Abstract: A tamper-resistant device for holding a portion of an access port of a fluid line can include a first housing member that includes a first recess and a first stopping shelf. The device can further include a second housing member that includes a second recess and a second stopping shelf. The second housing member can couple with the first housing member such that the first and second stopping shelves cooperate to retain the portion of the access port within the device. The device can include a locking mechanism configured maintain the first and second housing members in a coupled state when engaged. The device can further include a tamper-evident indicator that, when activated, permits the first and second housing members to transition from the coupled state to a decoupled state to permit access to the access port of the fluid line.
Abstract: A privacy display comprises a spatial light modulator and a compensated switchable liquid crystal retarder arranged between first and second polarisers arranged in series with the spatial light modulator. In a privacy mode of operation, on-axis light from the spatial light modulator is directed without loss, whereas off-axis light has reduced luminance. The visibility of the display to off-axis snoopers is reduced by means of luminance reduction over a wide polar field. In a wide angle mode of operation, the switchable liquid crystal retardance is adjusted so that off-axis luminance is substantially unmodified.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for applying a unifying visual effect, such as posterization, to all or most of the visual elements in a film. In one implementation, a posterization standard includes a line work standard, a color palette, a plurality of color blocks characterized by one or more hard edges, and a gradient transition associated with each of the hard edges. The visual elements, including live actors and set pieces, are prepared in accordance with the posterization standard. The actors are filmed performing live among the set pieces. The live-action segments can be composited with digital elements. The result is a combination of both real and stylized elements, captured simultaneously, to produce an enhanced hybrid of live action and animation.
Abstract: Alumina support compositions comprising at least 0.1 wt % of silica are disclosed. The alumina support are characterized by a pore volume of greater than 0.60 cc/g, a median pore size ranging from about 70 to about 120, a pore size distribution such that at least 90% of the total pore volume falls within the range of about 20 to about 250, and a pore size distribution width of no less than about 40. Alumina compositions of the present invention exhibit a primary peak mode at a pore diameter less than the median pore diameter. Also provided are catalysts made from the alumina supports, and processes of preparing and using the supports and catalysts.

Abstract: An electric-powered submersible vacuum cleaner for filtering water in a pool includes a base with an inlet port extending therethrough. A plurality of wheels extends from the lower surface of the base to facilitate movement of the cleaner over a surface of the pool. An impeller coaxially aligned with the inlet draws water and debris from the pool surface. An electric-powered drive train is coupled to the cleaner and configured to rotate the impeller. A discharge conduit in fluid communication with the inlet extends substantially normal with respect to the upper surface of the base and circumscribes the impeller to direct the flow of water/debris drawn through the inlet by the impeller. A filter mounted over the discharge conduit filters the debris from the drawn water and passes filtered water into the pool. A handle configured to facilitate manual movement of the cleaner over the pool surface.
