  • Patent number: 10997431
Abstract: Examples of techniques for controlling a vehicle using an anchor line are disclosed. In one example implementation, a computer-implemented method includes receiving a lane line quality indicator from a camera associated with a vehicle. The method further includes determining a lane line weight. The method further includes comparing the lane line quality indicator to a quality threshold to determine whether the lane line is of sufficient quality to use as an anchor line. The method further includes comparing the lane line weight to a confidence threshold to determine whether the lane line is of sufficient confidence to use as the anchor line. The method further includes, responsive to determining that at least one of the lane line is not of sufficient quality and the lane line is not of sufficient weight, generating an alternate anchor line. The method further includes controlling the vehicle using the alternate anchor line.

  • Patent number: 10998486
Abstract: Large algorithms can be run on a quantum computer only if quantum error correction is used to lower logical qubit errors. The energy deposited by cosmic-ray muons produces a quasiparticle “heat” pulse that causes the qubits to decay in energy quickly, with errors correlated in space and time, so that error correction fails. Metal layers comprising normal metal and/or small-gap superconductors channel this energy away from the qubit into benign structures so that qubit performance is not degraded. These structures are designed according to the electron-phonon interactions and constraints from electromagnetic radiation to make large reductions in the induced errors so that error correction works properly.

  • Patent number: 10997270
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for optimizing digital components. In one aspect, the system includes a digital component server that identifies a digital component to be presented in an electronic document. The system also includes a digital component distribution server that interacts with the digital component server to determine that the electronic document includes a particular item that identifies a same entity as the digital component that was identified to be presented in the electronic document. The system combines at least a portion of the digital component with content from the particular item to form an optimized digital component. The optimized digital component is integrated into the electronic document rather than presenting either of the particular item or the digital component individually.

  • Patent number: 10997541
Abstract: A research, analysis, regulatory compliance and media platform that connects customers to finished research and analysis produced by subject matter experts is described. The platform facilitates research, investigations, and analysis by creating a single environment in which a group of distributed analysts conduct research and investigations, store and retrieve documents and other sources, collaborate, and publish findings. Consumers are able to query a published knowledge graph, surface high value relationships, and access insights captured by analyst through a customer web portal or external production environment. The platform allows analysts and customers to research and map the commercial, financial, and facilitation networks of sanctioned or other actors that may be associated with illicit activity. Customers can access visual graphs depicting relationships between sanctioned and non-sanctioned actors in order to evaluate their possible exposure to financial crime or sanctions-related risks.

  • Patent number: 10995063
Abstract: Methods and machinery are described for combining methane with sulfur trioxide to make MSA, in a system that sustains optimal concentrations of reactants in the main reactor for high yields, efficiency, and profitability. Rather than simply making MSA and then removing it, this design uses a “continuous loop system” with: (i) a “rich acid” stream containing a high concentration of MSA, mixed with sulfuric acid, which will emerge from the main reactor, and (ii) a “reduced acid” stream containing a low concentration of MSA (still mixed with sulfuric acid), from an extractor unit (such as a distillation unit) which removes some but not all of the MSA from the “rich acid”. Additional subassemblies are described which enable the main reactor to work efficiently, at a sustained high flow-through capacity. This system also can be scaled up or down, for any daily MSA production rate.

  • Patent number: 10995784
Abstract: A locking mechanism is provided that attaches sheet pieces. The mechanism includes a sheet of material and various self-locking shapes that are cut therefrom, where this cutting forms an aperture in the sheet. Some of the self-locking shapes are releasably affixable to the aperture by removing them from the sheet, rotating them, and inserting the rotated shapes back into the aperture, where this releasable affixment results from a plurality of sides of the rotated shapes making contact with and laterally pushing against the aperture. One of the self-locking shapes is an ellipse which is releasably affixable to the aperture by rotating the ellipse while it is within and in planar alignment with the aperture until radially opposing sides of the ellipse make contact with and push against the aperture. A peripheral edge of another one of the self-locking shapes forms an ellipse and includes one or more flexible fingers.
