Abstract: An arrangement is provided for the automatic folding of toy balloons. A series of folding plates are provided along a path of travel and a vacuum conveyor provides traction force for the balloon as it slides across the folding plates. The folding plates interfere with the path of travel of the balloon causing the balloon to fold side-to-side. Tucking blades fold the balloon lengthwise to complete the folding operation.
Abstract: A method for improving retention of filler in papermaking systems includes a split stream feed to either the head box or fan pump of a papermaking system. The split stream divides the pulp flow into two streams, one stream having a retention aid and filler added thereto. The retention aid and filler-containing stream is then added back to the other stream upstream of the fan pump or head box. Treating only a portion of the overall pulp flow with the filler/retention aid lowers retention aid consumption, improves paper product appearance and maintains or increases filler retention during papermaking.

Abstract: Mobile assisted handover of an encrypted traffic connection between linked base stations of a private radio communications network are provided in a system including a plurality of base stations and a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal detects a signal quality of a received beacon transmission from a private base station of the private radio communications network while an encrypted traffic connection is underway with another base station of the private radio communications network. The beacon transmissions are received and a signal quality detected during idle frames of the ongoing traffic connection. The mobile terminal may also detect signal quality of the ongoing traffic connection and transmit it to the base station. The detected signal quality and identification of the beacon transmitting private base station are provided to the private radio communications network which determines whether a handover should be initiated.
Abstract: A pipe bending machine with a bending assembly (1) and a support arm (2), pivotedly supported swingingly relative to the bending assembly through a pivot (6) that is slidably supported along a stem (7) on the axis passing through the center of rotation of the matrix and the center of swinging of the countermatrix assembly (the "zero"), so as to automatically position and axis of the pipe on the zero.
Abstract: A pull-out guide assembly for use on each of opposite sides of a drawer for guiding the movement of the drawer into and out of the body of an article of furniture includes a supporting rail to be mounted on a respective side of the body of the article of furniture, a pull-out rail to be mounted on a respective side of the drawer and a center rail positioned between the rails for enabling relative longitudinal movement therebetween. A recess is formed in the front end of the center rail. A stop member operative between the pull-out rail and the center rail limits the extent of longitudinal movement of the pull-out rail relative to the center rail in a direction of extraction of the pull-out rail from the center rail. The stop member is a lug projecting horizontally underneath the center rail and a tiltable flap situated above the center rail. In the retaining position the horizontal lug is positioned underneath the recess in the center rail, the recess being open solely to the bottom of the center rail.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for passively determining the depth and thickness of a subterranean geologic formation bearing hydrocarbons, e.g., oil and/or gas, or commercially important ore deposits, e.g., precious metals. The apparatus has an antenna to pick up extremely low frequency signals naturally emanating from the Earth's surface. In a preferred embodiment, the received signal is amplified and filtered. The signal is then modulated onto a carrier wave. The modulated signal is then filtered to eliminate one of the sidebands, for example, the lower sideband. An oscillator generates a tuning frequency which is then beat against the filtered, modulated signal in order to tune to a particular frequency. The oscillator sweeps through the range of frequencies, e.g., in the upper sideband portion of the filtered, modulated signal.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for authentication of postage accounting reports. Postage accounting report data is authenticated by first assembling authentication mark data from the postage accounting report data and encrypting the resultant information to form an authentication mark. A physical representation of that authentication mark is then affixed to a postage accounting report generated by a postage accounting report system. The postage accounting report may subsequently be authenticated by communicating the authentication mark to a responsible party (for example, a postal authority or manufacturer) for purposes of decrypting the authentication mark and authenticating the postage accounting report data using the decrypted information.
Abstract: An electronic combination lock includes a combination lock having a dial with no markings thereon. Rotation of the dial drives a generator which produces electrical pulses. The voltage pulses serves as a power source for the electronics of the lock. The lock also includes a security feature to disable the lock if the combination dial is stopped between dial rotations for a period of time which indicates dialing by an automatic dialer.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of manufacturing microcapsules (fat emulsion or liposome) of high stability and smaller mean particle size with a smaller energy and in a shorter treating time. Prior to dispersing a phospholipid treating liquid in a high speed rotary dispersing machine, a treating tank of the high speed rotary dispersing machine is filled up with only the treating liquid. Dispersion of the treating liquid is conducted by rotating at high speed while the treating tank is pressurized to reduce cavitation generation. For precision dispersion of this treating liquid, it is transferred into a precision dispersion apparatus, such as high pressure homogenizer, without contacting with a gas phase. The method reduces the mean particle size of the microcapsules to increase their stability for a long time period.
