Abstract: A treatment for autism in which an effective amount of lactulose is administered in order to bind excess ammonia in the gastrointestinal tract, the bloodstream, and the nervous system in order to prevent or reverse ammonia poisoning caused by the administration of certain antibiotics. Lactulose molecules in the colon are fermented by certain bacteria. The fermentation process lowers the colonic pH, and ammonia, in the form of ammonium ions, is used by the bacteria for amino acid and protein synthesis. This lowers the serum ammonia levels and reduces neurotoxicity.
Abstract: A progressing cavity device operates as a motor to impart torque to a bit. A stator of the device defines an internal profile having uphole stages with a first dimension being less than a second dimension of downhole stage. A rotor has an external profile with a constant outer dimension along its length. Disposed in the stator, the rotor defines cavities with the stator and is rotatable with pumped fluid progressing in the cavities from the uphole to downhole to transfer torque to the drive toward the downhole end. Although the rotor is subjected at the downhole end to a reactive torque from the bit, the interference fit of the rotor's constant dimension with the stator's downhole stages is less than with the uphole stages, which can mitigate issues with heat buildup in the downhole stages. The device can also operates as a progressing cavity pump.

Abstract: A radiating beacon system includes a traced wire configured to produce a first magnetic field circulating around the traced wire. The system also includes a radiating beacon configured to produce a second magnetic field circulating around the radiating beacon, wherein the radiating beacon is coupled to the traced wire. The system further includes a locator transmitter configured to apply a tracing signal to the traced wire, wherein the locator transmitter is selectively coupled to the traced wire. The system includes a locator receiver configured to receive the first magnetic field and the second magnetic field, wherein the locator receiver produces an output in response to receiving the first magnetic field and the second magnetic field. Since digital decoders of digital network systems block valves from producing the second magnetic field, an underground irrigation system now includes the radiating beacon system to accurately locate the valves.
Abstract: According to some embodiments, a system may treat blood outside the body of a patient. The system may include one or more pumps configured to pump blood in a fluid flow path at a collective rate over 5 liters per minute. The system may include one or more heat exchangers operable to heat at least a portion of the blood to a temperature of at least 42 degrees Celsius and to allow the blood to cool one or more degrees following heating. The system may include one or more convection dialysis modules configured to perform convection dialysis on at least a portion of the blood at least after the one or more heat exchangers allow the blood to cool one or more degrees.
Abstract: Strings of non-volatile memory cells include one or more joint regions adjacent to dummy non-volatile memory cells. During erase operations, different voltage levels are used for different dummy word lines coupled to respective dummy non-volatile memory cells. For example, a selection circuit may set a voltage level of a particular dummy word line to a voltage level greater than a different dummy word line. In another example, the selection circuit may determine a voltage level for a given dummy word line based on a distance between a non-volatile memory cell coupled to the given dummy word line and a selection device included in a string of non-volatile memory cells. Electron holes generated using the dummy word lines during erase operations may neutralize undesired trapped charges in a non-volatile memory string, thereby reducing disparity in erase times for different strings in the non-volatile memory circuit.

The method comprises steps to use the apparatus and the system comprises a control panel that operates the at least one device for removing heavy metals and at least one sensor in a coordinated manner.
Abstract: A design software, e.g., a graphical user interface (GUI) software, may be used to design and/or configure a load control system. The design software may be executed on a network device (e.g., a personal computer, a laptop, a tablet, or a smart phone). The design software may allow for easy configuration of load control panels and effortless multiplication of configured panels during the design of the load control system. Each load control panel may have a plurality of control devices, such as load control devices (e.g., power modules, dimming modules, and/or switching modules), system controllers, and/or power supplies. The design software may allow for the configuration of load control panels having different types and numbers of control devices. In addition, the design software may allow for the multiplication of load control panels having the same configuration (e.g., the same type and number of control devices).

Abstract: Disclosed is a dunnage apparatus, including a converting station and a deflector. The converting station converts a line of high-density supply material into low-density dunnage and ejects the dunnage at an exit in an exit trajectory along a path. The deflector is repositionable with respect to the exit between a first position, in which the deflector is interposed in the path to deflect the path of the dunnage from the exit trajectory to a first deflected trajectory, and a second position. The deflector is retained in each position during the ejection of the dunnage.
Abstract: A fluid pathway assembly includes a needle insertion mechanism, a fluid conduit, and a fluid pathway connection. The fluid pathway assembly may further include a drug container to hold a drug fluid prior to initiation of the injection. The assembly may include a carrier disposed along at least a portion of the fluid pathway assembly, and/or a drug container. The fill-finish cartridge functions to retain the components of the fluid pathway assembly in a sterile condition, while allowing for easy integration of the fluid pathway assembly and the drug container into a standard fill-finish process. Methods of constructing a cartridge, filling a drug container included in a cartridge, and incorporating the same into a drug delivery device are disclosed.

Abstract: Devices work as both area lighting and ionizing radiation detectors. The lighting is adjustable in response to radiation detection, warning nearby users about radiation. Multiple devices can be plugged into electrical outlets throughout a plant or building to replace conventional lighting like lightbulbs or CFLs. Each device can transmit alerts to notify nearby users and transmit data to processors for aggregation and analysis. The data can be sent wirelessly, over fiber optic cable, as power line communications or otherwise. The data can be multiplexed along a single line. The devices may be in known locations or located based on an ID in the data. This data can be used to locate radiation sources and facilitate analysis and alerting at the location. Operators may respond to the radiation detection by issuing commands to the devices to change lighting output, adjust radiation detection parameters, and take corrective or ameliorative action in the facility.
