Abstract: During operation, an electronic device receives, from a second electronic device in a network, a request for testing. In response, the electronic device set ups a video call with a video-call service. Then, the electronic device provides, to the second electronic device, an invitation for the video call. When the electronic device receives a notification (e.g., from the video-call service) that the video call has started, the electronic device provides content via the video-call service for the second electronic device. Next, the electronic device obtains communication-performance metrics associated with communication via the network during the video call and video-service performance metrics associated with the video call. Furthermore, the electronic device diagnoses a type of problem experienced at the second electronic device during the video call based at least in part, on the communication-performance metrics, the video-service performance metrics and a pretrained machine-learning model.

Abstract: An electrified vehicle, system, and method include an electric machine, a traction battery coupled to the electric machine, and a controller programmed to control wheel slip to provide high wheel slip to traverse deformable terrain, such as sand or loose soil, and lower wheel slip to avoid excessive soil removal beneath the wheels after detecting a vertical acceleration or heave event, such as after landing when driving over a jump or bump. When vehicle vertical acceleration exceeds a first threshold, and a ratio of a wheel angular acceleration to vehicle longitudinal acceleration exceeds a second threshold, the electric machine is controlled to limit wheel slip to a lower value that provides sufficient tractive force to maintain some forward motion. Otherwise, the electric machine is controlled to limit wheel slip to a higher value to accommodate higher vehicle speeds over the deformable terrain.

Abstract: A saline feed stream flows into a liquid-liquid extraction system; and a volatile organic solvent flows through a main compressor. The compressed volatile organic solvent then flows through a solvent regenerator, which can be a heat exchanger or a combination of a vaporization device and a condenser, to cool the volatile organic solvent. The cooled volatile organic solvent in liquid phase then flows into the liquid-liquid extraction system, where the saline feed stream contacts the volatile organic solvent to selectively extract water from the saline feed stream into the volatile organic solvent, producing a concentrated brine and an organic-rich mixture of water and the volatile organic solvent. The organic-rich mixture flows from the liquid-liquid extraction system into the solvent regenerator, where the organic-rich mixture is heated to produce an organic-rich vapor and desalinated water; and the organic-rich vapor is recycled as volatile organic solvent back into the liquid-liquid extraction system.

  • Publication number: 20220217798
Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses are described for enabling dual connectivity with secondary cell-user equipment. In some aspects, a base station (121) serving as a primary cell forms a base station-user equipment dual connectivity (BUDC) group (410) by configuring a user equipment (UE, 111) as a secondary cell-user equipment (SC-UE, 420) to provide a secondary cell. The base station (121) or SC-UE (420) can then add other UEs (112, 113, 114) to the BUDC group (410) thereby enabling dual connectivity for the UEs through the primary cell or secondary cell provided by the SC-UE (420). In some cases, the SC-UE (420) schedules resources of an air interface (302) by which the other UEs to communicate with the SC-UE (420). By so doing, the SC-UE (420) can communicate data with the other UEs (112, 113, 114) of the BUDC group (410) without communicating through a base station (121, 122), which decreases latency of communications between the UEs (111-114) of the BUDC group (410).

The systems disclosed include an energy management system in operation with an intelligent, network-connected thermostat located at a structure. The thermostat controls an HVAC system to cool the structure using a demand response event implementation profile over the demand response event period. Abstract: An integrated circuit that includes a generating circuit is described. During operation, the generating circuit may provide an edge clock having a target phase within a clock period of an input clock, where the generating circuit does not include a delay-locked loop (DLL). For example, the generating circuit may include a gated ring oscillator that provides a reference clock having a first fundamental frequency that is larger than a second fundamental frequency of the input clock. Note that the gated ring oscillator may be programmable to adjust the first fundamental frequency within a predefined range of values. Moreover, the generating circuit may include a control circuit that determines a reference count of a number of edges of the reference clock within a reference period of the reference clock.
