Abstract: Respective residual frequency offsets of de-spread correlated signals derived from a received communication signal are determined and used to improve receiver performance in high-velocity situations. The knowledge of the residual frequency offsets of the respective fingers can be used for adaptive AFC combining, improved velocity estimation, and adaptive residual frequency offset compensation.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a cable anchor system for an end terminal includes a cable anchor bracket configured to couple to a guardrail, in which the cable anchor bracket includes a flat plate having an aperture formed therein and a plurality of protrusions extending from a plane containing the aperture. The protrusions are configured to releasably engage the guardrail.

Abstract: A wrap-around event in an automatic frequency control (AFC) in a receiver in a communication system can be detected by performing AFC-like operations on one or more additional channel estimates of the strongest communication path. Once a wrap-around event is detected, a correct frequency reference can be restored by forcing the AFC into a high-speed mode of operation, which gives the AFC a chance to restore the correct frequency reference, or by applying a momentary frequency reference change.

Abstract: Whether relative velocity between a transmitter and a receiver is higher than a predetermined amount is detected. This involves using a Doppler estimation technique to generate an estimate of Doppler spread, {circumflex over (f)}D(1), based on a received signal, and using an alternative velocity estimation technique to generate an estimate of velocity, {circumflex over (v)}, based on the received signal, wherein the alternative velocity estimation technique differs from the Doppler estimation technique. A plurality of estimates, including at least the estimate of Doppler spread and the estimate of velocity, are used to detect whether the relative velocity between the transmitter and the receiver is higher than the predetermined amount. The alternative velocity estimation technique may, for example, be a second Doppler estimation technique that differs from the other Doppler estimation technique.

Abstract: Circuit arrangement for detecting the capacitance or capacitance change of a capacitive circuit element, has a control unit, a monostable multivibrator triggered by the control unit, and an evaluation unit. The monostable multivibrator has an input connected to the control unit, a second input connected to the sensor capacitor, and an output. When the monostable multivibrator is triggered by the control unit, an output signal appears at the output of the monostable multivibrator having a time duration proportional to the capacitance of the sensor capacitor, and is converted into a signal voltage proportional to signal duration from which a detection value corresponding to the capacitance or change of capacitance is obtained in the evaluation unit. The output of the monostable multivibrator is to a constant current generator that is controlled by its output signal and an integrator that converts the current from the constant current generator into the signal voltage.

Abstract: A composition and method for use as a preventive therapy to mitigate the effects of environmental toxins, and particularly aflatoxins in a subject. The subject may be at risk for hepatocellular carcinoma and aflatoxicosis. The composition comprising: an effective amount of an isolated low sodium, calcium aluminosilicate clay in a powder form, wherein the isolated low sodium, calcium aluminosilicate clay contains acceptable levels of dioxins and priority toxic heavy metal contamination, and is capable of preferentially binding aflatoxins in the gastrointestinal tract.

Abstract: A light weight portable pressure washer with improved vibration damping includes a plate member disposed between the engine and the supporting frame of the pressure washer. The plate member is mounted to the base of the engine and extends laterally beyond the base of the engine and is supported on the frame of the pressure washer by multiple elastomeric vibration isolators. The plate member and the frame may be constructed of stainless steel or of aluminum, and the frame components may be joined without welding.

Abstract: A method for simulating cuttings re-injection in a wellbore, that includes defining a mass balance equation for a solids bed, defining a mass balance equation for a suspension solids, segmenting the wellbore into a plurality of elements, wherein each element includes a plurality of nodes, segmenting a simulation into a plurality of time intervals, and for each the plurality of time intervals: simulating cuttings re-injection by solving the mass balance equation for the solids bed and the mass balance equation for the suspension solids for each of the plurality of nodes.

Abstract: A first number is multiplied by a second number, by representing the first number as a first set of one or more W-bit wide numbers, and representing the second number as a second set of one or more W-bit wide numbers. Each of the W-bit wide numbers from the first set is paired with each of the W-bit wide numbers from the second set. For each pair of W-bit wide numbers, a set of sub-partial products is generated. Combinations of the sub-partial products are formed such that each combination is representable by a W-bit wide lower partial product and a carry out term that has fewer than W bits. The W-bit wide lower partial products and the carry out terms are combined to form the product of the first number and the second number. The carry out term is advantageously representable by (W/2)+1 bits.

In one embodiment, a baseband processor may comprise a plurality of output drivers to generate a plurality of base currents for biasing a radio frequency digital-to-analog converter. The baseband processor may comprise a serial control interface to generate a programming signal for controlling a relationship among the plurality of base currents. The deck is constructed of deck modules that may be easily disconnected so that the deck modules can be moved by a forklift. Wash water run off is collected in a sloped, covered trough that contains a sump pump positioned in a filtered compartment.

If a command message for setting packet-data transmission parameters is not received from the network before the period elapses, the UE starts a transmission-parameter negotiation if the UE wishes to do so. In this way, a UE can negotiate optimal parameters for packet-data transmission.

A ramp cooperates with the driver body. The ramp incline is such that the first stop disengages from the instantaneous second stop as soon as the driver body has covered an advance path which is at least identical to the distance between two adjacent second stops. A pretensioning spring biases the actuating push rod in an unactuated rest position.

Abstract: The present invention relates to moulded thermoplastic resin articles with travertine-like appearance which exhibit shrinkage of not more than 0.5% upon cooling after moulding process and have a density of at least 1.5 g/cm3. The articles comprise 30-60% by weight of styrene-based resin and 40-50% by weight of stone powder. The styrene-based resin used is selected from the group comprising polystyrene (PS), high impact polystyrene (HIPS), styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer (SAN), acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene terpolymer (ABS) and blends of two or more thereof. The stone powder used has an average size range of 600-2000 mesh and it preferably comprises limestone powder or calcium carbonate. The articles may further comprise 1-3% by weight of impact modifier and/or up to 2% by weight of lubricant. The articles also may further comprise 1-3% by weight of colour pigments or dyes.

Abstract: A cosmetic product replacement unit for a base stick module of a cosmetic stick has a replacement housing in which the cosmetic product is present in the form of a refill. A cap or sealing an extension opening for the refill is attached onto the replacement housing. The refill is in push connection with a piston guided in the replacement housing. A piston connecting component, connected to the piston, may be used with a complementary push rod connecting component of a piston push rod as part of a feed device of the base stick module to withdraw the refill. It is possible to bring the piston push rod into push connection with the piston and to position it on the side of the piston remote from the refill. In addition to the cosmetic product replacement unit, a set also has a plurality of base stick modules which have feed devices for the cosmetic product which differ from one another in their mechanical operating principles.
