Abstract: The details of an apparatus and methods of handling simultaneous universal terrestrial radio access network radio resource control procedures with activation times in a universal mobile telecommunications system user equipment are disclosed herein. According to one aspect, the apparatus includes a message handler to receive a received message from the UTRAN, a sequential processor to receive an ongoing command, a command store connected to the message handler to save the received command. The message handler determines if there is an existing command at the user equipment such that the user equipment appears to the UTRAN as though it were processing the select commands simultaneously while actually processing the existing command sequentially.

Abstract: A system (20) and method are disclosed for the self-calibrating, on-line determination of size distribution f(x) and volume fraction ? of a number of particles (P) dispersed in a medium (M) by detecting one or more propagation characteristics of multiply scattered light from the particles (P). The multiply scattered light is re-emitted in response to exposure to a light source (21) configured to provide light at selected wavelengths. The determination includes calculating the isotropic scattering and absorption coefficients for the particles (P) by comparing the incident and detected light to determine a measurement corresponding to the propagation time through the scattering medium (M), and iteratively estimating the size distribution f(x) and volume fraction ? as a function of the coefficients for each of the wavelengths. An estimation approach based on an expected form of the distribution and the mass of the particles is also disclosed.

Abstract: Products from the decomposition of cumene hydroperoxide (CHP) are recovered by distillation. The majority of the undesirable by-product acetol (hydroxyacetone) is removed from the phenol stream by distillation wherein the majority of the acetol is carried with an overheads stream comprising acetone, cumene and alphamethylstyrene (AMS). Acetol is subsequently separated from acetone by distillation wherein acetone is taken as an overheads stream and acetol remains with a bottoms stream comprising cumene, AMS and phenol. The acetol, along with residual phenol, is extracted from the cumene and AMS by counter-current washing with an aqueous alkali metal hydroxide. The phenol stream is then distilled to separate phenol from cumene, alphamethylstyrene and higher boiling compounds. The phenol, containing only a small amount of acetol, can then be treated to remove methylbenzofuran by treatment with an acidic resin or solid superacid catalyst without formation of significant amounts of additional methylbenzofuran.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for amplifying a radiofrequency signal using a main Digital to Analog Converter (RFDAC) and a subordinate Digital to Analog Converter (Sub-DAC). The main RFDAC provides a first portion of a N-bit digital output, which specifies the amplification level of the radiofrequency signal, and the sub-DAC provides a second portion of the N-bit digital word. Together, the main RFDAC and the Sub-DAC convert a complete N-bit digital word, where N specifies the resolution of the output radiofrequency signal.

Abstract: A searcher uses an input signal, and for example, a matched filter to generate a first set of candidate paths. A selector uses the input signal and the first set of candidate paths to generate a second set of paths. The second set of paths is used to configure the fingers of a RAKE receiver. According to one aspect of the invention, the first set of candidate paths contains M paths, and the second stage uses M correlators to generate a set of M correlation values. The second stage uses the M correlation values to select N paths that are used to configure the N fingers of the RAKE receiver. According to another aspect of the invention, the first set of candidate paths contains M paths, and the second stage uses a multiple of M correlators to track the M paths and generate a set of M estimates. The second stage uses the M estimates to select N paths that are used to configure the N fingers of the RAKE receiver.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for taking measurements in a mobile telecommunications system is disclosed, the system comprising a network of a plurality of cells and at least one user equipment device. The user equipment device scans frequency bands to generate measurement data for signals received from cells of the network; and when the signals received from cells of the network include more than one signal in a frequency band, measurement data is generated for more than one signal in the frequency band.
Abstract: A screening system including a vibratory screen separator having a resiliently mounted frame with a low frequency vibratory drive coupled to that frame. A taut screen is rigidly mounted in the frame and a vibration transmitter assembly is resiliently mounted to the frame and fixed to the taut screen. The vibration transmitter includes a planar ring compressed against the taut screen and vibration generators. The vibration generators are air turbines with eccentric weights. The frame includes support elements extending from the cylindrical outer housing sections of the separator to a concentrically mounted support ring. Compressed air is provided to the turbines through hollow structure within the frame. Valves control exhaust from the turbines. The low frequency vibratory drive operates in a range of about 8 Hz to 30 Hz while the vibration generators provided by the air turbines operate in a range of about 275 Hz to 600 Hz.
Abstract: A cross-coupled dielectric resonator circuit. Resonator circuits in accordance with the invention may be used to build low-loss compact filters, oscillators, and other circuits, particularly microwave circuits. The resonators are arranged relatively to each other within an enclosure in a very efficient and compact design that enhances adjustability and coupling between adjacent resonators and the cross-coupling of alternate resonators.
Abstract: A detector for breaks in screens and filters employed in material separators includes a transmitter of RF signals and a receiver of RF signals located to either side of a screen. The separator includes a chamber having a barrier to RF signals with a path through the barrier being defined through the screen mount. The screen mount receives a screen to extend fully across the path.
Abstract: Air interface management apparatus for use in network-based control of measurements made by mobile user equipment with respect to cells of the network is adapted to detect conflict in content of measurement control messages instructing the report of pathloss measurement values. Conflict is detected in particular where the message specifies: a) an identity for a triggering event for which the category or categories of cell to be measured is determined at the receiver solely by said identity and comprises detected set cells, or b) periodical measurement in respect of a detected set cell. Pathloss measurements are not possible in these cases. The apparatus provides a mechanism for dealing with detected conflict by blocking transmission of, or response to, a measurement control message giving rise to conflict. Alternatively, the message or the response may be modified to avoid the conflict.
Abstract: Invert emulsion compositions including an oleaginous, a non-oleaginous and an amine surfactant that are useful in the oil and gas well drilling art are disclosed. The amine surfactant is selected so that the invert emulsion can be converted form a water-in-oil type emulsion to a oil-in-water type emulsion upon the protonation of the amine surfactant. Deprotonation of the amine surfactant reverses the conversion. This solution also permits the conversion of oil-wet solids in the fluid into water-wet solids.

A pin-type carrier, through a control lever and a breech mechanism shaft, activates the closing wedge. An ascending curved track is located on a guiding device, and guides the pin-type carrier during a counter-recoil motion of the barrel from an intake region to a highest point, so that the control lever is pivoted during the counter-recoil motion of the barrel and the breech mechanism shaft is turned to move the closing wedge to an opened position.
