Abstract: Systems, devices and methods are disclosed for controlling and incentivizing the use of software-based services that are made available to residents of controlled-environment facilities. Residents are assigned a communication device that is used to connect to a communication system provided to residents by a controlled-environment facility. Via the assigned communication device, the resident is provided with various software modules, such as visitation software, entertainment software and educational software. The provided software modules may designated as either incentivized or restricted. A restricted module, such as a visitation module or gaming module, is disabled until the resident has been authorized to use the module. The communication device is configured to track the resident's use of incentivized modules, such as education modules.

The underground pipe repair device may include a first T-shaped joint liner having a base portion extending laterally in the service pipe, and an arm portion extending vertically into the branch pipe. The underground pipe repair device may also include an annular body aligned with and being radially spaced from an opening for the branch pipe and coupled to the first T-shaped joint liner for enabling reinstatement of the branch pipe opening without damaging a liner in the service pipe or the first T-shaped joint liner.
Abstract: A method is presented for detecting visual artifacts such as macroblocking artifacts appearing in a rendering of a video stream. A decoded video stream that includes a plurality of frames is received. Edges appearing in the plurality of frames are detected and data characterizing the edges is directed to a neural network. The neural network determines a likelihood that a macroblocking artifact occurs in the video stream using the neural network. The neural network is trained using training data that includes (i) one or more video sequences having known macroblocking artifacts whose size and duration are known and (ii) user ratings indicating a likelihood that users visually perceived macroblocking in each of the one or more video sequences when each of the one or more video sequences are rendered.
Abstract: An example device includes a plurality of power converters configured to supply electrical power to a display, each optimized for a different output load current range; and a controller configured to: estimate a current level of the display; select, based on the estimated current level, a power converter of the plurality of power converters; and cause electrical power from the selected power converter to be supplied to the display.

The shift collar may have a collar gear that may have a collar tooth that may have a concave collar tooth side surface that may be centered about a transverse collar tooth plane. The drive component may have a tooth that may have a convex lateral side surface centered about a transverse tooth plane. The concave collar tooth side surface may cooperate with the convex lateral side surface to align the transverse collar tooth plane with the transverse tooth plane.
Abstract: Apparatuses and techniques are described for managing power consumption in a memory device. When a multi-plane read command is received, a control circuit determines whether the blocks identified by the read command are fully or partially programmed. If they are fully programmed, the read command is executed while applying a common read pass voltage to the unprogrammed word lines of the respective blocks. If the blocks are not all fully programmed, the control circuit determines a last-programmed word line. If the last-programmed word lines are not equal in each block, the read command is executed while applying a base read pass voltage to the unprogrammed word lines of one or more higher-programmed blocks and a lower read pass voltage to the unprogrammed word lines of one or more lower-programmed blocks.

Abstract: A circuit includes a phase-locked loop configured to receive a reference clock signal and to generate a first clock signal having a first frequency. A secondary clock generation circuit is configured to generate a second clock signal having a second frequency lower than the first frequency. A voltage detection circuit is coupled to receive a supply voltage and configured to detect a droop in the supply voltage and generate a clock control signal in response to detecting a droop in the supply voltage. A selection circuit is coupled to the voltage detection circuit to receive the clock control signal and is configured to select one of the first clock signal and the second clock signal based on the clock control signal.
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media (transitory and non-transitory) are provided herein for automated bidding on auctioned online content. In various embodiments, a bidder process operating on a bidder management computing system may determine an IP address associated with an impression to be populated with consumable content. The impression may be solicited by a content auction computing system. The bidder process may retrieve, e.g., from volatile memory local to the bidder process management computing system, bidding guidelines associated with the IP address. The bidder process may determine, based on the retrieved bidding guidelines, a bid for a particular consumable content item to populate the solicited impression. The bidder process may then submit the bid to the content auction computing system.

Abstract: A method for generating a 3D digital model used for creating a hairpiece are disclosed. The method comprises: obtaining a 3D model of a head, the 3D model containing a 3D surface mesh having one single boundary and color information associated with the 3D mesh; mapping the 3D model into a 2D image in such a manner that any continuously connected line on the 3D model is mapped into a continuously connected line in the 2D image, the 2D image containing a 2D mesh with color information applied thereto; displaying the 2D image; identifying a feature in the 2D image based on the color information; and mapping the identified feature back onto the 3D model. A system for generating a 3D digital model used for creating a hairpiece is also provided in another aspect of the present disclosure.

Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods in which a surgeon can use computer-implemented deformity assessment and correction tools to create 3D models of a bone. To ensure adequate healing, a surgeon may choose to use a prefabricated bone plate, a semi-customized bone plate, or a fully-customized bone plate to hold first and second bone portions in a corrected position. To select the appropriate prefabricated bone plate, the surgeon may identify three landmark locations on the first and second bone portions corresponding to desired fixation hole locations on the bone plate. The surgeon can then use a software application to evaluate multiple bone plate designs in a library and compare the average proximity of the landmark locations to fixation hole locations on each of the bone plate designs. Then, the surgeon can determine which bone plate design best fits the patient anatomy based on his comparison.

Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to autofilling card data from a contactless card to a form of a computing device. An application may determine that a payment field of a form has received focus. The application may then receive encrypted data from a communications interface of a contactless card associated with an account. The application may then receive, from a server, verification of the encrypted data. The application may then receive, from the server, an encrypted account number associated with the account, and decrypt the encrypted account number to yield the account number. An autofill service of an operating system (OS) executing on the processor circuit, may then autofill the account number to the payment field of the form.
