More particularly, the exemplary articles and methods for forming the same are configured to accept many types of coloring media on a surface thereof through use of a color-receptive layer.

Abstract: An example lid assembly can include a lid and a slider. The lid can include a wall defining a recess. The slider can be configured to slide in the recess and can be configured to move between a closed position where the slider covers the opening to aid in preventing spilling of contents of the container and an opened position where the slider uncovers the opening such that the contents of the container can be consumed. The slider can be configured to be removable from the lid and can be replaced back on the lid. Additionally, the slider can be configured to lock into place on the recess in both the closed position and the opened position.

Abstract: There is disclosed herein techniques for categorizing computerized messages into categories. In one embodiment, there is disclosed a method. The method comprising performing an analysis of one or more computerized messages that includes identifying a set of discriminatory tokens in the one or more computerized messages that are representative of a category and determining for each discriminatory token a respective weight by which the token describes the category. The method also comprises determining a similarity between a computerized message and the category based on the content of the computerized message, the set of discriminatory tokens and the respective weights. The method further comprises classifying the computerized message as belonging to the category upon determining that the computerized message and the category are similar.
Abstract: An exemplary apparatus for mitigating a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack includes a controller configured: to receive an output signal from a detector in a networked computing system, the output signal indicating a probability of a DDoS attack based at least in part on a threat level corresponding to an Autonomous System Number (ASN) associated with a source Internet Protocol address of received data packets when a volume of the received data packets exceeds a prescribed threshold value; to obtain action information correlating a specific ASN to at least one corresponding action for mitigating a DDoS attack; and to generate at least one control signal for initiating at least one action for mitigating the DDoS attack as a function of the obtained action information. The apparatus further includes at least one mitigation device for performing at least one action for mitigating the DDoS attack in response to the control signal.
Abstract: Methods of preventing a disease resulting from a dengue virus (DENV) infection in a human subject, comprising administering to the human subject a compound of Formula (I), or pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound of Formula (I); a compound of Formula (I) can be first administered to an asymptomatic human subject followed by subsequent doses administered at least once daily. The methods of the invention can be used to prevent a disease resulting from primary and secondary DENV 1-4 viral infections.

Abstract: Architecture that enables a user to designate acceptance to receiving social cards from other user in a social network using a personal digital assistant. A mapping component maintains the mappings of all users who have accepted to participate in card sharing and the acceptance level. A whitelist of users can be created that lists the users to whom a social card can be sent from an endpoint. The user can create local groups dynamically at runtime on the local endpoint, where the local groups enable the sharing of the personalized content with multiple users concurrently. The shared card is selected by the sending user and becomes available to the PDA on the proactive canvas of the recipient's PDA along with other cards. Based on the user engagement history, these cards can be ranked among other cards social or non-social PDA cards. Conflation, push notifications, and filtering are also provided.
Abstract: A vascular snare system and method for extracting elongated objects such as pacemaker pacing leads or defibrillator leads from the vasculature of a patient are provided. The system utilizes a sheath having a lumen through which two wire elements are deployed to snare and extract a lead. Each wire element has a magnet disposed at its distal end. The wire elements may be manipulated to form a closed loop transversely around a midsection or central portion of the body of the lead by coupling the magnets to each other. The wire elements may then be utilized to extract the lead from the vasculature of the patient through the lumen.
Abstract: Apparatus features a signal processor configured to receive signaling from a flux sensor containing information about a residual field from an electrical supply to a motor of a driven machine and a magnetic field from one or more rotating magnets placed on a rotating component of the driven machine; and determine corresponding signaling containing information about the operation of the driven machine, based upon a difference between an electrical supply frequency and a slip frequency determined from the signaling received and processed. The signal processor also provides the corresponding signaling for further processing to determine further information about the operation of the machine.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are techniques for displaying images on multiple image planes in a near-eye display system. A switchable optical device includes a first polarizer configurable to polarize incident light into light of a first circular polarization state, and a second polarizer configurable to transmit light of a second circular polarization state and reflect light of the first circular polarization state into light of the first circular polarization state. The switchable optical device also includes a partial reflector positioned between the first polarizer and the second polarizer. The partial reflector is configured to transmit light from the first polarizer and reflect light from the second polarizer, where the reflected light and the light from the second polarizer have different polarization states. At least one of the first polarizer or the second polarizer includes a cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) circular polarizer that is switchable by a voltage signal.
