  • Patent number: 7138861
Abstract: Coupler-based amplifiers provide a measure of load mismatch based on the difference between the two output signal amplitudes from the amplifiers. This measure can be used to control variable matching networks (VMNs) or amplifier supply voltages to maintain constant distortion levels and high power transfer/efficiency and even to control output power. Load mismatch is measured by comparing the amplifier device output amplitudes and adjusting the circuit based on the comparison to counteract undesired behavior, such as increasing distortion levels.

  • Publication number: 20060254403
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting a roll of material comprising an elongated blade having a distal end, a cutting guide attached to the elongated blade and positioned to direct the distal end of the elongated blade towards the roll of material, and a support position to hold the roll of material approximate to the elongated blade. A method for cutting a roll of material having an axis and a circumference is taught. The method comprises radially cutting the roll of material from the circumference to the axis by advancing the distal end of an elongated blade, then rotating the elongated blade relative the axis to cut the roll of material. Alternately, the method teaches rotating the roll of material relative to the axis to cut the roll of material.

  • Patent number: 7136536
Abstract: An adaptive filter that, in one embodiment, filters rows of pixels of an image in a vertical direction, stores the results in row vectors, and then filters the row vectors in the horizontal direction, and displays the results or stores the results for later display. Coefficients of a reference filter are modified based on the output from the reference filter through a table-lookup process that accesses tables of modified filter coefficients. The output of the modified filter is added to a delayed version of the input to provide the adaptive filter output.

  • Patent number: 7136395
Abstract: Headerless (i.e., zero byte) data packets are sent by a compressor over a radio bearer. The radio bearer includes a synchronized wireless link. A sequential timer-based value is associated with each of the headerless data packets. A decompressor generates a header based on the sequential timer-based value associated with a given received headerless data packet. A data packet having a compressed header is sent periodically over the synchronized wireless link. The data packet having the compressed header can also be sent when the compressor detects changes in slowly-varying header fields, in response to feedback received from the decompressor indicating that a decompression context is out of synchronization and/or just before talk spurts occur.

  • Publication number: 20060253645
Abstract: Methods, systems and computer-readable code for maintaining flash data structures in accordance with events of a flash memory system are disclosed. Both an events log as well as at least one flash management table are maintained in flash memory. For at least one point in time, a most recently stored flash memory table is indicative of an earlier state of the flash memory system, while at least one event that is more recent than the earlier state is stored in the events log. During power-up, the flash management table is retrieved from flash memory. If the most recent event of the flash memory table is earlier than the most recent event of the events log, events are retrieved from the events log in order to update the flash memory table. Optionally, the updated flash memory table is saved to flash memory.

  • Publication number: 20060250293
Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating short electronic pulses using a modified differential trigger that is partly an analogue sinusoidal voltage and partly a selectable, DC voltage. The differential trigger is applied to a differential base band pulse generator having a NAND gate and AND gate. The trigger is applied to both NAND inputs and to one AND input. The NAND output is applied the other AND input. Such a circuit is an OFF state for all input states. However, as the input switches state, the NAND gate delay causes the AND gate to be ON briefly, generating a short pulse. The timing of this pulse can be controlled by varying the constant DC voltage. By using fast switching SiGe CML gates, short pulses with a controllable time off-set can be generated that are suitable for use in automotive radar applications, using only sub-GHz clocks.

  • Publication number: 20060250184
Abstract: SiGe Differential Cascode Amplifier with Miller Effect Resonator A high-power, high frequency (1-100 GHz) power amplifier, made using SiGe transistors. A differential common-emitter amplifier section supplies the voltage amplification, allowing the total voltage swing of the amplifier to be twice the breakdown voltage of the individual transistors. Current amplification is supplied by a differential common-emitter amplifier section, connected in cascode with the differential common-emitter amplifier section. Appropriately chosen resonators in the cascode connection resonate out the Miller effect, negative current feed back of the circuit at the amplifier's operational frequency, allowing the amplifier to provide high power output at the operational frequency.

  • Patent number: 7132389
Abstract: A method of the preparation and utilization of polymerized alpha-hydroxycarboxylic-acid-coated proppants for gravel pack and removal of filter cake that was deposited by reservoir drilling fluid. In a preferred example, polyglycolic-acid-coated sand is used to replace conventional gravel pack sand typically used for gravel packing. Under downhole conditions, the acidic by-product generated from the hydration of polyglycolic-acid-coated sand can break down acid-soluble and/or acid-breakable components embedded in the filter cake. This reaction enhances the filter cake removal and the flow of hydrocarbon from the producing formation. The polyglycolic-acid-coated sand may be produced by polymerizing a glycolic acid with a natural or synthetic proppant like 20–40 mesh commercial sand, at temperatures of about 210° F. or higher.

  • Patent number: 7129705
Abstract: A device for testing the functioning in an internal combustion engine of spark plugs which are recessed within the cylinder head. Connection to the recessed spark plugs can be accomplished by an elongated device shaped to fit within and extend beyond the spark plug recess, preferably with a secure frictional fit within that recess and preferably designed with portions of different diameters so that, by inverting, the unit can be used with cylinder head recesses with a wide range of internal diameters. The device may, if desired, carry a shield member adapted when the device is in use to cover the exposed top of the recess, thereby to prevent foreign material from entering the recess while ignition system testing is carried out. The device may be readily combined with other devices to constitute a kit of virtually unrestricted testing capacity.
