datasets. A user interface may enable individual datasets or a previously defined group of datasets to be aggregated into another grouping. The groupings may be scoped, including by persona of users, such that, when a user is prompted to specify one or more datasets as a target of an operation by the data processing system, the available choices are limited to datasets that have a scope encompassing that user. The interfaces may prompt a user to select a grouping within the hierarchy that contains datasets on which the operation can be performed. Upon selection of a grouping with multiple datasets as a target of an operation that is performed on datasets singly, the operation may be performed on each dataset in the selected group.

Abstract: Technologies are disclosed for synchronously rendering audio content by a plurality of network connected speakers. In various embodiments, a media control device may receive media content comprising an audio component, the device may derive and transmit instructions for buffering and rendering the audio component to a plurality of speakers, wherein the instructions include instructions for synchronizing a rendering clock comprised within each of the more than one speakers. The device may transmit the audio component to the more than one speaker of the plurality of speakers; while monitoring status information transmitted by the plurality of speakers; and maintain or restore synchronous rendering of the audio component by the plurality of speakers in response to the status information received from the speakers.

Abstract: A motor control system for controlling operation of a motor having a plurality of windings includes a gate driver to provide a control signal to one or more switching elements controlling a voltage applied to the plurality of windings and a Field Oriented Control (FOC) controller configured to generate a PWM signal for coupling to the gate driver, wherein the FOC controller comprises a d-axis control loop configured to generate an applied d-axis voltage and a q-axis control loop configured to generate an applied q-axis voltage. A stall detector is configured to calculate an estimate of the q-axis voltage and compare the applied q-axis voltage to a threshold based on the estimate in order to detect a stall condition of the motor.

Abstract: This document relates to a process for supporting the management of a variety of types of deployed devices. Administrators utilizing enterprise services can provide generic configuration data using configuration templates, which can be provided to a management server. The management server can then precompute device-specific configuration settings and resolve any conflicts that may arise based on the configuration templates. The configuration templates can also include placeholders for secret values, and once a managed device checks in to the management server, the secret values can be retrieved from an applicable enterprise service and provided to the managed device at the time of applying the configuration template.

Abstract: A method of generating diverse and natural text-to-speech (TTS) samples includes receiving a text and generating a speech sample based on the text using a TTS model. A training process trains the TTS model to generate the speech sample by receiving training samples. Each training sample includes a spectrogram and a training text corresponding to the spectrogram. For each training sample, the training process identifies speech units associated with the training text. For each speech unit, the training process generates a speech embedding, aligns the speech embedding with a portion of the spectrogram, extracts a latent feature from the aligned portion of the spectrogram, and assigns a quantized embedding to the latent feature. The training process generates the speech sample by decoding a concatenation of the speech embeddings and a quantized embeddings for the speech units associated with the training text corresponding to the spectrogram.
