  • Patent number: 7313123
Abstract: A system and method for resource management and traffic control in time division duplex communication systems. A multi-radio base station maintains communication links with a plurality of remote terminals, each of which requests a specific bandwidth ratio. A controller analyzes the requested bandwidth ratios and allocates slots in the base station radios according to a packing scheme that synchronizes the transmission and receive timing of the multiple base station radios communication links. The resource management and traffic control techniques may be applied to a variety of communication devices communicating over a variety of interfaces, such as WLAN or a BLUETOOTH short range communications technology interface. Furthermore, the techniques can be employed with devices communicating with two or more remote devices via different interfaces.

  • Patent number: 7312183
Abstract: A water-base fluid for use in drilling, cementing, workover, fracturing and abandonment of subterranean wells through a formation containing shale which swells in the presence of water. In one illustrative embodiment, the drilling fluid is composed of an aqueous based continuous phase, a weighting agent, and a shale hydration inhibition agent. The shale hydration inhibition agent should have the general formula: in which R and R? independently selected from hydrogen, methyl, ethyl or propyl, and X has a value from 1 to 6. The shale hydration inhibition agent is present in sufficient concentration to substantially reduce the swelling of shale drilling cuttings upon contact with the drilling fluid. The drilling fluid may be formulated to include a wide variety of components of aqueous based drilling fluids, such as weighting agents, fluid loss control agents, suspending agents, viscosifying agents, rheology control agents, as well as other compounds and materials known to one of skill in the art.

  • Publication number: 20070291716
Abstract: We describe a universal Ethernet telecommunications service (UETS) that combines the features of the telephone network, local area networks and the Internet in order to offer integrated broadband services by re-using the infrastructure of the telephone and electrical networks. User-network communication extends the Ethernet local network services to the infrastructure of the operator in the “Ethernet domain”, which is distinguished from the Internet “IP domain”. The access device offers packet telephone service, with power supply over the telephone pairs, which guarantees the emergency call through the exchange being provided with a battery and power control for energy saving. Terminals are also defined with a simple supervisor to support the applications used in the Internet, which communicate via the Ethernet domain with the LLC/MAC or TCP/IP protocols and via the IP domain with the TCP/IP protocols.

  • Publication number: 20070289761
Abstract: An auxiliary handle for a hand-held power tool has a handle part gripped by a hand of an operator and defining an axial direction. An attachment part with which the auxiliary handle is to be attached to a power tool is provided. An elastic damping element connects the handle part and the attachment part, wherein the handle part is secured to the attachment part by positive fit. A unitary holding section is connected to the handle part or the attachment part and a unitary securing section is connected to the attachment part or the handle part. The holding section surrounds with lateral play in all directions the securing section on all sides so that a damping space is generated between the securing section and the holding section. The damping element fills out the damping space at least partially.

  • Publication number: 20070293157
Abstract: Timing alignment of User Equipment (UE) in a communications system is maintained by measuring an environmental condition of the UE, and determining a present magnitude of change metric representing a present magnitude of change of the environmental condition relative to a baseline value. The present magnitude of change metric is combined with a previous accumulation metric to obtain a present accumulation metric. If it is detected that the present accumulation metric satisfies a predetermined relationship with respect to the threshold value (e.g., is greater than the threshold value), then the UE transmits a timing advance request. An environmental condition can be, for example, a Doppler shift of a received signal, a Received Signal Strength Indication from a received signal, a temperature within the UE, a humidity within the UE, a supply voltage of the UE, or a symbol timing of a received signal.

  • Publication number: 20070293397
Abstract: The present invention is directed to biologic-chemical herbicide compositions (BCHs) for controlling or preventing weeds that include one or more chemical herbicides and microorganisms including gram-negative bacteria and yeast. The addition of a biological microbial component to one or more chemical herbicides significantly increases the efficacy of the chemical herbicide thereby permitting lower amounts to be used to achieve a desired level of weed control. Any chemical herbicide or combination of herbicides can be used, including fatty acid herbicides like Round-UP®. The BCHs typically also include an optional nutrient component in an amount sufficient to support the growth and replication of the microorganisms. If the BCH is applied to soil rich in nutrients, or if the crops would support the growth of the microorganisms in the BCHs, then the nutrients can be omitted.

  • Patent number: 7310031
Abstract: A dielectric resonator having variable cross-section, preferably varying monotonically, and, most preferably, the resonator being in the shape of a truncated cone. Such shapes displace the H11 mode from the TE mode in the longitudinal direction of the cone. Truncating the cone to eliminate the portion of the cone where the H11 mode exists, virtually eliminates the H11 mode. A circuit comprising a plurality of these resonators may be arranged in an enclosure with each resonator longitudinally inverted relative to adjacent resonator(s) to provide a compact design with enhanced coupling and adjustability. A spiral coupling loop provides high magnetic flux in a small physical volume for coupling energy into or out of the circuit. Alternately, the resonator can coupled to a microstrip by placing the resonator upside-down near the microstrip, whereby the TE mode is immediately above the microstrip, providing enhanced coupling there between.
