Patent number: 11229934Abstract: A method of forming a fiber-reinforced composite part includes forming a composite preform by extruding a hollow metal shape onto a fiber-reinforced preform at an extrusion temperature and cooling the hollow metal shape from the extrusion temperature to a temperature less than the extrusion temperature. Heat from the hollow metal shape cooling from the extrusion temperature is conducted into the fiber-reinforced preform for curing thereof. Also, thermal contraction of the hollow metal shape onto the fiber-reinforced preform applies a consolidation pressure on the fiber-reinforced preform for curing thereof. The fiber-reinforced preform may be a hollow fiber-reinforced preform and a die can be moved through the hollow fiber-reinforced preform such that consolidation pressure is applied thereto by a combination of the thermal contraction of the hollow metal shape onto the hollow fiber-reinforced preform and the die moving through the hollow fiber-reinforced preform.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 2019Date of Patent: January 25, 2022Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventor: Stephen Kowal

Patent number: 11232074Abstract: A search term is received at deduplicated storage storing data segmented into segments. Segment fingerprints are generated and metadata maintained to allow reconstruction of the segmented data. The metadata includes fingerprint listings indicating sequences according to which the segments should be reconstructed. The segments are read to determine whether there are any matches of the search term. Matches are recorded in a results table. A first fingerprint listing associated with a first object is read. The results table is queried for fingerprints in the first fingerprint listing to determine whether the first object references any matches in the results table.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 2020Date of Patent: January 25, 2022Assignee: EMC IP Holding Company LLCInventor: Philip Shilane

Patent number: 11230288Abstract: Presented are hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) powertrains and control logic for optimized regenerative braking (regen), methods for making/using such systems, and HEVs with increased regen through reduced engine and transmission friction. A method of operating an HEV includes determining if an REV operating state or fault prevents engagement of a regen control operation and, if not, responsively determining if a torque request for the REV's powertrain is less than a road load on the HEV. The regen control operation is executed responsive to the torque request being less than the road load. The regen control operation includes the power transmission drivingly disconnecting the engine from the road wheels, and the engine operating at a target engine speed. A negative torque offset to maintain a vehicle deceleration rate after disconnecting the engine from the road wheels is calculated; the traction motor outputs a negative torque based on this negative torque offset.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2020Date of Patent: January 25, 2022Assignee: GM Global Technology Operations LLCInventors: David S. Patent number: 11232297Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses, including computer programs encoded on a computer-readable storage medium for estimating the shape, size, and mass of fish are described. A pair of stereo cameras may be utilized to obtain right and left images of fish in a defined area. The right and left images may be processed, enhanced, and combined. Object detection may be used to detect and track a fish in images. A pose estimator may be used to determine key points and features of the detected fish. Based on the key points, a three-dimensional (3-D) model of the fish is generated that provides an estimate of the size and shape of the fish. A regression model or neural network model can be applied to the 3-D model to determine a likely weight of the fish.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2020Date of Patent: January 25, 2022Assignee: X Development LLCInventors: Barnaby John James, Evan Douglas Rapoport, Matthew Messana, Peter Kimball
