  • Patent number: 11403031
Abstract: A method for data retrieval includes receiving a set of probability metrics. A set of probability metrics is received for each one of a plurality of read values, and each probability metric of the set of probability metrics corresponds to a statistical likelihood that the read value is representative of one of a number of symbols. The symbols define a set of allowed transitions between a number of states, and a series of successive allowed transitions between states define allowed paths between the states. The method further includes determining a survival path between the states. The survival path is based on an accumulation of probability metrics corresponding to the statistical likelihood that successive ones of the plurality of read values are representative of successive ones of the symbols defining each transition in the survival path. The method further includes decoding a symbol stream based on the survival path.

  • Patent number: 11405420
Abstract: Distributed storage of a file in edge storage devices that is resilient to eavesdropping adversaries and Byzantine adversaries. Approaches include a cost-efficient approach in which an authorized user has access to the content of all edge storage nodes. In this approach, key blocks and file blocks that are masked with key blocks are saved in the edge storage nodes. Additionally, redundant data for purposes of error correction are also stored. In turn, upon retrieval of all blocks, errors introduced by a Byzantine adversary may be corrected. In a loss resilient approach, redundant data is stored along with masked file partitions. Upon retrieval of blocks from the edge storage nodes, a unique approach to solving for the unknown file partition values is applied with identification of corrupt nodes based on an average residual error value for each storage node.

  • Patent number: 11403106
Abstract: A method for parallel processing of a data stream is provided. In the method, a processing task is received. The processing task is configured to process a data stream that includes a plurality of segments. A split operation is subsequently performed on the data stream to split the plurality of segments into N sub-streams, where each of the N sub-streams includes one or more segments of the plurality of segments, and the N is a positive integer. Further, N sub-processing tasks are performed on the N sub-streams to generate N processed sub-streams. A merge operation is performed on the N processed sub-streams to generate a merged output data stream. The merged output data stream is identical to an output data steam that is generated when the processing task is applied directly to the data stream without the split operation.
